Limits

  • The physical strength of an individual character, whether striking or lifting, can not exceed large mountain busting (3000 meters).
  • The physical durability and endurance of a character can not exceed the strength limit.
  • Reaction speed, combat speed, travel speed, and the speed of any attacks or abilities that travel can not be faster than lightning (Mach 286, can round to Mach 300).
  • Destructive Capacity and Attack Potency are also restricted to the strength limits.

Restrictions

  • No reality warping.
  • No conceptual manipulation, or concept-based attacks like existence erasure.
  • No causality manipulation, or any interference with the laws of the universe.
  • No probability or luck manipulation.
  • No power stealing, copying, or negation.
  • No amping stats beyond the limits, including through weapons, skill, or martial techniques.
  • No death manipulation or instant death attacks.
  • No remote transmutation or transformation (not requiring physical contact), other forms of matter manipulation are allowed.
  • You can amp yourself to the multi-mountain level (2-3 mountains) through draining, but once you reach them further draining will only serve to debuff your opponents.
  • Precognition/future sight is limited to 5 seconds.
  • Cloning is limited to 10, can only be used by 1 character, and clones can not make clones.
  • Summons, constructs, and fodder are limited to 10 and can not be stronger than the character that summons them. Nor can they possess hax that ignores durability.
  • TK is restricted to the strength limit.
  • Regeneration is allowed, but if a character is either A) reduced beyond visual recognition without enhanced sight, or B) scattered beyond the confines of the battlefield, they're considered at least KO'd.
  • BFR can only be accomplished through physical force. Not teleportation, portals, or powers outside of strength. It operates on ring-out principles so once the moment your opponent forces you out of bounds you become instantly disqualified, even if you can return to the battlefield in a reasonable time frame. Battlefields will be specified in every thread.
  • Time manipulation is allowed, but is restricted to accelerating time, slowing down time, rewinding/looping time, or summoning clones from the timestream. Clones follow the cloning limits. Any other form of time manipulation is banned.
  • Telepathy is allowed, but is restricted to mind-reading, memory altering, illusions, hypnosis, paranoia, pacification (forced tranquility, docility or dream-state), fear/nightmare inducement, or hallucinations. Anything else, or allowed functions at a high tier level, (continental and above) is banned.
  • Soul manipulation is allowed but is restricted to removal or altering and can't exceed the range of the battlefield.
  • Space manipulation is allowed, but vector manipulation is banned and everything else can't exceed the range of the battlefield.

Rules

  • 1 week to post openers, 10 days for rebuttals. You can request up to a 3-day extension in either case. The opener time limit applies to both users concurrently.
  • No more than 3 posts.
  • You need a completed CaV or tourney to join.
  • Don't join if you don't intend to see it through.
  • Characters are whatever version fits the limits, if it needs to be composite then sure.
  • My word is final of course.

Voting Incentives

Instead of rewarding people just for making it to the second round, I've decided to implement a system that rewards voting, in order to ensure we get votes on all matches.

  • If you're a participant, there are 7 total possible matches you can vote on, excluding your own. If you're a reserve you can vote an all 8.
  • If you vote on 2 matches (to my satisfaction) you can change a perk going into the next round
  • If you vote on 4 matches you can add a perk
  • If you vote on all of them you can swap a character
  • Win by death, knockout, incapacitation, or BFR.

In-depth Limit Clarifications

  • Power negation refers to the act of directly and remotely disabling your opponent's abilities or powers. Conditional power negation, i.e adaptative evolution, immunity, chi blocking, or more specific and esoteric applications of this ability are allowed. The purpose here is to ensure the battle remains competitive by requiring at least some level of physical interaction between the characters, and not just making them instantly powerless.
  • Power copying, power stealing, and power absorption are still completely banned.
  • Once the battle starts you can only amp yourself by consuming/draining the opponents' various energies, but likewise I'll introduce some perks for protection if that happens to be your character's weakness.
  • If you want to amp yourself during prep, you can do it through any means at all, so long as it doesn't surpass the amping limits. Which are multi-mountain level.
  • You can not amp summons, constructs, fodder, or clones under any circumstances.
  • Don't pick a character blatantly over the limits and try to justify them by saying you'll ignore their powers that are over the limits and just use what's allowed. How about you stop being lazy and look for a character that's allowed instead.
  • BFR is allowed through physical strength, but self-BFR is not allowed. You have to have a physical presence on the battlefield at all times. Going into another dimension and staying there indefinitely (i.e Kamui or Mirror Master) while leaving an illusion of yourself present is only allowed for the purposes of intangibility or defense - it is NOT a win condition and you still have to fight.
  • You can not BFR your teammates.
  • Battlefields will be randomized unless you pick the Choose Battlefield perk. The parameters/bounds of the battlefield will be specified in every thread. With the perk, you can dictate starting distance and time of day. You can not choose a location that's over the limits.
    • What this means is you can't pick a place where the environment is beyond the durability/endurance limits of the characters and/or instantly surpasses their regeneration threshold. You also can't choose somewhere that's indestructible and try to fuse with it.
  • Teamwork is not a factor but Perfect Teamwork is necessary for strategies that incorporate such.
  • Time acceleration/deceleration can not exceed 1000x the normal speed or flow of time.
  • Affecting the opponents during prep in any way is not allowed.

