"Don't give me too much credit. These days, I'm just a plain candy-shop owner."

Urahara Kisuke a.k.a. the "Sandal-hat"

Bio

Urahara is a Death God (Shinigami) and one of the more powerful and (imo) interesting secondary characters featured in the storyline of Kubo's Bleach. He would be your typical nerd, if it wasn’t for him being annoyingly intelligent. Not to mention that sexy bastard is unforgivably handsome for a nerd. :3 Anyways... 110 years prior to events of main Bleach storyline, Urahara was ranked a Captain, which is the highest Shinigami rank in the military organization of Soul Society called Gotei 13. On top of that he was also the founder and the head of the Soul Society’s Research Institute and a Commander of the Covert Ops Detention Unit. After Aizen’s betrayal Urahara went into hiding in the human world, when he acted as a friend, guide and a teacher for the main protagonist, Ichigo. In the end Urahara was the one responsible for planning and executing the strategy that lead to Aizen’s final defeat. He also played a vital support role in the defeat of Yuha Bach.

Initial thoughts:

Right off the bat, I’d like to introduce the main reason why I think Urahara is going to win this battle. Though Merlin is going to be a formidable opponent for the “Sandal-hat”, I will prove his eventual victory is inevitable. Urahara is by far the more versatile fighter between these two powerful mages, giving that he is trained to perfection in more than just a few spells. While Merlin possesses a great amount of magical power and knowledge, you'll learn that her physicals and combat attributes are neigh non existent when compared to Urahara. Her combat level for pure strength is registered at a mere 70 (Escanor in his weakest form, which is referred to as far weaker then ordinary humans has combat level 15) which is maybe a peak human, bordering low street level overall physique. Urahara on the other hand is a well rounded superhuman, who excels in many forms of CQC combat and his style is all about combining his many talents like high physical attributes, unique skill and magic mastery together into amazing combos and straight overwhelming strategies. This gives him a great advantage, which I will gladly prove in detail below. Bear with me, and let's roll!

Combat speed

To kick off with a BANG, Urahara’s speed is in my humble and completely unbiased opinion, enough reason in itself to really justify Urahara’s victory in itself. To amp their speed, Shinigami use a technique called "Shunpo" and Urahara is a champion when it comes to utilizing it. Urahara’s speed is not just exceptional by his lore's standard, but I have many arguments to prove he is one of the fastest if not THE FASTEST character in the entire series, with his possible equal being Yoruichi, his childhood friend and a character known for overwhelming speed as well.

No Caption Provided

Urahara and Yoruichi using their speed to casually blitz enraged Yammy

Before I give you Urahara’s top feats in utilizing reaction and combat speed in a fight, First, let’s give you an idea on how fast are high tier characters in the Bleach series. Below we see Ichigo buffed with nothing but only his original bankai, cutting down from the air one billion blades of Byakuya’s Senbonzakura Kageyoshi that were about to attack him from all sides. We get confirmation from Byakuya that Ichigo cut down exactly ALL of the petals so there is no mistaking it.

No Caption Provided

Ichigo did it in roughly 2 on-screen seconds (which can easily translate to even less in the anime combat time, but let’s again just lowball to avoid discussion and assume it’s real 2 seconds) meaning he is capable of moving his hands performing precise cuts in the air literally hundreds of millions times a second. Let’s assume he was able to pick several petals at the time and lowball him to only make him attack 200 million times per second. How fast is that exactly? Well a real life example should give you a hint:

No Caption Provided

This is METAL STORM the fastest machine gun on our planet. It can fire about 16,500 bullets every second. This means that being attacked by Ichigo at full speed is like being shot at by 12,121 metal storms at the same time. As you can imagine, it’s absolutely absurdly fast, and nothing a person without a very well established high tier super speed is gonna be able to dodge, EVER.

Coming next, comes the giant difference in speed that was introduced between bankai Ichigo and Aizen. These are two attempts in which Aizen demonstrates the ability to make bankai Ichigo a complete statue:

Let’s keep this very much to the ground and only establish that Aizen is twice as fast as bankai Ichigo, which I think is a very toned down conclusion. By that reason, Aizen would be capable of attacking you 400 million times a second then, an equal of 24k+ metal storm assaults if you will. Why am I showing you this? Well because Urahara’s top feat comes from his battle against Aizen, when has been very solidly established as being superior to Aizen in speed by a LOT.

No Caption Provided

Here’s the feat: Aizen bullrushes Urahara during their conversation. Notice that Aizen is very serious here, as he believes that Urahara is a real threat and he is being provoked by Urahara who claims ownership over Aizen’s hogyoku. Completely ticked off by that, this Aizen is serious and he goes for an instant kill blow. He hates Urahara, he has his eyes fixed on him as they talk and he wants him dead. He rushes at him, only to discover that Urahara is no longer there, but left a doll of himself as a decoy. This means, that while Aizen was still LOOKING AT HIM, Urahara has:

- Stepped back from his original position

- Took a portable gigai (fake body bloon basically) out of his pocket

- Blew up portable gigai to human size

- Replaced the gigai bloon with himself

- Left the scene completely and moved behind Aizen to take his blind spot

All of this Urahara has done in a moment so brief, that Aizen was not able to register anything happening. Aizen’s shock, witnessing Urahara he stabbed being fake, is 100% authentic. Even if this was performed on an ordinary human, it would get my point about Urahara being able to blitz Merlin across. However, since it was performed at a person as ridiculously fast as Aizen, I believe this is a borderline stomp material right here. If we lowball yet again and only say Urahara is twice as fast as Aizen right there, we’re ending up with a ridiculously lowballed ability to attack an opponent about 800 million (almost a billion) times per second, which is what Urahara should be able to accomplish. In short, Urahara's speed is so great, he is capable of attacking you as fast as almost 50k metal storms aiming and firing at you at the same time. S-C-A-R-Y. Please notice, that I am using a calc for attacks per second and not bringing it down to MACH XXX on purpose. Why? Because it’s not TRAVEL SPEED we’re talking about, Urahara is not going from point A to point B here, neither is Ichigo or Aizen. It’s combat speed, they freely move and perform precise actions at these speeds. Ability to react, attack, move around battlefield dodging and countering abilities is something far more important than just ability to fly through cosmos in a straight line superman style.

