Question, sorry for my lack of comic book understanding, but wasn't The Source heavily weakened during the storyline when he fought against Darkseid, which is why Darkseid gave him trouble?

Soulfire Darkseid? Have seen that here in the past but no idea what it means exactly.

That's the version of Darkseid which appeared during the Post-Crisis of Detective Comics where he obtained an item called Soulfire, which allowed him to fight The Source in Death of the New Gods storyline by Jim Starlin.

Grant Morrison Retconned this entire series. Grant says "oopsie, we were working on too much at the time, just forget Death of the New God's entirely." There was a second interview he gave elsewhere, confirming this again, but I can't find it.

Comes down on cosmology interpretation.

Neither were as impressive as they are thought to be. SFDS probably wins, though.

@thought_robot: As I showed in that link, the Source Wall at the time of Death of the New God's surrounded the Promethian Galaxy as part of the edge of the universe. While this comic was being made, where Darkseid battled The Source, Final Crisis and this Cosmic Map was released with a new look at it. We can't link the two as the same because the authors said they made a mistake.

The Dark Knight Metal further directly discussed this exact problem. The Source Wall was busted and behind it was Bleedspace. We learned two things. The first, the Source Wall around each universe was retconned. The second, that the Source Wall was fake around the Multiverse and only lead to Bleedspace. There was nothing behind it. The Souce somewhere in Bleedspace or beyond it. Monitors are the only beings who can bottle The Bleed. Breaking it let out Perpetua. Bleedspace was back there and then Over Monitor eventually.

Nil exists past the Bleedspace. And the Over Monitor's Edge is directly touching Nil.

Mandrakk confirms. He was kicked out of Nil, fell all the way through the Over Monitor and landed in the Dark Dimension, another Multiverse.

So what is this interview trying to tell us?

@godsvileanddarkwing: Death of the New Gods, where this Darkseid and Source fight take place, was written at the same time and just before Final Crisis started. Grant Morrison said just ignore it entirely, the entire comic series of Death of the New Gods. It isn't canon to his cosmology even though he wrote it. He immediately replaced it all with Final Crisis ongoings.

So in otherwords, Soulfire Darkseid is non-canon just like Heart of the Universe Thanos?

I vote Cosmic Armor Superman as Soulfire Darkseid was kinda lackluster. The Source was defeated by a mere three skyfathers.

Superman decides to create a story and the title is "The day Darkseid dies".

Obviously darkseid stands zero chance here. Like this isn't even a fight.

Source in that storyline was nothing impressive at all just like Darkseid.

Just kidding, joked aside, CAS should win handily. Theybwere manipulating stories, actual fiction, The Source has some feats where he was connected to the Presence, but he hasnt really shown them himself. Plus I do not see the Presence being threatened by any other creature whatsoever regardless of power unlike with The Source