Captain Cold and The Engineer are two very different characters who share three very important commonalities: they're smart, they're deadly, and they work well together in groups.

Leonard Snart is Captain Cold, a cunning thief from Central City and the de-facto leader of the notorious supervillain alliance known as The Rogues; making him one of the most prominent enemies of the entire Flash Family. Over the years, he's developed a variety of technology to aid him in nefarious plots, but one thing remains freezingly consistent: the power of his ice.

Angela Spica on the other hand is known as The Engineer, and for good reason. She's the brains of The Authority and Stormwatch, super teams that have seen and done it all. As her name implies, she can create just about anything, and her intellect combined with the fact that she produces her own resources gives her virtually unlimited potential in a setting like this.

Once united, they're greater than the sum of their parts and will cook up a plan that can bring down even the mightiest of foes.

Laying the Framework

Characters are aware that they're in a battle. With 30 minutes to prepare, perfect teamwork, and without knowledge of what's to come, Leonard and Angela will likely exhaust all their options to make themselves as ready as possible to confront danger. Angela will be the MVP of the early stages due to her composition and powerset. Her body is shapeshifting liquid; she has metal blood flowing with nanites that endow a variety of capabilities. They allow her to adapt to almost any experience, environment, or stimuli, protecting her from adverse effects as soon as she encounters them, and providing her with greater control over powers like her technopathy. She can rearrange matter around her at the atomic level, spread and construct both biological and technological viruses, absorb and manipulate energy, generate electrical storms, force fields, and completely control the battleground.

To maximize worker productivity, the first and most likely course of action would be for Angela to duplicate herself with copies. She frequently operates multiple bodies at once when undertaking large-scale projects. Such as entrapping the living embodiment of the Sun and turning its solar energy into a reactor, after replicating the carrier technology that holds a baby universe inside to power its systems. She can create up to 82 high-functioning, self-aware, fully independent bodies to speed up the battle preparation procedure with her partner.

Because of the cloning limits, they'll be restricted to 10, but that's more than enough to get the job done. So here's some crucial information: The Engineer is a bit of a "meta" character. But this quality is canon to her and the way the Wildstorm was written. Angela has read and owns every single DC comic published since 1956! And it was explicitly stated that when she was growing up, as a comic book addict, she fantasized over the stories of the Flash and Green Lantern. This means she quite literally knows everything there is to know about Captain Cold since Pre-Crisis. Which will be very helpful in their collaborative efforts here, especially because I have perfect teamwork knitting them together. Once the bodies have been produced, Angela will use radiotelepathy to mind link her and Leonard to keep them in perfect sync during the building stage and the actual battle.

She's downloaded the entire global internet to her mind which gives her access to vast amounts of knowledge and resources, including (at least) all the comics available in DC, Wildstorm, and Vertigo. Once this knowledge can be shared with Captain Cold, it becomes even easier for them to put their brains together (literally), create any tech they can think of that's within their power to make, and formulate foolproof strategies using their most capable techniques.

Each Engineer is constantly surrounded by a web of atom-sized machine sensors that disperse like a gas cloud into their surrounding area. Which allows her to completely map the base of the island and detect even the most minute environmental changes. With the stage set, the next phase of my prep involves Engineer and Captain Cold recreating tech they've made before - but using her clones and nanites to mass-produce them on an assembly line, as if she were a walking corporate manufacturer.

This is not only easy to accomplish in a matter of minutes, but it's also in-character and plausible considering they've both pulled off more complicated feats in shorter amounts of time, and in worse situations without nearly as many resources. Captain Cold rebuilt his Cold Gun while incarcerated using spare freezer parts he found in prison.