Like I said. Urahara is not just fast. He is established as one of the fastest characters in the series and even if you;ll try to dismiss my calc completely, the difference between him and Merlin is very clear and will result in a one sided blitz situation. And even if Merlin has some feats that would put her reaction speed at MHS, she still can't freely MOVE at these speeds, while Urahara can. And just so you don’t say that the starting point of Ichigo cutting down a billion petals is an outlier, here’s some more concrete feats of Urahara going all matrix slow mo on his opponents asses:

No Caption Provided

Here’s Urahara dodging his lieutenant’s kick and then moving back to his original position and getting hit on purpose to not make her look silly. Note to self – Hiyori is a lieutenant, which is the second strongest Shinigami class in Bleach. She is by no means slow or weak by herself. Lieutenants can do this:

No Caption Provided

Here’s Urahara reacting to an attack of Wonderweiss, who attempting blitz and coming from a blind spot. Wonderweiss is crazy fast. The same type of attack caught Ukitake, a powerful Captain known for top tier speed, completely off guard and one shot him.

Here’s Urahara shown to be able to compete with Yoruichi (officially the fastest character in the series) in the combat speed contest in her canon prime, all the way when he wasn’t even a Captain but a 3’rd seat, which is far from his own prime.

No Caption Provided

Here’s mentioned Yoruichi (that I've been using as a reference point a lot in this paragraph) performing a feat very similar to Ichigo's, just so that you know that cutting down millions of petals was not an outlier– Yoruichi moves around the large part of the forest crowded with Covert Ops agents and KO's every single one of them in a moment so brief it’s assumed to be an INSTANT, like a fraction of a second.

No Caption Provided

But, enough is enough, I think I proved how fast Bleach characters are and that Urahara is among the best in the series. His ability to completely overwhelm Merlin's own reactions should leave no questions. Let's move on.

Assassination skill

This one is not gonna be that long, no worries! ;)

No Caption Provided

Urahara as ninja commander of the Covert Ops Detention unit.

I just think it’s worth nothing Urahara can do something useful with all of that speed of his. Like I mentioned, Urahara was a commander of Covert Ops Detention Unit, and is highly trained as a ninja assassin because of that. He utilizes dirty tricks, strikes from behind and without warning, he is not restraining himself to go for a sure kill. Here’s just a short example of what he can do combining his assassination skill with his speed.

No Caption Provided

He blitzes Yammy (one of the strongest arrancars and a member of elite group called Espada) puts a sword to his head from behind, and later fires a laser beam right in his face without any hesitation. My points is - Urahara is not going to hold back against Merlin or use frontal, easy to predict or dodge attacks. This is something I feel Merlin should be very much afraid of.

Sword fighting skill

Another one of Urahara's notable abilities is his combat skill with a sword.

No Caption Provided

Urahara during his training days with Ichigo

As a Shinigami Captain, who’s passed harsh combat academy and was trained to mainly fight with a sword called zanpaktou, Urahara is exceptionally skilled swordsman, who is known not just as a powerful and skilled combatant but also from training Ichigo himself from an average kid to a deadly sword fighter in a matter of brief days. Here’s an example of Urahara’s amazing swordsmanship skill. Urahara fights and keeps his ground in a straight sword fight against transformed Aizen. A character so gifted in swordsmanship that even prior to his transformation he was able to cut down more than 10 Captain level characters ganking up on him with EASE with a series of one-shots.

If Urahara ever gets to CQC to unarmed Merlin, it's gonna get real ugly, real soon!

H2H fighting skill

If Urahara somehow loses his sword -which I guess is something Merlin could attempt to pull off, giving that she has full knowledge about the sword and it’s powers – Urahara doesn’t really lose his ability to effectively fight and deal damage. Urahara is surprisingly skilled in H2H as well, which is clearly shown in the Maggots Nest incident.

No Caption Provided

Apparently, Urahara was forced to learn H2H while being in charge of the prisoners there, in the weapon-restricted zone. Worth mentioning, that Urahara is deadly to Merlin even if he is somehow stripped from all weapons and magic!

Strength and striking

To follow up on Urahara’s ability to deal damage even without a sword, I think it’s worth noting, that Urahara like most Shinigami is a casual multi-tonner when it comes to strength and every one of his attacks is a death blow to someone with a durability level of Merlin, Armed, or unarmed. Below an example of Urahara’s mighty strength. He is easily blocking a giant, powerful Shinigami attempting to crush him with all of his strength.

No Caption Provided

Even average Shinigami have strength to lift and throw around dozens of tons. A large Shinigami like this one is probably over 100+ tonner, and Urahara casually stops his momentum and restrains him. Though strength may not be Urahara's top quality, it's certainly enough in this case.

Durability

Urahara’s durability follows his impressive physique. I think it’s good to stop for a bit longer here and just witness how much Urahara can no sell and/or tank, if Merlin will ever be able to tag him.

No Caption Provided

Urahara is in the middle of Aizen's powerful explosion that one shots Yoruichi and Ishin. Though he seems to be KO’d after that, we later see that he is completely fine and without scratch when he reappears to witness Aizen being defeated.

