Team wins.
Dooku almost is defeated by a weaker team.
I agree with you, just wondering what team are you referring to?
@ieatnettles: Ventress and Quinlan Voss
@ieatnettles: Ventress and Quinlan Voss
Oh right, remember now
Nah Dooku definitely takes this. He could have killed Anakin in ROTS if he wasn't holding back. Maul and Ventress aren't on his level.
@pwilliferthor28: Why do you think RoTS Dooku was holding back? The old novel or a new source?
This team is less than ROTS Anakin and Obi Wan, who Dooku did well against until Anakin went Super Saiyan.
Dooku has always had Ventress’s number, too.
Dooku wins 8/10

The rots ih fight always confused me, as Anakin could do quite well against dooku on his own, but when obi wan joins they both get worse
It could be explained by the novel saying that they were tricking dooku, but im not so sure

Dooku’s job was to kill Kenobi to isolate Anakin and turn him. At no point was he supposed to kill Anakin. Why try and tempt someone if you’re trying to kill them? The temptation came after Obi Wan was out of the picture.
The senior novel says that Dooku decided to go for the kill, but he still tempts Anakin afterwards to try and turn him.
Obi Wan and Anakin both knew that they had to work together to beat Dooku, and I’ll stand by the fact that Dooku beats both of them if Palpatine isn’t in the room, and Dooku doesn’t toy with them.
@lightordark: so you think dooku is>Anakin and obi together? Ngl obi wan always seems to be the weak link in the fights with dooku for some reason, but he's supposed to be close to Anakin.
Where would u scale the likes of ahsoka or maul to Anakin, obi wan and dooku?

With Anakin’s Jedi restraint, yes. I put Dooku above the duo, but it doesn’t take much of a boost of Anakin for them to beat Dooku.
Ahsoka, no. Maul is way closer to the three.
They both get ragdolled. A weaker version of Dooku already ragdolled DD Ventress and there’s nothing to indicate Maul ever overcame the multiple ragdoll gaps demonstrated between him and a massively pre-prime SoD Dooku. It plays out exactly like this again
He stood tall, imposing, and as Vos raced toward him, Dooku didn’t flinch. He lowered his sword and extended his hand. Vos rose in the air and then Dooku shoved, sending the Jedi slamming into one of the pillars. The count turned, almost nonchalantly performing the same maneuver with Ventress. The wind was knocked out of her and she couldn’t breathe.
Stubbornly, using her hate the way she had told Vos to do, she summoned energy to push herself up to a kneeling position, still clutching her lightsaber.
Dooku’s lip curled in a manner that might have been a smile or a snarl. Abruptly Ventress found herself dangling in the air as he whirled her around behind him and then threw her down like a spoiled child discarding a disliked toy.
The pain was excruciating, but Ventress remained conscious long enough to see that Dooku wasn’t yet done. She could only watch helplessly as she slid, headfirst, into the unyielding stone of a meticulously carved bench. The world went white, and she knew nothing more.”

Imo dookus>=maul, Anakin is equal and obi wan is slightly beneath

Probably the team, high diff. Maul on his own would be a decent fight for Dooku, and a prime Ventress can make up the difference. If Ventress goes down early Dooku wins.

I've been nursing a head-canon in my head about this for a while now. Imo Anakin does significantly better when fighting Dooku alone, and that Obi-Wan is actively hindering and getting in his way in their fights against him. This feels supported by a lot of TCW duels.

Its the duality from the first dual with Dooku. Anakin was the hinderance in the first dual. Anakin was the one who got force abused in the first dual. Etc.
Its a film thing. The whole "I was but the learner, now I am the master" thing.
@Aristeaus: I wouldn't necessarily say it's the same. Anakin wasn't a hindrance in that he was getting in Obi-Wan's way or preventing him from properly pressing an advantage. He just got taken out by being brash and running headfirst into battle without a plan against an unknown adversary. Dooku was just better than the both of them in general. I really don't think they had a shot at beating him in that fight regardless.
The context isn't really the same in ROTS. If we're subscribing to the idea Obi-Wan became a hindrance to Anakin, then it'd be by virtue of getting in Anakin's way or forcing him to step back to either defend Obi-Wan or allow Obi-Wan to attack Dooku. That's not really the same thing.

You are looking at the first dual wrong. It wasn't that Anakin was hindering Obi-Wan. It was that his being forced out of the fight was a hinderance to their fight. Obviously they would do better with both of them fighting as opposed to one at a time. They probably still lose, but that isn't the point.
Obi-Wan was very aware of Anakin's growth. Anakin was very aware of his own power. Despite that, in the second dual, Obi-Wan still reminded him to fight together and that was still Anakin's plan as well.
They were a team. Both scenes are their to epitomize Anakins growth, while not only in power, but also mentality. He went from being selfish to a true team player. Learner to Master. Its been that way since the OT. Its a well known Star Wars Troupe. Its not really there to show Obi-Wan as some weakling who can't compete, as we know this not to be true.
@Aristeaus: I'm not saying Anakin was a hindrance that way. I'm well aware that he takes himself out of the fight almost immediately. But I'd also argue that Dooku, if faced with two opponents instead of one, would have probably opted to end the fight much faster rather than waste time toying around with Kenobi like he's clearly doing in their 1v1 in AOTC. Anakin would also very likely still be incapable of defending against Sith Lightning even if he hadn't rushed headlong into it.
My issue stems from how TCW changes the dynamic. Anytime Anakin and Obi-Wan gang up on Dooku in that show, they don't do nearly as well against him compared to Anakin going solo. In the tie-in movie he holds his own and even kicks Dooku down at the end of their duel.
And every time Anakin fights him in TCW he keeps getting noticeably better, and is often visually pressuring Dooku, specifically in season 4 in Shadow Warrior
and again in Crisis on Naboo
This imo gives a very different impression. That being that Anakin is getting closer and closer to beating Dooku. And yet in season 6 we get this battle in The Lost One
and the two of them are still getting washed together. Except in this fight Obi-Wan comes out looking notably inferior, needing help to recover on the edge of the ledge, getting thrown around by Dooku, and even allowing Anakin to go against him solo at the end by giving him a shove. Hell, in the Dark Disciple novel (which I believe was slated to be a season 7 entry for TCW) Anakin gets another 1v1 against Dooku for an extended period and manages to break away without any noticeable injury or notable inferiority to him.

No reason Ventress isn't getting handwaved and then Maul gets butchered.