Meanwhile, The Engineer can literally create constructs or replicate them out of thin air on the fly, such as emergency medical equipment to stabilize a grievously wounded Midnighter. So going through the trouble of rebuilding them isn't even necessary. She can produce what she needs if she understands the technology. And she should be capable of understanding any technology you can imagine, considering she was able to incorporate a baby universe inside The Authority's interdimensional spaceship the Carrier as its main energy source.

She can also fuse with metal and technology, which fortunately works in my favor thanks to the battlefield being largely comprised of so. The Carrier is a massive "shiftship" that's omnipresent on Earth and exists in every dimension on every plane of existence at the same time. It can also access alternate timelines and realities and shift to any point in space and time in the past, present or future throughout the entire multiverse, and Angela completely fused with it in a matter of seconds.

Though she is no longer fused with it, she maintains a radiotelepathic connection with the ship at all times and can remotely access its functions as part of her standard gear. The level of connection Angela can establish with any iota of metal, technology or mechanics can not be overstated because of the power of her nanites. The Engineer's blood is so densely concentrated with nanites that a single drop was able to exponentially multiply and spread throughout every tectonic fissure of the Earth's crust in moments, fuse with Skywatch's construct, and reinforce a new mantle for the entire planet that made it more durable and robust than it was before Armageddon, or ever had been at any point in its history.

So Angela can easily fuse with Utopia (the base that we're fighting on) making her pretty impossible to detect once you spawn, and further impossible to assault once she reinforces its structural integrity and additionally sets up exterior defenses. Angela can project shields that are invulnerable to attacks at the level of the tourney's strength and DC/AP limits, as she did when she created dozens of shields in orbit to protect the Earth from gigantic fireballs ejected from the Sun directly, blocking them from crashing into the planet:

As this was accomplished with clones, it should be noted that only one Angela (the primary) needs to fuse with Utopia. The rest can set up shields that adapt to your attacks and layer them on top of each other, making them that much harder to penetrate. Generating multiple stacked shields at the durability limits which can reform once broken, adapt to attacks thanks to nanites, and can be reapplied indefinitely. With the Carrier's Doors, she can open shields in the past as well as the future, offering complete coverage no matter when or where you attack her from.

Offensively, one of the easiest and most lethal things Angela can do here is spread her airborne particle nanites through the battlefield. These nanobots propel a web of knives that can "slip between atoms" which she uses to tear apart the Gamorran mass-produced supersoldiers into literal nothingness. This implies destruction on a sub-atomic level. Note: these guys were razing major cities during this arc.

With the clones and Angela being part Utopia herself, the entire battlefield itself can now instantly rend you into elementary particles as soon as the match begins. Which I should add is beyond the allowed regeneration threshold. But even if it wasn't, regeneration itself is literally impossible here due to Captain Cold. Allow me to explain :)

Phase 2

As I've shown, Angela can recreate any technology she understands, and she understands the Carrier which exists outside of space and time and can achieve an assortment of impossible time/space/dimensional/anomalous reality feats. This should prove she can manifest and empower Leonard's tech even if she hadn't read all of The Flash's comics. If you're just a natural skeptic and you still think I'm reaching, then consider the fact that my characters are mind-linked and have perfect teamwork, which means they'll communicate, pool their resources together, and share all the knowledge and information they have to employ the best strategy regardless.

Now, Captain Cold is literally a regular person who can consistently fight the Flash all because of his Cold weapons. His main weapon is his Cold Gun, which in short weaponizes Zero Point Energy; not just absolute zero. The reason why is because even at absolute zero, which is the complete halt of entropy, the fundamental particles retain quantum vibrational motion but at the minimum levels achievable naturally. Whereas the Cold Gun prevents the movement or generation of thermal energy and motion completely. According to Captain Cold himself, his gun "negates thermal motion and stops protons and electrons dead in their tracks."

So he doesn't necessarily freeze things as much as he completely invalidates thermodynamics. Things like regeneration still involve motion and the abstraction of energy transference. But anything frozen solid by Captain Cold simply becomes brittle and breaks off/disintegrates.

His cold gun blasts are cold enough to stalemate Superman's heat vision, and those frozen by Captain Cold can't be melted even by concentrated fire from Heatwave's flamethrower. This was literally in the same comic where it was stated that Heatwave's flamethrower can melt the Flash's friction-proof boots...

Characters that can break out of ice or being frozen solid can't hope to counter this either. Captain Cold easily froze The Top who was able to shatter Zatanna's ice after being encased in her ice spell. Zatanna's magic and spells can at times border on reality warping.