No Caption Provided

Urahara is sliced by Aizen right through his chest and we see him bleed, but he instantly gets up after this and doesn’t even slow down. Later we learn that he allowed himself to be cut on purpose.

No Caption Provided

Urahara shows incredible pain resistance, and straight hax tolerance by surviving Askin's toxicity hax of his “Gift Ball Delux” power far longer than it should’ve been possible, before finally collapsing only after Askin was defeated.

Overall, this would classify Urahara as at least mountain level in conventional, hax based and magical energy based durability standards. Not too overpowered maybe, but I think it’s safe to say that even if Urahara is tagged directly by one of the Merlin’s strongest spells, he is not getting one shot by any means.

Strategy&prep genius

Now that we established Urahara as too fast for Merlin to tag or avoid, too strong and skilled to survive a single hit from, and too durable to effectively one shot before he one shots her, let’s look inside Urahara’s head for a change, and see his most powerful weapon yet – his intellect.

Urahara is considered both by Aizen and by Yucha Bach to be one of the most dangerous characters in the series. Yucha Bach lists Urahara as one of five people who could potentially turn over the tables of the entire War based on Urahara’s ability to create unbeatable strategies and improvise, and Aizen sees Urahara as his personal rival and even superior when it comes to intellect and genius.

Urahara’s strategies consists of layers and layers of backup plans and alternative strategies. He actually says it himself that he can’t help but be always prepared for any situation that might possibly happen and he thinks ahead not by 2, not by 5, not by 10, but by one THOUSAND steps ahead when fighting, ALWAYS.

No Caption Provided

I mean… DAMN! Imagine this guy in a chess tournament. He’d rip both our best computers and players to SHREDS with that kinda active memory capacity. Needless to say, because of this ability Urahara is pretty much unbeatable when it comes to prep utilization. My point here is, that Urahara will be always ahead of Merlin and that he will use 1 hour of prep given in the OP more effectively than her. He will think of much more options and will remain many steps ahead of her at all time.

How about an example of Urahara’s genius strategic thinking during his final battle against Aizen. In that fight Urahara beats Aizen by effectively quadruple bluffing him without Aizen ever realizing even a single layer of Urahara's strategy, let alone it's final conclusion.

Point A) First Urahara provokes Aizen into attacking, and seemingly he leaves himself open for Aizen to attack.

Point B) Then it turns out his provocation was just a bluff. He actually wanted Aizen to attack him so he could fool him with a gigai and set up his chain of kido spells on him.

Point C) Then it turns out the kido spell chain was a double bluff, Urahara actually wanted Aizen to THINK he wanted to use kido spells, while in reality he was setting up his far more powerful reiatsu sealing bracelets technique against him in the process.

Point D) Then it turns out Urahara’s bracelet’s were a triple bluff. Urahara knew they wouldn’t work an he prepared an ambush at Aizen as he emerged from the explosion, ganking up on him with Yoruichi and Ishin.

Point E) Then it turns out Urahara’s 3 vs 1 fight was also a quadruple bluff. In reality Urahara wanted them to fail so that Ichigo could see it and take the full responsibility for battle on himself, match Aizen in power with his determination and run him down so much that Urahara’s kido that he actually set up in secret all he way back in Point B could trigger and finish Aizen off, sealing him away. And that's what finally happened btw.

No Caption Provided

Well if Merlin is capable of reading through that kind of thick layer of bluffs than I maybe she’d have a chance at out-witting Urahara. But I don’t really think she has the feats to suggest she is up to the task.

Science genius and inventor

On top of being a genius when it comes to tactics and prep, Urahara is also your Tony Stark of Bleach.

No Caption Provided

As mentioned, he is the founder of Soul Society’s Research Department, and the most well known inventor in Bleach series, with his only possible rival being Mayuri, his former second in command. Urahara’s inventions vary from technical comfort providers, weird medicine and magical one of a kind items all the way to actual artifacts of unimaginable power such us the hogyoku itself, an item that can effectively fulfill the inner desires of whoever it chooses as it’s master. Without a doubt there is no real match for Urahara when it comes to sheer scale, versatility and power of his inventions. Why are we talking about science? Well because Urahara can bring several useful gadgets for this matchup, and I think we can safely establish he’d be even capable of making and bringing new, specially designed anti-Merlin gadgets in an hour he is given. For the sake of fair debate, I’m only going to focus on his most well known gadgets that are pretty much standard gear for him.

On-hand gadgets

- Portable gigai – This is rather standard gear for Urahara. With these bloons, Urahara can fool someone into attacking a decoy of himself. He’s trained himself in the use of gigai bloons to such degree he can even perform this effectively on Aizen. Even if Merlin knows Urahara has these, it won’t change the fact that the bloons are indistinguishable from the original Urahara, and that he can switch places with a fake instantly. In other words, Merlin is still gonna be fooled by these. And in case anyone thinks she’ll be able to feel if the gigai is real thing or not by reading his energy, the next gadget will counter that effectively.

No Caption Provided

- Reiatsu concealing cloak – With this item, Urahara can remain completely undetected from all forms of energy/magic/power level reading. He combines the use of this item with his technical ninja skills to achieve an absolute perfect stealth.

No Caption Provided

I don't think Urahara will need any of his more powerful items, so I'll call it a day for now.

Kido Mastery

That’s right. After a long and I imagine pretty overwhelming display of Urahara’s sheer combat power, physical damage potency and genius intellect, let’s finally dive in into probably most contested subject of this debate, magic. Though I think an argument could be made that even without any use of magic Urahara could quite easily win this, I can also make an argument that even if we reduce Urahara to NOTHING but magic alone – he is still going to win anyway. Why? Because his magic is more powerful, more versatile and comes in powerful combos!

