S.H.I.E.L.D. has gotten word that a pair of World Class threats have been targeting powerful individuals around the globe. They've been tracked down in Washington D.C. so the organisation sent in two of their most efficient specialists to eliminate the enemy force at all costs. Will they make it, or are they going to actually "die out there"?

Clint Barton, "Hawkeye"

"Well I played 18. Shot 18. Just can't seem to miss."

Biography

While not much is known about his early life yet, other than that he used to be a professional circus acrobat, Clint Francis Barton was born in 1971. By his teenage years, he had met his wife, whom she married and made a family with. A little later, he was targeted and handpicked by Nick Fury, Director of SHIELD, due to his special talent and combat abilities, to partake in the organisation as a top operative, even earning the codaname "Hawkeye" for his borderline inhuman precision. After years of training, he was sent on a mission to assassinate Natasha Romanoff, a.k.a the Black Widow, as she had gotten on SHIELD's radar after her growing threat to the global security. Barton neglected the orders and instead took over Romanoff to work as a SHIELD agent. Eventually, the two formed a legendary team inside SHIELD entitled 'Strike Team Delta'. Clint was one of the first choices to be a founder of the Avengers, the Initiative Fury was working on in order to gather the best they could find, so they could defend the planet against future threats. Alongside Captain America, the Black Widow, Thor, the Hulk and Iron Man, Hawkeye has assisted into protecting the earth against various forces, such as Loki and Ultron. In the day S.H.I.E.L.D. fell, Barton was reportedly on a special mission in Afghanistan and therefore did not partake in the battle against HYDRA, despite his status. During the clash of the Avengers, Barton was pit to fight against Stark's team alongside Captain America. After been arested for crimes against the Government, he was set free by Rogers, and returned to official retirement back on his secret farm, where his wife and children have been safely living, at least to this point.

Ranged Combat (Marksmanship, Speed, Agility, Stealth)

Weapons

- Collapsible Recurve Bow: Clint's bow of choice is a 5 ft. long, carbon fiber covered, Recurve bow, with a laser attached to aid his aim
- Quiver w/Conventional & Trick Arrows: Clint's equipped with conventional arrows strong enough to pierce through highily bulletproof Ultron Sentries. In addition SHIELD and Stark Industries have also upgraded Clint's arsenal of arrows with speciailsed Trick Heads that allow for multiple, versatile functions, activated from the side of his bow. These are functions like Explosive [capable of disintegrating hard Chitauri metal, more powerful than any terrestrial metal and likely the most powerful one known in the unvierse besides Uru and Vibranium, used to build warships, whilst sending a being as powerful as Loki, flying], Taser [producing voltage high enough to incapacitate the Vision, an android built as Ultron's wet dream, for several seconds - also note that it projects electricity before it lands on the target], Scatter [capable of breaking up in a number of arrows to surround the target], Burst Shot [projecting small heat projectiles upon landing to deal AoE damage even after the inital shot's been made] and Pulse [capable of sending out a 360 degree shockwave that incapacitates targets at what appears to be about 50 feet radius]
- Heckler & Kock P30: Clint's sidearm is a Heckler & Kock P30, which he carries for the past 4 years during his missions with the Avengers

Marksmanship

Clint is a master marksman, preferring in archery. His SHIELD Personnel File lists him as the greatest living marksman on the planet, in an organisation that has produced Agents like Hill, Ward and Romanoff. He is skilled in sniping, mid-range shots, pinpointing targets even in motion and timing each of his shots while factoring in the effects of the environment around him.

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2
Avengers: Operation HYDRA

Clint is exceptionally fast on the draw, even with someone as traditional as a bow. While training in the New Avengers Facility, he drew and fired 3 arrows in 1.9 second(s), and implies he can do better than that.

Avengers: Age of Ultron
Avengers: Age of Ultron

Clint is talented in the use of many ranged weapons and high tech devices, adept in throwing knives and darts. When the Avengers were netflixing and chilling in his Family Farmhouse, Clint showed he can effortlessly pinpoint 3 darts simultaneously in a bullseye from about a yard away.

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3Gallery image 4
The Avengers

I believe the above showings from Clint's first combat debut film demonstrate his ability in each relevant category of marskmanship:

  • Scan 1: at approximately 30,000 ft. in the air, Clint calculates the force of the air currents around the Helicarrier and fires an arrow on the side of the ship opposite to his own by curving it mid-flight in the perfect angle, with perfect timing to tag the wall outside the room the Avengers were in
  • Scan 2: Clint tags a high speed Chitauri Jet, timing the shot perfectly with his back turned, demonstrating excellent awareness and accuracy to pinpoint a moving target speeding through the air and destroy it
  • Scan 3: Clint fires an arrow designed to be attached in a USB slot and infiltrate an advanced system, he makes that pinpoint shot from at least what is about 60-70 ft. away; [1st screenshot] we can see the distance between Clint and the center of the control room, [2nd screenshot] we can see the computers in which he fired the Trick Arrow are located on the other end of the room, this is how far away Clint is from something as small and compex as a USB slot (with tiny little holes in it), and yet he perfectly attaches the head in there
  • Scan 4: Clint snipes a Chitauri Soldier controlling a Jet from a distance of 4 buildings (skyscrapers) away, this time utilising the laser function on his bow too to make a successful headshot. Keep in mind that (a) the Jet itself is seen speeding in front of Clint at impossible blur speeds and (b) each of those 4 buildings seems to have about 10, 6+ feet long windows. That is over 200 ft. distance between Clint and the super fast Jet, and he still managed to land a headshot with no real effort

Speed / Agility / Stealth

Clint used to be a professional circus acrobat at a young age, knowing the fundamentals of agility. His reflex has been highlighted more than once by canonical sources, such as SHIELD. In an organisation where regular field agents (basically cannon fodder) can catch thrown knives and throw them back with pinpoint accuracy through sheer muscle memory, and where the Specialists can react to arrow+ speed surprise attacks, Clint deemed with having "incredible" reaction speeds is very noteworthy. The Marvel Studios Visual Dictionary, (a canonical source analysing the world-building behind the MCU films), Clint's reflexes are called 'astonishing', particularly complimenting his skills with a bow. Additionally, his training within SHIELD has helped him develop his abilities as a spy and an assassin, to the level where he has total awareness of his surroundings and is capable of using stealth as a tool on missions.