The strongest function of the Cold Gun is the Cold Field, which once deployed passively stops and freezes anything that enters its area of effect. According to Leonard himself, nothing short of a speeding Flash has enough momentum to move in the Cold Field, and even then "he'll be slowed to a crawl".

And this is a practical example of exactly what was described actually happening, where he tosses a bottle into his cold field and it becomes suspended animation. Cool thing to note is that his cold beam then travels through the Cold Field showing his blasts are unaffected, but yeah even Flash struggled to move through it.

The Cold Field moves with Captain Cold maintaining an area of absolute defense around his body, passively shutting down anything that gets close to him. But that's not the extent of Captain Cold's technology or weapons. Leonard also has a standard utility belt with a devastating function, which I'll dub the Cold Wave. He generated an impulse of absolute cold across the entirety of Central City, leaving everyone and everything in a state of suspended animation. Only he and Iris were spared because he treated them with negative radiation beforehand, and the wave formed an impenetrable ice barrier that cut off the city from the rest of the world. The barrier was so strong that it was able to completely stonewall a speeding Flash, and he had to shift to a higher vibrational frequency and gradually drill through the ice - which again he did from the outside in. There's no guarantee he would've been able to move at all if he was already caught in it. The ice also closed up behind him so no one else could get in or out.

The last and most important piece of Captain Cold's tech here is a special, evolved version of the Cold Gun that he built in Rebirth using S.T.A.R. Lab's black hole tech that created the Speed Force Storm. The gun has an engine inside of it that can tap into the Speed Force itself, and it not only freezes things like before, but now it can absorb and disrupt the Speed Force and prevent Flash from vibrating through it like he did moments before.

This feat is obscenely impressive for so many reasons. Absorbing the speed force is known to be impossible because it is an infinite energy source that has instantly overwhelmed drainers and siphons. Wally West ran so fast that Barry Allen (arguably the second fastest Flash) couldn't even perceive him, and he overloaded Cobalt Blue's draining with Speed Force energy when he tried to absorb/drain Wally's speed after the latter eclipsed lightspeed.

I'm not scaling the Barry and Wally as they have different levels of connection to the Speed Force, but Wally's feat among a plethora of statements from characters, narrators, and text boxes, demonstrates the mechanics of the Speed Force as a force of the universe. It is consistently boundless and immutable. For Leonard to successfully depower any Flash even just momentarily with the Cold Gun and prevent him from breaking out of ice (something he shattered on the previous page) is insane, especially because it showcases his tech's capabilities to absorb, nullify or disturb even infinite energy sources that span DC's entire cosmology.

Now it was only temporary, as Barry simply went into overdrive and kicked his vibrations to a higher gear and managed to escape a few pages after - but A) he expressly credits his experience with black hole's tech, and B) it should be duly noted that Captain Cold didn't freeze his whole body. Just enough to still hold a conversation with him. You won't be that lucky here and you can't move as fast as Flash anyway. Now Leonard has Angela, someone that can create and boost tech that adapts to different situations. Angela can also instantly get full knowledge on your team either through radiotelepathy or based on her nanites sensing the slightest changes in the environment and atmosphere.

The Battle

With the lengths that I went to establish cooperation between Angela and Leonard, it should be pretty easy to see where I'm going with this. First, I'll go over prep again. The section was long because I explained their powers but the actual things they do shouldn't take more than a few minutes to finish:

  • Angela establishes a mind link with Leonard, they share information, and she creates 10 clones and goes to work.
  • Angela prime fuses with Utopia. She and her clones disperse their atom-sized nanobots throughout the battlefield and erect layers and layers of shields.
  • She mass reproduces the Cold Gun engine and spreads the Cold Field throughout the battlefield.
  • Captain Cold activates the Cold Wave on top of that.

That's it! Very simple. So once the battle starts, you will:

  • Instantly be frozen, in ice that even characters who break out of flash freeze ice spells can't escape, which stalemates Superman's heat vision which IIRC hits supernova level temperatures, and was unmeltable to Heatwave's flamethrower who melts Flash's friction proof gear.
  • Have the motion of your elementary sub-atomic particles and phenomena completely neutralized, preventing any bodily function or use of energy whatsoever.
  • Being destroyed and shredded apart on the sub-atomic level by nanobots that were already in the air when you spawned.
  • Be instantly drained of all your energy and/or cut off from all your energy sources once the nanites analyze and adapt to you, even if they're infinite and exist throughout the multiverse.

To cement an extra win condition just for good measure, ring out would be exceedingly easy to accomplish once you're frozen. I can literally just pick you up and toss you outside of the island, considering Engineer is fused with much of the base herself.