No Caption Provided

Urahara is without a doubt not just Tony Stark, but Doctor Strange of Bleach as well. He’s been shown time and again to possess such deep knowledge and understanding of application of spirit energy through magic, that no other character can even come close to his level of mastery. For starters, Urahara displays ability to use the most powerful variation of classic Shinigami magic, called "kido", which are 90’s level kido spells that are cast swiftly and without incantation. This is impressive, because there are only 5 characters in the entire series that have been able to achieve this. Furthermore, Urahara can create his own unique spells, with powers even surpassing classic spells. Finally, Urahara can channel spells without incantations or even mentioning their number, and he can literally SPAM them, casting one spell after another without any break, creating deadly combinations. Let's roll with Urahara's crazy magic arsenal!

Offensive spells

Hado 32 – Okasen – Urahara’s most basic combat spell, he loves to spam as distraction and potential source of minor damage. Okasen is again wall of yellow flames that spring from his hands and crush at his opponent at great speeds. Giving Merlin’s poor durability, I believe even this may be even used for a quick one shot from behind.

Hado 91 – Senju Koten Taiho – Summons several spears of light and shoots them at the target. This spell requires some time for Urahara to cast, hence why he first uses a binding spell or two on his target before he conjures it. When the spears all pierce the target they create an enormous explosion. This spell is dangerous enough to be treated as capable of killing a Captain level Shinigami. Note that many of these characters have mountain and above levels of durability as well. If Urahara is able to chant this after holding Merlin down with some of his binding utility spells, she is toast, perhaps even if she manages to cast a defensive spell.

Modified Hado – Jugeki Byakurai – Urahara created this spell in the sore purpose of fighting Aizen. This modified version of “white lightning” spell appears to be a red laser that Urahara is able to shoot at his target without any chants or incantations. The beam is small but has frightening level of piercing capacity, as it was able to pierce through semi-transformed Aizen’s hierro and his body all the way through in one shot. Another way Urahara can quickly execute Merlin from great distance sniper style, before she can cast ANY spell.

Defensive/utility spells

Modified bakudo spell – Tsuppane – Urahara has unique ability to cancel out all abilities or spells of his opponent by releasing his own energy and drawing a circle in the air with it, canceling out all magical effects his opponent wanted to accomplish. Downside of this spell is that Urahara needs to know the technique beforehand or at least see it once. But with full knowledge being our condition, I belive it’s safe to say Urahara can cancel out almost any ability or spell Merlin possess, including infinity, as this spell doesn’t really have any known limitations to it as long as you know the spell that’s being cast, pretty much like Merlin’s Absolute Cancel. The difference being Absolute Cancel can only be used on touch, which is a big downside if you ask me, arguably already making Urahara the better “magic repeller” of the two.

Bakudo 61 – Rikujokoro – Summons six beams of light that instantly strike an opponent from all sides. The light beams completely petrify the target, making it unable to move a muscle or cast any spells. A great way to pin Merlin down so she won’t be ready to use her hands or chant, her summons or her orb and any of her gadgets will also be useless when this hits her.

Bakudo 63 – Sajo Sabaku – Summons chains made of yellow light that hurl at the target, binding it tightly and severely restraining it’s movements. Another way to restrain Merlin on top of the previous spell.

Bakudo 75 – Gochu Tekkan – Summons five gigantic iron pillars connected with a chain that fall on the opponent, spreading him flat on the ground and pinning him down. Another way to restrain Merlin, though in all honesty this spell would likely kill, not restrain her.

Bakudo 79 – Kuyo Shibari – Summons eight miniature black holes of black spirit energy that spread around the target, with one of the balls appearing in the center. The energy balls keep the target helpless in one place with a variation of gravity manipulation. Again, another way Urahara can restrain Merlin, but we’re getting more and more impressive here!

Bakudo 81 – Danku – A transparent shield appears in front of Urahara, shielding him from almost any magic spells. This spell is particularly powerful because only a selected few Shinigami spells can bypass it. It can be used to block any magic spells outside of Shinigami spellbook though, not just elemental destructive magic, but even spells that are invisible or are attacking the mind or soul of the individual. We see this confirmed when the shield is used to counter an Espada level Arrancar ability, which is very high level magic that’s completely different kind than Shinigami’s, and yet the shield counters it perfectly, despite the ability being invisible on top of that. Another reason why I believe Urahara will win the contest of “who can cancel the spells better” contest. If any of Merlin’s abilities escape his initial cancel, he can still defend with Danku even at the last second.

Bakudo 99 – Kin – Summons wraps of black cloth that restrain the target and pin him to the ground with metal slabs. This is the most powerful traditional Shinigami spell used for binding and defense. Throughout the series it’s been shown that releasing from these bounds is almost impossible regardless of “power level”. The spell is also homing and the bands appear around you and wrap you instantly. A very dangerous spell to Merlin, given her inferior reflexes in this fight. Another potential way to successfully restrain her at the spot, this time probably for good.

Garganta / Keikaigi – Urahara like most Shinigami has the ability to cross dimensions between human world and Soul Society. Though almost no other Shinigami has been able to achieve this, Urahara can do even better than that. He can also open the Garganta, a void that allows him to cross dimensions between any of the above worlds and the spooky world of Hollows, Hueco Mundo. This ability is practically a much more potent version of the teleport. Although naturally Urahara is capable of flight and his speed will allow him to basically teleport around Merlin effortlessly, Urahara’s dimension crossing allow him to return to battlefield from any BFR and escape any seal that does not bound you across dimensions, which means he will be able to escape even the Perfect Cube.