Captain America: Civil War
  • Scan 1: Clint slides across hard floor while firing a shot at Iron Man, keep in mind that minutes beforehand, Tony proves fast enough to blow a series of arrows out of the air, meaning Clint should be moving incredibly fast and/or unpredictably here to dodge the Repulsor
  • Scan 2: Clint makes a spiral leap to dodge out War Machine's Repulsor blast at close range - seemingly, he started moving after the blast was made, so it doubles as a reaction feat
The Avengers
The Avengers

Clint reacts to Chitauri blasts surprising him from above. He turns around the moment they make the shot after he takes out another one crawling upwards and dodges one of them after it's been fired. Those are very fast, to the point where in similar situations, fighters like Captain America, who can react to RPGs more than twice as fast as arrows after they've been fired, were been overwhelmed and could not properly react. Yet Clint dodges one coming out of nowhere.

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2
The Avengers
  • Scan 1: Clint reacts to a blast from the Mind Stone on Loki's Scepter after it's been fired, and rolls out of the way. Now, I'm not a fan of using distance-based fan-calcs to measure the speed of projectiles like those, but for what it's worth, I think this should be pretty fast and has, generally speaking, crossed great distances in no time.
  • Scan 2: Same as above, only this time, Clint is fast enough to get Fury out of the way and let the both of them land with no injury.
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Avengers: Age of Ultron

Clint notices Scarlet Witch approaching him from behind to mind control him, and swiftly incapacitates her with a Taser Arrow. This is noteworthy awareness, as in the same scene, Wanda even managed to sneak up on Thor, an Asgardian God likely possessing superhuman sensory.

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2
The Avengers
  • Scan 1: Clint infiltrates a SHIELD Facility tasked with guarding a storage of Iridium, silently taking out 2 Agents from two different levels, seemingly with shots made from different directions. This is the kind of comicbook-ish stealth required to take on your characters, and he definitely has it, demonstrating exceptional "teleportation-like" mobility to make silent killshots and ghost highily trained operatives.
  • Scan 2: Clint noticed Black Widow attempting to ghost him and turns to attack her in time - keep in mind that Widow is one of the most dangerous master assassins and the single best spy on the planet, has managed to sneak up on Loki, who himself stated that there aren't many people that could achieve such feat, and with one of her SHIELD files even commenting on her stealth. This shows exceptional awareness on Clint's part.

Melee Combat (Skill, Striking, Damage Soak)

Weapons

- Collapsible Recurve Bow: Clint used an upgraded version of his bow, now capable of turning into a Staff for combat. This 5 feet long weapon offers great reach over most others, and allows Clint for versatile use between this and regular function of it, switching from Bow to Staff in the middle of a fight.
- Collapsible Baton: Clint is also armed with a concealed foot long baton, which he attempted to use against Vision.
- Custom Dagger: Cilnt has another concealed melee weapon, a specialised Dagger with which he's trained with, a weapon that can pierce through the body is always a solid addition so long as the fighter is willing to use it.

Skill

Clint is an excellent hand to hand combatant, highily skilled in armed martial arts and experienced in applying them in combat. Like all SHIELD Specialists on his level, he's trained in abusing the fundamentals of combat incredibly well in a fight, and has extensive technical knowledge on fighting styles, having taken on world class combatants more than once.

Captain America: Civil War
Captain America: Civil War

In the Clash of the Avengers, Clint had a brief exchange with Black Widow armed with her Tonfa, where he used his Bow, being on the offensive for a little while, dodging an attempt from her and quickly pinning her ground after outgrappling her - the last part is particularly impressive seeing as Widow is not only an incredibly skilled martial artist, but she's also a great fighter, capable of grappling with and defending against superhuman opponents herself.

Obviously, this is not an amazingly credible fight, seeing as they were both 'pulling their punches' fighting as friends, but it's still worth brining up and is a nice demonstration of Clint's ability to keep up with skilled fighters in CQC. Can't scale him to Natasha's best fights, but she can regularly (a) effortlessly take out small tactical teams of HYDRA Agents, even snapping their necks simultaneously with her thigh grip, (b) outpace alien warriors in Corvus Glaive, one of Thanos' 4 Generals, and physically knock them down with focused strikes - keep in mind Glaive possesses superhuman speed and physilogy, and is considered a Master of his weapon of choice, and (c) keep up with, and counter Ant-Man and his size manipulation in combat.

Of course I should also bring up their most serious fight on board the Helicarrier when Clint was under the effects of Loki's mind control. While Natasha did beat him handily there, it was far from one sided - he managed to successfuly grapple with her again. For instance in the very beginning of the fight, he counters her attempt to get him in an arm lock by swiftly turning around and elbowing her in the face, fending her away, quickly switching positions between an archery form and a combat form. Later in the fight, he shows decent skills with his knife, flipping it from one arm to the other and then cornering her to get her in a submissive position at point blank from the blade.

Striking, Durability

Clint is at peak of human physical condition, he can deal damage to highily durable beings with his regular melee weapons and can take a hit or two before going down to enhansed beings. This section is mostly dedicated to proving that he should be able to work even after a single hit from a Super Soldier, and that they would probably feel most of his strikes.