Sealing techniques

Fusatsu Kakei – Probably the most powerful technique in Urahara’s magical arsenal. Urahara touches the wrists of his opponents. If he is able to achieve that, the spell seals away magic energy of the opponent and soon his own power makes him explode from within. Simple and deadly. The only reason why Aizen was able to survive it was because of the immortality he has gained up to that point. Aizen himself admitted that this technique would’ve resulted in his death if it wasn’t for his immortality. Simply put – if Urahara can set these up on anybody it's game over.

Kyujurokkei Kakafumetsu – The seal Urahara used to conceal Aizen in his most powerful form. This spell can be hidden in another spell and shot at the opponent without warning. It will later activate whenever the enemy is weakened, sealing him off completely and leaving him hopeless in a cross shaped statue.

Shikai powers

Urahara’s magic is not limited just to his spells and knowledge of spirit energy. His sword is one of the most powerful zanpaktou’s in the series and has many magical abilities that can further help Urahara to make short work of Merlin in a magic duel. First, let’s take a look at his shikai (base release form of his sword) and it’s abilities.

No Caption Provided

Urahara's Zanpaktou - Benihime

- Nake, Benihime – Urahara’s sword fires a powerful blast of red energy. This energy is capable of matching and Espada level Cero and hurt the same level Arrancars through their defensive armor called Hierro. Urahara can fire these in rapid succession, which will surely be a problem for Merlin, who can't really cast spells without any words at that speed.

- Chikasumi no Tate – Urahara creates a barrier in front of himself for defensive and offensive purposes. The shield can even block an uncontrolled attack from Ichigo, though it will break in the process. The shield can also fire small energy projectiles like a machine gun. Another way for Urahara to protect himself from potential magic/energy attacks from Merlin, if she’ll be somehow able to get past his spell cancels and spell shields.

- Shibari Benihime – Summons a net made of black energy that traps and wraps around the target. It's an ingredient spell for the next ability, Juzutsunagi.

- Hiasobi Benihime, Juzutsunagi – After using the Shibari technique, Urahara can stab the black net with his sword and use the Juzutsunagi, which makes the net bloom with small red orbs that explode with incredible force. Though this ability in itself is still part of Urahara’s shikai, in my opinion it is more powerful than most known bankais to be sure. The explosion created by this technique is so large it literally dwarfs over a huge city the battle takes place in. In the regai arc we also see the explosion is capable of killing two Shinigami Captain level beings with ease, to the point of annihilating them completely and not leaving a trace. If Urahara fires this explosion up anywhere near Merlin, she is one dead girl.

Bankai powers

Finishing his magical arsenal, let's move on to probably most overpowered thing about this character. Let’s talk about Urahara’s bankai.

No Caption Provided

Bankai is the most powerful weapon of every Shinigami, and though Urahra is very talented in a variety of arts and fighting abilities, he is no exception. His bankai is called: Kannobiraki Benihime Aratame, and it has one, singular ability that is scary powerful, to the point that it makes infinity look pretty average. The ability is called:

Restructure – Urahara summons a giant mannequin-like being resembling a lady with long dark hair, simultaneously activating his power. It allows him to freely restructure anything he chooses on the battlefield. He can cut anything to pieces without touching or reaching for it, bypassing all conceptual durability and them stitch the pieces he’s cut back together in any manner he chooses. Urahara essentially becomes a graphic designer and the battlefield becomes his photoshop, only the only tools he has in his program are being a cutting knife tool and stitch together tool. This is, effectively, a variety of reality warping/ reality alteration, which is pretty insane. To give you an example of what can Urahara accomplish with this:

- Obviously he can cut just his opponent clean open, bypassing any durability or defensive spells and armor.

No Caption Provided

- He can stitch himself back together if he’s been hurt. This even allows him to heal from critical injuries, for example, he had his eyes literally blown to pieces by Askin, but he stitched them back together with his bankai from scraps and regained functioning eyes in a matter of moments.

- He can cut and restructure the environment and characters around him, including himself. He was able to increase his physical strength that way, by cutting apart his arm and fingers, and then stitching them back together, far stronger than before.

Why Urahara wins?

Woof! That took a lot of time. :) Totally worth it though! In the end, I think I did a good job an explaining many reasons why Urahara should win this fight. Here’s a TLDR version to sum it all up:

1. Urahara is much faster than Merlin who has a rather average physicals compared to Urahara’s absolutely ridiculous combat speed feats and scalings. This alone means Urahara can tag her first with any of his spells, abilities or physical attacks and easily dodge almost anything she can pull off, especially giving his full knowledge on her abilities and prep.

2. Urahara is much physically stronger as well as more skilled of a physical combatant between the two in many respected categories, being a master assassin, sword master, h2h combatant and so on. This means that if Urahara manages to close the distance on Merlin with his sword or even his bare hands – which he should be able to do giving his speed advantage and combat experience – he will be able to one shot Merlin effortlessly.

3. Throwing defensive spells and shields aside for a moment, Urahara has by far superior durability between the two, being able to no sell or at least tank massive attacks from beings far more powerful than either Urahara or Merlin without any serious injury. This implies that if the two were going back and forth, scoring and missing some spells on each other, Urahara will likely outsustain Merlin, simply because he can afford to get caught in a powerful explosion of one of her spells, while Merlin cannot do the same.

4. Urahara is by far smarter character, not simply because he read more books or smh, but because of his many signs of versatile genius intellect, such as being a genius combatant, ninja, scientist, sorcerer and much more, and more importantly, his strategy genius, which allows him to prepare dense layers of bluffs and backup plans against his opponents, while actively staying 1000 steps ahead of them during every fight. Even if he cannot blitz, overpower or outsustain Merlin, he can certainly outsmart her, as he has by far greater feats doing just that to opponents far smarter than Merlin, f.e. another legit genius such as Aizen.

5. Urahara’s technology, magic spells and sword powers make for a total of far more versatile and powerful magical kit than that of Merlin’s spells and infinity, not to mention give him a lot opportunities to counter her key abilities. He can cross dimensions which denies Merlin her favorite BFR or Perfect Cube seal tactic, he can cancel out or block hostile spells without the need of touching them, even when they are invisible which makes Merlin neigh hopeless against him, he has offensive spells that do far more damage than Merlin and can effectively result in a one shot, and finally, he has by far superior hax in the form of his bankai, that is pretty much a limited reality warping power kit.

Thanks so much for reading! Respect the hat guy!

@comicgirl21: Nice post but you should use Manga scans since Anime tends to exaggerate things due to flashy animation and well, Manga being THE canon.

@b_r023: ofc :) op allows me to use anime so I do it simply to make the thread more dynamic. I get ur point tho. Still main points I made remain unchanged wether we use anime or manga. Thanks for reading! I'll gladly discuss any issues after we close the votes.

Merlin: Daughter of Belialuin

No Caption Provided

Brief Bio

Merlin is Co-Founder of the Seven Deadly Sins, an order of legendary criminals brought together to defeat the Demon King's elite army: The Ten Commandments. Merlin alongside Meliodas created this group thanks to a prophecy made by the king of Liones that said "Sin will defeat commandment". Merlin is easily one of the most dangerous combatants in the series, always finding new ways to apply her magic to make breakthroughs, whether its during her downtime or in the middle of combat. She even went as far as to use the ability she was born with "Infinity" to stop her own time, making her ageless.(She has lived for over hundreds or thousands of years) She is called the Boar's Sin of Gluttony. Merlin based off not only power levels and feats is one of the most capable Sins of all.

I'll try to follow your format, to a degree.

Initial Thoughts

The reason I think Merlin wins is simple, if energy is equalized for the sake of debate, Absolute Cancel one of her more prominent abilities, would easily checkmate a lot of Kisuke's techniques. It doesn't help that Merlin has other abilities that can address almost every ability the mad scientist might have. And the biggest issue here is that both combatants only get an hour to prep. Kisuke Urahara relies on a lot of technology and conventional items to prep things out. And most of his plans seem to take a lot longer than an hour to prepare. Merlin can make use of an hour so much more easier than Kisuke can. Especially when casting magic would be effortless with Infinity.

Edit: Lets look at it this way. Kisuke is without a doubt is smarter and more adaptive than Merlin. But its because he has to prepare so many steps ahead, and take actual precision in planning his stuff out, is why I don't think an hour is enough for him to do anything where is Merlin simply needs to cast a spell, or gather items she already has to approach the situation in a simplistic manner. Although Magic=Reiatsu in this match, as agreed, the quick and easy process of magic really helps.

I wonder what possible countermeasures can Urahara create in the span of an hour, and how many plans he can prepare? Merlin simply needs to figure out his weakness based off data and information, and act off of that.

Why Combat Speed Doesn't Matter here, And Counters

Despite her first anti-feat against Galan, Merlin has several feats of reacting against opponents that are generally way faster than her combat speed wise. But before I get to that, I really feel I should address your feats first.

The problem with this is the fastest and most dangerous technique in the verse is Mach 500. A stronger and faster Ichigo was struggling with this technique.Based off this calc, correct me If I am wrong since you did the research, but this seems to exceed that stated value, making it inconsistent If I were to accept it. , mind you, I am aware that Gin said he lied about the speed and length, and that in itself is even more incriminating if you consider that he lied about such an insane level of speed.(Which would suggest that such a level of speed wasn't even possible by high tiers of the verse.) And if this feat is in the range of the stated value, then it isn't that hard to surpass anyway and i'll show feats to suggest why.

Secondly, there is literally no way to know how many petals he took down per slash, several being the one you used to lowball the calc, is vague as well. He could have taken down hundreds, thousands, or maybe millions with each slash. And who's to say it was precise cuts? In his fight against Kenpachi, their shockwaves were collapsing city blocks. And that was base Ichigo before he got trained by Yoruichi, and got a massive buff in both his base form and his bankai form.

This feat is not quantifiable nor reliable to use. I'm sure you have better.

And just so you don’t say that the starting point of Ichigo cutting down a billion petals is an outlier, here’s some more concrete feats of Urahara going all matrix slow mo on his opponents asses:

Here’s Urahara dodging his lieutenant’s kick and then moving back to his original position and getting hit on purpose to not make her look silly. Note to self – Hiyori is a lieutenant, which is the second strongest Shinigami class in Bleach

That's not enough nor anywhere near impressive. For example, Meliodas was able to do something better.

Meliodas manages to effortlessly cross a room, blitz Griamore, another Holy Knight, dodging everything he has to offer, smacking him around and KOing him(specifically going for precise and quiet blows to KO him quickly and as quietly as possible, stopping him from drawing his sword to manage damage control and to prevent him from making too much noise, neck chopping him twice in turn knocking him out) all without making a sound, before a cup could fall to the ground and Elizabeth could raise her head to see what was going on(Meliodas was trying to be stealthy in order to sneak out Elizabeth.) BTW in regards to Griamore, (he stated that his wall ability can tank meteors, he must have tested this himself obviously, that means that he had to have reacted to a meteor to know that his own shields can protect him from such impacts so that says a crap ton about Meliodas considering how hard he speed blitzed him)

This is just straight up better. And there's more feats just like this.

Lieutenants can do this:

No Caption Provided

Basic stuff. Again I have something better.

Ban blitzes hundreds of vampires casually.