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2
The Avengers
Gallery image 1Gallery image 2
Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War
  • Scan 1: Hawkeye takes a direct rush/blitz from Quicksilver and gets knocked down, but get back up almost immediately. Pietro is capable of shattering Ultron Sentries with his more focused bullrushes, so tanking even one of his less serious hits is impressive.
  • Scan 2: Hawkeye tanks a palm strke from the Vision, get send flying but balances himself perfectly while drawing his baton - even an obviously holding back hit from someone on (AoU) Thor and Ultron's weight class is about as dangerous as anything a Super Soldier can dish out (besides Bucky's metal arm)

Notable Combat Feats

These accuracy, draw, versatality and skill showings are worthless if you can't apply them in active combat situations. Fortunetely, Clint has been tested against maximum threat level as far as street level fighters go, and has performed as well as anyone could.

- Vs The Ultron Sentries (Avengers: Age of Ultron)

In the Battle of Sokovia, Clint took on hordes of Ultron's army and demonstrated very high kill count. Keep in mind that the Ultron Sentries are androids completely bulletproof besides very specific parts of their heads (the eyes), are strong enough to overturn cars while digging out of the ground, can fly and have powerful repulsor-type weapons. At some point, their sheer numbers even began overwhelming the Avengers.

No Caption Provided

Clint could take out handfuls of them in seconds, using quickdraw to land eyeshots and take them out while surronded, taking them out approaching from multiple angles. Even fighting them in smaller groups, Clint demonstrated extreme proficiency with his bow and arrow, a bit later, he lands 2 eyeshots simultaneously, as a testament to both his accuracy and volume, and then he somersaults over an Ultron Sentry dodging its attempt and taking it out with an arrow head on.

While him and Scarlet Witch defended the bridge to evacuate the city, Clint took out several Sentries coming from every direction, handling them effortlessly both in range and up close using his arrows as melee weapons, sometimes while dodging their energy blasts.

No Caption Provided

This shot in particular is extremely impressive due to several factors;

  • Clint was at a good distance away, at least 30-40 ft.
  • The Ultron Sentry was not only hovering very swiftly, moving extremely fast in the air, it was also moving in a highily unpredictable manner. Not a lot of marskemen have showings like this, but pinning down non-telegraphed targets is on a tier of its own, in every category, from accuracy to draw speed.

The combination of these factors is why it's also one of Clint's greatest demonstrations of ranged ability. As for the final battle, Clint fought side by side with his fellow Avengers and took out a large horde of Sentries on his own.

No Caption Provided

He lands a handful of headshots, even more than one simultaneously, left and right before blowing many of them up with an Explosive Arrow at close range. I want to note here that it proves he's willing to use Explosive Arrows of medium capacity, still powerful enough to destroy powerful targets, at almost point blank from him. He won't get caught in the radius. After they close in, he also went hand to hand with some of them, in the close up we even see him knocking one down with a kick after he jabs a part of its head off with his bow.

- Vs Black Panther (Captain America: Civil War)

In the Clash of the Avengers, Clint took on T'Challa, aka. the Black Panther, fully geared up. Before we get to how impressive Hawkeye's performance in this duel was, I should establish how good T'Challa is. His fully enhansed physiology, in every area, from strength, durability, speed and sensory, combined with his training to become a warrior of peak levels, withgreat skill and tactical ability - showings through his fights with the Winter Soldier - make him a highily formidable opponent alone. When he's suited in Vibranium weave head to toe and armed with Vibranium Claws, he's an extreme force to be reckoned with.

No Caption Provided

The initial exchange begins with Hawkeye shooting at T'Challa, with the latter dodging them until Clint borderline overwhelms him with sheer draw speed and tactical use of his volume. He forces him to catch, ergo make contuct with, Clint's next 2 arrows fired simultaneously, by firing while T'Challa is still dodging the previous shot, somersaulting to close in. Clint practically tagged T'Challa here and accomplished headway through his draw speed, clever use of the arsenal and Trick heads of the arrows. [additionally, here is some BTS footage showing how Clint forced T'Challa to catch the arrows]. I'd like to note that Black Panther is a rather 'casual' bullet timer, slicing a bullet in 3 at close range after it' been fired.

No Caption Provided

Afterwards, they take it to CQC, Clint opens by attacking Panther using his staff, spinning it to add momentum. T'Challa dodges the attempt and retaliates with his own, which Clint defends from. The exchange keeps going on, and at some points Clint is successfuly grappling with him, T'Challa even grabs the staff but Clint breaks out of that hold. He also blocks and dodges two incoming kicks in quick succession - [here is additional BTS footage for that] - basically, Clint is going blow for blow with T'Challa for quite a while, over 40 seconds overall, until he even outmaneuvers him enough to use his bow and get him on a hold of his own.

Fighting a metahuman of T'Challa's level on such even terms for a little while is a very impressive feat of both technical skill (the ability to outmaneuver a martial artist of T'Challa's tier, whilst also at a strong speed and weaponry disadvantage), and practical application of fundamentals (use of monmentum, balance, well placed strikes and/or parrying, advanced grappling techniques, clever use of agility and perfect brain-muscle co ordination) to overcome the physical disparity actually fight the Panther physically, not having to rely on hit and run tactics alone - this is something I will address later on in the post too. I have to note that Panther is definitely superior to either Super Soldier of your team in physiology (with the possible exception of brute strength) and just as skilled or moreso. To compare him directly to Bucky, I've linked one of their 3 fights, in which he consistently holds the upper hand.

Summary

Hawkeye is the MVP of this fight, his extremely versatile arenal, coupled with his ability to lands shots on either Super Soldier here is formidable enough on its own. Adding in the damage output of some of his Trick Arrows, and the fact that he doesn't even have to actually tag the opponents themselves, it's of no question to me that he's taking a strong majority over either Slade or Buck here. Even in the unfortunate scenario that they close in, Clint is good enough to give them a solid exchange, making deal a bit of damage with a well placed knife strike, or he could open distance again and play the mid-range game.

Bobbi Morse, "Mockingbird"

"S.H.I.E.L.D.'s not S.H.I.E.L.D. anymore. I'm trying to figure out where I fit in, too."

Biography

Little to nothing is known about Barbara Morse's early life, other than that she had earned a degree in Biology in college. Sometime during her first adult years, Bobbi was recruited by S.H.I.E.L.D. and trained in the Academy in the field of Operations to become one of the agency's finest Specialists. Widely regarded as an expert spy, a master assassin and a world class combatant, she earned the codename "Mockingbird". Somewhere along the way, she also met Lance Hunter, supposedly the love of her life, but couldn't let herself get attached to a relationship due to her devotion to SHIELD. She was one of the few agents Nick Fury trsuted the most, tasked with regaining control of the 'Illiad', one of the main Helicarriers in the organisation, during the HYDRA uprising. Morse achieved so, and about a year later, Phil Coulson, new Director of SHIELD, tasked her with an undercover job at a main HYDRA Base, where she rose through the rankings as the Security Official and gathered intel. That is, until Agent Simmons, an agent sent in on the same Base broke her cover, and Morse was by extent forced to protect her and fleed the Base. Unknown to Coulson, she was spying on him the whole time, while working with his Team. Despite her respect for him, she didn't believe he was right for Director, and was secretly serving a smaller SHIELD Team led by Robert Gonzales. When the Inhuman Crisis broke off though, the Teams were forged into one, with Coulson leading SHIELD once and for all. Throughout this time she has partaken in several missions, including tracking down Grant Ward, one of the new Heads of HYDRA, and dismantling his agency, securing members of the Index, SHIELD's list of enhansed threats, rescuing Jemma Simmons from been sucked into a different solar system, gathering intel for the global Inhuman infection and lastly, and protecting a Russian Government Official by assassinating another, that other having gone through Terrigenesis. That day, been captured by the Armed Forces in Siberia, Bobbi decided to leave SHIELD in order to protect the secrecy of the organisation. Some time in 2016, Morse and Hunter decided to get married again, but apparently their wedding was called off due to Ninja attacking them. It is unknown wether or not Morse has survived Thanos' Snap.

Equipment

  • Tactical Stealth Suit
  • Dual Battle Staves
    • Stun Function
    • Laser Projection
    • Magnetic Attachment
  • Smith & Wesson M&P
  • I.C.E.R.

Melee Combat (Skill, Striking, Damage Soak)

Weapons

- Dual Battle Staves: Bobbi carries a pair of 1.5 foot long metalic batons used for close combat. These batons, constructed of some very strong metal of which bullets ricochet right off, were created by SHIELD to include several functions, including a heat/laser projection one, which won't really be of use in combat, and a Stun function, which is a particularly powerful tool of Bobbi's arsenal; high voltage electricity comes right out of the sides of the Staves, allowing her to deal insane amounts of damage and incapacitate superhuman opponents of a very high caliber; the voltage is so high that it killed a peak human in Kebo, Grant Ward's right hand man while building the New HYDRA, but the true testament to its power is the ability to incapacitate Agent Mackenzie while he was under the effects of an ancient Kree Temple, ergo enhansed to Kree level of physiology - he was durable enough to barely flinch after he was shot twice by an I.C.E.R. (we'll establish how impressive that is in the next section), and then took a 100 feet long fall with no injuries. Yet, Bobbi's Saves could produce enough electricity to knock him unconscious.

Striking / Damage Soak

Bobbi is one of the most efficient physical specimens as far as peak humans go. By word of Melinda May scouting her at the SHIELD Academy for Operations, she was the 'strongest recruit she'd ever seen'. Bobbi's taken on enough superhuman opponents to suggest she can take on a Super Soldier and faze them with some of her hits. Adding to that, she can also take a punch.

Agents of SHIELD: One of Us
Agents of SHIELD: One of Us

Bobbi's proven strong enough to hit an end of a very large, wooden table with her batons and overturn it, while on a mission to secure Karla Gideon, a metahuman. It might not look particularly impressive at first, but I feel like it's noteworthy if you comprehend the impossibility of this feat been accomplished by anyone IRL. In terms of raw striking, Bobbi's nothing less than exceptional, even if this alone might not be enough to suggest she can compete with the opponents here.

However, Bobbi also has direct showings of making headway against superhuman opposition, particularly against beings of a higher weight class than the ones she's up against here. It's mostly just staggering them, which is what I'm arguing she can do to a Super Soldier.

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2
Agents of SHIELD: Who You Really Are, Ye Who Enter Here
Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3
Agents of SHIELD: S.O.S. I

Bobbi's fight against Grant Ward himself is one of her more impressive showings in combat, mostly due to the context involved around her already impressive performance. To put things into perspective, this is what Bobbi had gone through the same day:

  1. Ward shot her with I.C.E.R. 4 times at point blank range
  2. presumably she was physically tortured seeing as her face is injured and bloody
  3. Ward injected her with a combination of pain-killers and paralysing toxins, before placing long needles under her fingernails. The reason for that is because, according to him, 'any agent worth their salt can adapt to pain, push it away', so he 'took a different approach', to have the pain flood inside her body all at once. Also worth noting that the particular method of torture was handpicked for Bobbi because he knew she had a fear for needles

Despite all that, Bobbi was building strength to timely get off her handcuffs and attempt to escape by fighting Ward (and was actually gaining the upper hand until his partner, Agent 33, came to his assistance):

  • Scan 1: she uses a momentum-building drop kick to knock him down and rolling back on the ground
  • Scan 2: she kicks him and forces him several feet, throwing him off balance and crushing on a wall
  • Scan 3: she, again, uses a drop kick to send him flying through the glass window and knock him down

Bobbi occasionally ragdolled Ward in this fight, damaged him and made him bleed with her bare hands, and all that is quite impressive given Ward's physique and damage soak - which obviously does not compare to that of a Super Soldier, but I will elaborate in a minute regardless. Ward can take 2 bullets to the chest at medium range and keep standing, merely flinching for a few moments, and tank repeated hits and/or slams from Centipede Soldiers, basically Super Soldiers injected with a composite serum, whose ingredients I'm going to bring up later in the post. These guys are strong enough to break apart large steel doors and send them flying, as well as push around large containers with 1 arm - and yet Ward didn't bleed fighting them. He took a quick punch in the face from one of them and tanked it, and then ran to intercept another full front attempt that sent him flying. Despite that, he was back on his feet about 15 seconds later. I think this speaks volumes of Bobbi's ability to press him this much while under such severe levels of situational weakness.