Merlin has no issue reacting to Ban. She has reacted to Ban's attacks to put up her own shields to protect her experiments.

And the crazy thing is.... I have something better.

Courtesy of @lowlaville but straight from the respect thread:

I already borrowed this so many times i don't even mention it anymore at this point but considering how i am doing it for something important like a respect thread i might as well mention that this particular post was made by @lowlaville I could get it myself but he made such intricate details in regards to specific panels i just couldn't resist referencing it for debates. Well its hard to gauge the exact speed of the feat as a whole but one thing we know for sure, the sins are a thousand times faster than Dawn Roar when we look at the scenario all together.

No Caption Provided

The distance from where the kids initially were at the bottom of the hill (cliff?) and where the armored giant stood is a considerable distance away. The three sins, Ban included, crosses this distance in less than half of a second.

Notice the position of Dawn Roar

No Caption Provided

Time when the 3 Meliodas, King and Ban took flight.

No Caption Provided

This means it took the sins a mere 0.5 seconds to go from atop the hill to where Dawn Roar was about to assault the Metal Giant, reaching before they could launch their attack.

0.3 seconds after they took off.

No Caption Provided

From this distance, King seemingly teleports Pelio to safety, to the top of the hill, without his knowledge of what had happened, in a time slightly more than what must've been half a second.

No Caption Provided
No Caption Provided

Meanwhile, Meliodas does a less than 0.2 second blitz on 4 members of the Dawn Roar.

No Caption Provided

So King removed the kid from the area dashed into a forest dropped off the Kid, and came back, while Meliodas quickly blitzes the Dawn Roar all in the time it takes for Dale's punch to land onto Gowther. Take note that Meliodas blitzed them while they were already in movement.

This all took place in less than a second. I'd argue this is more impressive.

Reaction speed feat that most people wouldn't notice. The Albion shot a huge blast at Arthur that was going to reach him at any second. At the last second Merlin teleported Meliodas instantly to Arthur's location so he can throw out a full counter.

Utilized Telekinesis to lift Mama Pig, and avoided attacks from Albion precisely. So ragdolling is an option.

For example, Diane was rushing through in a frenzy to ask Merlin for a favor, she smashed through Merlin's door and the shrapnel was sent flying at Hawk and herself, she stopped it with TK

No Caption Provided

Like i showed before, she coordinated well with Gowther by amplifying Gowther's attack as he appears behind Escanor and preps his blackout arrow for attack. And Gowther has FTE feats.

Coordinated with Diane against Galan.

Like i said before she's no slowpoke, she has reacted to large shockwaves from Galan which were aftereffects from his attack against Meliodas

She has even managed to pull up a Perfect Cube before Fraudrin could kill Hendricksen and others nearby.

To give a general idea, the sins, at the beginning of the series are all in the range of Mach 280ish, which is due to Meliodas reacting to lightning attacks from Gilthunder. Redirecting it in his direction as a counterattack.

Later even while going all out he could not harm Galand The Truth. His blows even with demon amplifying transformations, could not harm Galan whatsoever. And he couldn't react to even his slowest attacks.

After getting his power back, beats Galan in about 5 seconds. Overpowering him, easily dodging his blows and even pins him at one point of the battle. Barehanded, although Galan was surviving, as soon as Mel took out his sword and cut him Galan lost all his strength.

Meliodas states that he was holding back. Despite the fight being a one sided slaughter.

And since I now know you are okay with calcs, I'll use one I know of relating to Galan that should reasonably stomp anything you have to offer.

The most basic way of calculating this feat, without going overboard, is to understand how far Merlin can teleport people. And its simple. Hundreds of miles. Ban and the other sins were posted at Edinburgh, which is almost 200 miles away from their base of operations, the Kingdom of Liones. Merlin instantly teleported him back.

No Caption Provided

There are so many ways to justify this, so many scans that support this, and a world map as well that helps get this point across. As you already saw, Galan outpaced her teleportation range of at least 200 miles in a few seconds. That's hundreds of times faster than the speed of sound; with the most reasonable lowballs making this two times faster than Meliodas' simple lightning timing feat. Which makes sense considering Galan blized Meliodas. Anyway I digress. This feat is subject to massive controversy, and is argued as an outlier due to certain circumstances surrounding the feat. But even then, its a lot more reliable than the 1 billion petal feat.

Merlin has reacted to commandments astronomically faster than Galan such as the most recent Cusack and Chandler, and I'll get to their feats later if deemed necessary.

And you say reaction speed isn't enough to dodge? Well she doesn't need fantastic mobility and agility when she has high speed teleportation.

Her first, and one of her most impressive showings of teleportation is when she outfoxed her pupil Vivian. After Vivian teleported Mel and the crew to a distant location, Merlin not only teleported them and Vivian back to their exact spot she began the process of constantly teleporting her in dozens of different locations at insane speeds before she could even take a breath or attempt to find a counter measure(or at least try to escape) doing this ended up inducing vertigo.

I can post other examples, of her using it in general, but her most impressive usage is in the most recent fight against the commandments. She constantly spammed her teleportation in order to avoid being pulled in by Zeldoris' ominous nebula which is essentially Deva Path sheningans, if I were to sum it up without going into detail.

So on top of being able to react and teleporting herself, Merlin isn't getting tagged.

....

Why Strength And Durability Is Meaningless(Offensive Abilities)

Merlin with one of the weakest physical strength values in the series, you would think she would be outmatched in her own verse. Unfortunately, she doesn't need it. She has offensive magic to easily take out most physically imposing fighters.

For example, she can control virtually any elemental magic, such as fire magic which she used to set a giant squid on fire. This squid dwarfs Diane The Giant in size, and she's several meters tall.