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2
Agents of SHIELD: One Door Closes

Scan 1 & 2: Bobbi was sent along with Agent Calderon and a STRIKE Team to secure Quake, a metahuman fugitive with unstable powers. In defence from been shot at, Daisy projected an enormous wave of vibration-based blast that teared trough everything in the way, wrecking the trees all around a large section of the forest and killing Calderon in the process. Bobbi did not only survive the blast, she got back up with no injury after less than 20 seconds.

Obviously, neither Super Soldier here has this level of blunt force output (not that they need to, to put down Bobbi), but it's to be taken note of that Bobbi can take hits from multitonners - something I'll elaborate on more in the final section.

Skill

Mockingbird is one of the most accopmlished fighters in the world, skilled in the use of many weapons, preferably staves, having taken on the finest combatants from multiple world class organisations and even extratterestrial warriors or enhansed individuals.

Agents of SHIELD: A Fractured House
Agents of SHIELD: A Fractured House

On a mission to secure Marcus Scarlotti, an assassin credit with almost having killed Hawkeye, Bobbi, with Hunter's (minor) assistance, took on his small group of mercenaries, 3 highily trained, formidable fighters fully armored and armed with firearms and splinter bombs. These are the same people that walked inside a Government room and terrorised everyone, made short work of the security and are now seen challenging Agent Hunter, a former SAS Soldier whose accomplishments are deemed as some of the finest of the organisation, someone who can treat low level STRIKE Agents like nothing, even individually at points.

  • Scan 2: Bobbi puts down the second mercenary using a charged kick to sent him flying

Agents of SHIELD: One of Us
Agents of SHIELD: One of Us

Investigating one of SHIELD's most secure Facilities, Bobbi and Coulson encountered John Bruno, a Military Assassin who was dangerous enough to be put on the Index, SHIELD's list of enhansed individuals requiring individual Field Agents to supervise them personally.

"Became an obsession discovering creative ways to kill."

Phil Coulson, S2E13, "One of Us"

Being dangerous enough to be put on the same ballpark as several metahumans means you're bound to be quite capable, and Bobbi still incapacitated the guy and had him at her mercy in a submission hold, in litteraly 5 seconds.

Agents of SHIELD: The Frenemy of My Enemy

Bobbi is seen sparring with Agent Mackenzie, someone new to the field, and tutoring him for hand to hand combat (likely to prepare him for the in-coming tests). This is not an actually important feat, but it's a good way for me to elaborate on what I mentioned before about practical fighting ability - use of monmentum, balance, well placed strikes and/or parrying, advanced grappling techniques, clever use of agility and perfect brain-muscle co ordination. It's the application of the fundamentals combined with technical skill and knowledge in martial arts. This way my Agents can fight superhumans while at a strong physical disadvantage, defend against their attempts, redirect their hits and recover from any attempts to overpower them.

  • Scan 1: Bobbi demonstrates good use of momentum, she makes Mack flip through the air and end up lying on the floor simply by tapping his on the torso.
  • Scan 2: Bobbi uses her solid agility to its fullest by quickly recovering from a failed attempt to kick her opponent
  • Scan 3: Bobbi grapples with Mack and turns him over, to take him down for good. She's giving him advice while specifying the actual physical difference between them - he's outside her weight class, "we cannot all bench press a small hatchback", and she still bodies him. This isn't because of her technical knowledge on martial arts (alone), but because she's very good at applying these fundamentals of combat in an actual fight.

This type of skill justifies the showings I provided against beings on the Super Soldier+ tier, and is a major reason why I think Bobbi, or even Clint, could hang with their opponents here in melee head on, really well. Again, I'm not actually comparing this fight to putting up a good fight against a Super Soldier, I'm just using it to make a point because it's handpicked to show how good Bobbi is at practical efficiency in hand to hand. Because physically exchanging blows with someone is not reliant on strength solely.

Of course technical skill and knowledge in martial arts is an undeniably major factor in combat, and Bobbi is no slouch. She's fought alongside exceptional martial artists, including Agent Melinda May, aka. the Cavalry. After she was kidnapped, tortured, crippled and shot through the shoulder by Grant Ward, Bobbi suffered from low-key PTSD as well as physical damage and months of not having been in a real fight.

Agents of SHIELD: Among Us Hide
Agents of SHIELD: Among Us Hide

Above, Agent May tests her to see if she's ready to get back on the field, pretending she's angry at her for what had happened to her loved one (who had supposedly been injured because of Bobbi's own partner). May initally dodges her attempt and performs a takedown, charges at Bobbi with a series of mighty kicks, including a double one in mid air, with Bob blocking and dodging all of them.

Agents of SHIELD: Among Us Hide
Agents of SHIELD: Among Us Hide

May then proceeds to attack her with a staff, and dispite the clear reach and leverage difference, Bobbi quickly outmaneuvers her, disarms her and floors her, aiming at her for a finishing blow. Afterwards is when May lets her know it was a test, to which Bobbi answers with surprise. And while that was a simulation, it was realistic enough that Bobbi couldn't tell the difference, despite having fought side by side with Agent May beforehand.

They've also had a more serious unarmed fight before. They land about the same amount of hits (I think May landed one more), but the mindset difference is important - Agent May believed Bobbi had betrayed SHIELD, and she was not messing around - "The last person who betrayed me, I broke his larynx" - whereas Bobbi mostly wanted to talk this through and explain the situation.

All things considered, I'd say her and Agent May are more or less peers in technical skill, and even though I'd give Melinda the marginal edge in that category, Bobbi's more than comparable. To establish how impressive that is, I'd actually argue for Agent May being the greatest martial artist in the MCU:

  • here Coulson states May possesses more black belts than the Black Widow, definitely the single best martial artist in the film side of the MCU - this accolade IMO, implies Melinda's meant to be at least as good a martial artist as Romanoff or better, and Natasha directly or indirectly scales to a higher level than Bucky, technical skill-wise, having outmaneuvered and outskilled both Hawkeye in The Avengers and Captain America in a deleted - due to time restraints - scene from Captain America: Civil War. I actually think that's a pretty decent chain of evidence on how Bobbi compares to Bucky
  • here May takes on a telepath who is trained in weapons fighting and utilises it in combination with his metahuman powers to turn his fighting style into advanced precognition - despite May's injuries, been crippled by a Kree Warrior wrecking her body to capture her, suffering from a tear of the bilateral quadricep and basically barely being able to walk upon entering Kassius' Arena - she manages to repeatedly counter Ben's attempts, land a clean hit on him and even disarm him from one of his blades before been overwhelmed - she actually overcame hax through raw skill, even at this physical condition (likely affecting her speed, focus etc.)
  • here May rather easily takes out 4 STRIKE Agents with a fresh gunshot wound in the arm - she'd been shot by an assault riffle a few minutes prior - they are fully armored head to toe, armed with firearms and knives, and SHIELD's finest foot soldiers - the soldiers in the Hub were actually the same ones used in the Triskelion during the Fall of SHIELD

I don't see Slade or Bucky nearing this level, so I'm confident they'll be outperformed by Bobbi as far as actual technique goes.

Ranged Combat (Marksmanship, Speed, Agility, Stealth)

Weapons

- Dual Battle Staves: The aforementioned weapon of choice for Bobbi, her Staves, have been further upgraded by Agents Fitz and Simmons to include a magnetic-like function, covering her wrists with magnetic covers so they can return to her after been thrown, quite similar to Captain America's shield
- Smith & Wesson M&P: Bobbi's sidearm of choice is this type of gun, used by most SHIELD Agents. It's considered one of the most practical handguns ever designed, due its strategic weight and trigger placement
- I.C.E.R.: Agents Fitz and Simmons have designed the 'miracle of engineering and biochemistry' known as the I.C.E.R. (Incapacitating Cartridge Emitting Railgun), coming in many forms and sized ie. glocks and assault riffles. Specialists like Morse carry the regular version to conceal for operations. Basically, this gun shoots bullets filled with powerful dendrotoxin, used to incapacitate targets without killing them - the earliest version of the device was the "Night-Night-gun", which was upgraded twice later on to keep up with the elevated threats Coulson's Team had been encountering. First, after they went up against Deathlok and the Centipede Soldiers - for reference, the Centipede formula is a composite consisting of a varyiant of the Super Soldier Serum, Gamma Radiation and even a dose of the Extermis Virus, allowing the Soldiers to tank direct shotgun blasts and high falls with no real trouble - the damage was enough to knock them down for about 5 seconds before they were up on their feet. With that in mind, Agent Fitz tripled the stopping power to something "stronger, better", in order to face the Asgardian Lorelei - this is also the version Agent Mackenzie took in the Kree Temple with no effect. Finaly, Agent Simmons worked on a more concentrated version of the dendrotoxin formula to develop a more powerful version, right before the Team's encounter with the Kree Vin Tak. This finalised version is the one Bobbi is armed with here, and I'd say it's more than enough to put down both Slade and/or Bucky for a decent amount of time - enough to finish them off or restrain them if need be. Worth noting that the I.C.E.R. bullets have bypassed Kevlar more than once too.

Marksmanship / Stealth / Speed & Agility

There's more to a battle than close combat and direct confrontation. Bobbi is an expert markswoman, gymnast and highily trained in espionage, tactical combat, infiltration and stealth, making her an ideal opponent for equally capable master assassins such as Deathstroke and the Winter Soldier.

Agents of SHIELD: One Door Closes
Agents of SHIELD: One Door Closes

Under Fury's direct orders, Bobbi was tasked with saving the Iliad, one of SHIELD's primary Helicarriers, during the Fall of SHIELD. She walked into a hostage situation and took out 7 Agents, popping up left and right, spread all around the room, some moving and others hiding to take her out, in less than 10 seconds. She makes the perfect amount of shots, shows exceptional awareness, even somehow knowing there's an Agent on the upper level of the room and all with timing good enough than no a single person can draw and shoot in time.

Agents of SHIELD: The Inside Man
Agents of SHIELD: The Inside Man

Using the new function of her batons, Bobbi closed in on a Sniper tasked by HYDRA to defend a government room single-handedly. She throws her Staves at him, forces him to duck and in the time it takes for him to get back up, she's already made it up close and personal and easily takes him out.

Worth noting that this Sniper was clearly more dangerous than Agent Hunter, who was also in the room with his gun but could not fight him head on. I've already mentioned Hunter, but to add to his skills, he's a pretty decent gun wielder, keeping pace with Grant Ward and even shooting him upon fleeing.

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3
Agents of SHIELD: One Door Closes

Bobbi has went up against Agent May in an objective mission, and even came out victorious, retrieving Director Fury's toolbox. This isn't something many people could achieve.

Agents of SHIELD: Among Us Hide
Agents of SHIELD: Among Us Hide

Bobbi could notice Kebo, Grant Ward's right hand man, attempting to sneak up on her from a good distance away. Keep in mind that he was nowhere to be seen a moment beforehand, meaning he appeared out of nowhere like anyone highily trained in the arts of ninjutsu and assassination.

Notable Combat Feats

Like her teammate, Bobbi also has quite the versatile skillset, so utilising her abilities well in combat should be a priority, esspecially if she's to take on Super Soldiers. Being a top specialist, she's shown clever use of her ranged and melee abilities several times, fighting large tactical teams, metahumans and aliens on more than occasion.

- Vs The HYDRA Agents(Agents of SHIELD: Maveth)

With Coulson's Team attempting to rescue Fitz and Simmons as well as prevent the portal leading to Maveth, a planet on a different solar system, from been used by Gideon Malick, they infiltrated the HYDRA Castle, one of the organisation's oldest bases of operations. In order to get to the portal, part of the Team consisting of Mockingbird, Mackenzie and Hunter had to go through a horde of 13 HYDRA Soldiers.

Mack said they need to do it as covertly as possible for safety, but Bobbi, pretending she didn't even hear him, rushes in and takes them on in direct confrontation with no hesitation, implication of how easy it was for her to take on 13 trained troops in a titght hallway, moving from room to room. Unfortunetely the feat occured off-screen, and Hunter/Mack probably assisted her (which obviously wouldn't make a difference, given Mack's even questioning if they should just stay there and wait or move on with her), but I think it's still qorth bringing up as a cool sequence, possibly similar to Deathstroke streamrolling a warehouse full of Jackals. Anywho, this is the end result of Bobbi going through the Castle.

- Vs Vin Tak (Agents of SHIELD: Who You Really Are)

Vin Tak is a Kree Warrior who came to Earth in search of dangerous metahumans, specifically Skye/Quake to eliminate her. Seeing a Kree arriving to Earth as an action of hostility, Sif was sent by Heimdall through the Bifrost to secure him and protect the human population.

Loading Video...

The two fought, and Vin Tak tricked his way into victory, pretending to be fatally damage to surprise her and take her down using his Truncheon, a specialised Kree hammer-like weapon that can wipe out people's memories upon conduct and successfuly clash with Sif's double bladed sword, a weapon that went through the Destroyer like butter.

Breaking down the fight, they fought for about 40 seconds - that's only the recorded part though - and Vin Tak looked like her equal. They're exchanging blows evenly until Vin Tak lands the first hit and sends Sif flying 25 ft. away crushing onto a wooden structure. Then they enter a strength contest, and Vin Tak manages to overpower her and push her back, before Sif dodges one of his attempts and kicks him away - notice the difference between him landing a hit and her landing a hit, he comes off as noticably stronger and/or more durable. He dodges her attempts again until she gets him into position to end the fight, but pretending as if he was damaged by her slash, he tricked her in letting her guard down and managed to finish her off.

Fighting Sif on equal terms like this puts Vin Tak well past any Super Soldier, she's widely regarded as 'one of the fiercest warriors in the Nine Realms' trained and experienced in combat for thousands of years, her skills have been complimented by Thor, Lorelei and Agent May and according to the Marvel Studios Visual Dictionary,

"In time, her martial prowess rises above the ranks of Odin's own Einherjar warriors and she is considered second in battle only to Thor."

Marvel Studios Visual Dictionary

referring to the period after the Valkyries had gone extinct and Hela had been imprisoned. Her reputation speaks for itself, esspecially considering people like Loki and Heimdall were around at the time (I will be able to provide a scan of the quote in a few days). Additionally, Sif's Asgardian physiology grants her striking and lifting strength of multiple tons, with I've already coveredin the physical section, superhuman durability and a low level healing factor compared to humans (according to Coulson) - imagine that a generic Asgardian could stop a knife with no injury and bend it effortlessly with 1 arm.

Basically, Sif is not only a more than decent fighter, she's way outside Slade or Bucky's weight class, and Vin Tak arguably outperformed her in their exchange, with Coulson and May repeatedly commenting on his threat level and even assuming he's a dangerous Asgardian based on his performance against Sif, comparing him to Lorelei. Additionally, Vin Tak's level is evident by his skillful and swift use of his weapon of choice, as well as his physiology, being able to take a direct blast from the Destroyer, a weapon that could blast Loki through a wall and hurt him, and still be mildly conscious. The last time a Super Soldier fought someone remotely comparable to Sif (Loki), it did not end well for them.

Later on however, Bobbi is forced to fight Vin Tak head on to protect Skye, and her performance here is the epitome of what I mentioned in the skill section regarding the practical fighting ability of a combatant.

No Caption Provided

Bobbi fought him for the final time on the lab of the SHIELD HQ, he jumped on the table in front of her and attacked, she stopped the attempt by forming her Staves into one for stronger defence. He then blocks her next attempt and grabs her Staves but she successfuly breaks out of it, dodges his next attempt to bash her head in with the Truncheon, and pressing her advantage, she lands a very quick hit that manages to stagger him and force him back.

No Caption Provided

They fight for about a minute, with part of it occuring off-screen, and Vin Tak eventually manages to overwhelm her through sheer strength, force her on the defensive, with Bobbi blocking repeated attempts and parrying his final one before she's cornered against the wall. At that point, she lets him know that she had held her own long enough for Fitz to bring in the Destroyer's blaster, and proceeds to break out of his hold - this is a very notable moment in their fight, Bobbi did not just overcome an insane strength dfference, she outright turned the tables and overpowered and outmaneuvered him through sheer skill. It's also noteworthy that Bobbi never lost, she was fine and could've kept fighting him if required.

I think this is proof enough that the Bird can seriously mess with either Slade or Bucky in close quarters despite the actual physical disparity between them.

- Vs The ATCU's Security Team (Agents of SHIELD: Many Heads, One Tale)

Bobbi was on the front line for SHIELD's Operation Spotlight, a mission to uncover the ATCU's secrets regarding the Inhuman Outbreak, aka. the Crisis, (the infection of a large portion of the earth's population with terrigenesis crystals, turning generic people into metahumans with various different gifts and abilities which SHIELD had to secure and protect before they fell into the wrong hands. Bobbi infiltrated the ATCU alongside Hunter, and after her cover was blown, she had to fight her way out of a room with the building's Security Team, consisting of undercover HYDRA Agents and the Inhuman Giyera, a telekinetic master martial artist.

After Bobbi takes out the first 2 Agents attempting to kill her, she comes face to face with Giyera and 2 more guards. Giyera levels the previous Agents' guards in the air and alongside his assistants they all start shooting at Bobbi and Hunter, forcing them to get to cover.

No Caption Provided

Bobbi throws her batons at Giyera's line of fire to dispose of the guns, which she achieves, and the Staves come right back. Keep in mind that Giyera couldn't do anything about her disarming him, despite being a highily trained fighter with great control over his telekinsesis. Bobbi then disarms the other 2 agents while simultaneously taking them both down. I think this scene shows decent precision and timing on Bobbi's part, considering she has to find opening and jump out of cover in between constant shots from different angles and aim for the arms.

No Caption Provided

Giyera then arms himself with a staff and gets the fight to close range. They fight for a decent while and Bobbi outperforms him in all regards, they block hits from one another, she dodges one, tanks a roundhouse kick right in the face without any trouble and then lands 2 hits, throwing him off with the first one and kicking him several feet away.

I want to take note that she proves she has both physicality and skill on Giyera, demonstrating he's clearly outmatched with no advantages in the long run. This is impressive because Giyera, since his teenage years where he joined the Marines, has been a soldier for Spec Ops, a personal security guard for powerful people as well as a gifted martial artist that has proven himself against the aforementioned Agent May. This is the fight between them, where while May noticably (but not overwhelmingly) outskills him, Giyera keeps up well, at some points directly outskilling her, and overpowers her through his size and physical advantage, dealing a lot of damage on her with each hit he lands, until she abuses an opening to take him down.

This is impressive because May's damage soak has allowed her to take beatings from metahumans stronger than your characters. Here she takes 2 direct punches, a kick as well as a slam from Eva Belyakov, who could wreck a car of a police officer that got on her way:

"We believe Miss Belyakov possesses enhansed strenght. This (the above scan on Coulson's screen) is what happened when a Russian Police Officer tried to stop her with his car. Looks pretty strong to me."

Phil Coulson, Agents of SHIELD S2E17, "Melinda"

She also takes a gunshot on the knee, all that and she's still standing. Also notable that this isn't the first time Bobbi's proven more physically capable than Melinda, being able to fight Grant Ward a lot more efficiently. This further supports the idea that Bobbi could tank a hit or two from Slade or Bucky. Moving on to the next part of the exchange,

No Caption Provided

Giyera achknowledges he cannot beat her hand to hand, and he uses his powers to send a small structure right at her at high speeds, which she casually dodges, showing not just solid reaction speed, but great awareness too, not many could react to such an unpredictable, environmental attempt. She then throws her batons at him, which he stops in mid air and the fight is interrupted when Hunter sneaks up on him and knocks him out from behind.

Summary

Bobbi might initially look like a weak link, but I'd genuinely say she can take a majority over either Super Soldier if she plays her cards right, which I'm going to argue she will. She's proven she can more than keep pace with superpowered people in CQ, she fought Vin Tak on even terms for a decent while, even outhitting him and breaking out of his momentary advantageous holds. Her batons do not only give her a reach advantage over Bucky with his knives/guns and comparable one to Slade's sword, they also give her a lot of versatile options at range and provide her with the necessary damage output to take either one of them down for the count, given how she's knocked out Kree well above the Centipede Soldiers' durability using them. As soon as she realises she can't beat these enhansed any other way, she's going to use them. Other than that, her marksmanship is very formidable and the ICER is enough to incapacitate even Slade.

Advantages / Gameplan / Conclusion

  • Skill: the most obvious advantage I'd argue the agents have here is overall skill. They are both more skilled melee fighters, Clint has already outperformed Bucky's superior and a highily versatile and swift fighter with immensely dangerous gear and Bobbi has fought warriors with millenia worth of experience and training as well as master assassins on multiple occasions, they've both proven comparable to the likes of the Cavalry and the Black Widow, legendary names within an organisation that has produced a number of good fighters. I'd also argue they're both superior marksmen, Clint is a no-brainer, and Bobbi leading the Battle of the Iliad is just as impressive as anything your Soldiers have done.
  • Tech: I think the agents have a clear advantage in regards to gear and weapons. Clint has huge loads of firepower and a highily versatile set of fast paced projectiles, while Bobbi can dual wield a firearm and an impossibly advanced pierce of weaponry in the ICER. Their electricity-based weapons could very well put down the opponents given that they've proven effective against the likes of Kree and the Vision too.

I'd say our teams are evenly matched in a stealth/mobility battle. The Soldiers have enhansed sensory to a degree, which is good, and are highily trained themselves, but it's not something my agents haven't proven they can overcome through their own training in order to deal with such beasts on a constant basis. The obvious difference here is stats, but I genuinely think this advantage is often overrated. A well trained human with a good set of equipment could turn the tables on a superhuman, even someone as competent and dangerous as the characters here.

The gameplan is rather straightforward. Clint will keep his distance and take out whoever he can from far away. In the unfortunate scenario that Bucky or Slade somehow close in, which let's face it: they won't, he can hold his own for a decent while as he's done in the past against metas. Or he can open distance and attempt to blow them up again. I definitely think Bobbi can take a few wins out of 10 at a distance given her weapons and the skill with them, and she can counter incoming firepower using her awareness, agility and batons. She's inevitably going to favor CQC if it happens, and the moment she realises what she's up against (that is, if she's fighting Slade, because she should be well aware of who the Winter Soldier is), she's going to pull out the big guns and take them down via electrocution if need be, which has proven quite effective against superhumans in the past. Additionally, if one agent is on the losing end, the other could come aid after finishing their respective matchup (cause I'd say they're balanced enough that way). All in all, I see my team winning a decent majority.