Magic Spell: Fire Storm

Magic Spell: Wave Dragon- Merlin can manipulate water to summon Dragons made of water.

And she has a higher magic power than magic users like Gilthunder, Hauser and Geera, who all have attacks that can threaten city blocks and towns easily.

Gilthunder and Hauser being the most notable.

The one thing that makes her almost unstoppable is her main magic ability, Meliodas would be Full Counter or his Darkness Manipulation, Ban would be his "Snatch" Gowther would be "Invasion" etc. Merlin's main magic is called "Infinity."

Although Merlin herself already confirmed that she can resist commandments,(due to her origins) her ability Infinity, and how she applied it to herself allows her to shrug off forced time manipulation(on a target) or age manipulation.

The ability itself is already considered borderline unfair and that it basically defies the law of reality and that it would take insane power to pull off something like Infinity.

No Caption Provided

The basic functionality of Infinity, is to keep magic going. To simply invoke a spell and having power constantly poured into it with virtually no limit on her part. So a spell that would require her to push past her limits to make it long lasting would take no effort at all via infinity. For example she can cast a freezing spell that constantly freezes and will stay frozen unless she cancels it. This is practically checkmate if she lands this on Kisuke.

She generated massive hurricanes, that engulfed and easily shredded the remainder of the castle of Liones, which is huge and dwarfs every other building and city block in size.

Magic Spell+Infinity: Endless Whirl

The AOE of her attacks cover a massive enough range, and I haven't even gone into how she can ensure everything will hit...

Intellect/Strategy/Technical Magic Abilities

Merlin was born in a city of sages/wizards, Belialuin. Merlin was born with amazing power that the Demon Clan and Goddess Clan wanted access to so they can turn the tide of the war. Merlin toyed with them and in her gluttony for knowledge and power, essentially had her city go through thousands of years of death and turmoil. But due to her trickery and intellect, she gained so much.

She swindled literal gods out of divine protection and knowledge on several forms of dark arts and magic. So she can see through illusions, can resist brainwashing, dispel spells, among other techniques. And used that to continue her research and further advance herself in knowledge and power. Then used her intellect, and the power she was given to effortlessly escape the ruination of an entire city, being bombarded by lightning, toxic mists, and curses.

Merlin is so skilled at bluffing, and finding ways out of situations through strategy that its almost daunting. For example, in her negotiations with Zeldoris (one of the strongest characters in the series who could have easily cut her in half instantly without her being able to do a thing) she managed to taunt Zeldoris, with her posturing and quick tongue to get him to entirely focus on her.

As you saw, this left him completely open and he got attacked, by someone Merlin happened to be paying attention to, but not Zeldoris.

Manages to get the attention of Hendrickson and Dreyfus, the captains of the holy knights to grant them an audience by creating a false illusion that created enough of a presence to resemble that of an entire army.

Merlin is also capable of creating visual illusions. These illusions are powerful enough to spread across a city. Hendricksen and Dreyfus sensed an entire army filled with numerous powers (ranging in the thousands) that could compare to holy knights from miles away.

She created a false presence essentially. This is several times more effective than the body doubles Kisuke creates. These are easier to generate as well and can easily be generated with a snap of a finger and she can create thousands of them, the scale is so much better. And you want to talk stealth? Vivian, Merlin's apprentice is capable of the same thing. She can turn invisible.

https://streamable.com/cv86v

In the 4th episode of the TV Special "Signs of Holy War" Vivian was spending the entire episode stalking Gilthunder while cloaked. Merlin knew about this, and had Meliodas go and do her dirty work. Nobody not even characters with expert sensing abilities like Gilthunder or Meliodas could detect her. Merlin not only knew she was stalking him, knew what her tactics was, and informed Meliodas about them in this episode.

Brief Counters to Kido

Literally most of the ones you shown have workarounds, the ones that tag her THEN seal her can especially be defended against via teleportation or her greatest defensive tool, perfect cube. Even Kisuke's Bankai shouldn't be able to get through.

Perfect Cube- a square/rectangular barrier that denies all entry except the caster no matter how strong or weak. This can also be put around a room or a living target to protect them or the caster from harm. Attempts to teleport into it usually fails. Merlin herself failed to teleport an entire group into the room that was inside said cube.

If one attacks it, their own attacks would be reflected back at them.

So virtually any of Kisuke's attacks will get reflected back, and he cannot even bypass the cube by using gates or a form of teleportation. The perfect defense.

Also regarding the Kido Techniques, do you mind showing feats for all of them respectively? Because I recall some of them being countered or broken out of.

You're general strategy from what I can understand is to prevent Merlin from doing anything, attempting to seal her powers or restrain her. The problem is, that Merlin can literally do the same thing.

Magic: Curse Engage: This ability allows Merlin to input a command, and link it to someone else, in the case of the gifs below, if Vivian uses magic on Gilthunder she will start to writhe in pain, and a horrible curse will spread throughout her body and if she continues to use magic on him, she'll die. Merlin could set similar conditions on Kisuke with the knowledge she'll have.

So with the right methods, she can effectively seal someone's magic on top of being able to negate certain magics already via Absolute cancel. Here's another time when Gilthunder triggered the word to activate the curse.

......

Overall Battle?

There isn't much she needs to do. Both characters have full knowledge on each other's kits, and simply has to play chess with that knowledge. You argue Urahara can ambush her, I argue that Merlin can have thousands of illusions all across the battlefield, each absolutely identical to her power and identity, while being invisible herself. You argue that Urahara can one shot her due to her frail physical strength and lack of durability. I argue that Merlin could simply shield herself with Perfect Cube. And if that takes too much work she can put up her own personal shields or barriers. A barrier from Merlin can protect an entire city from giant Albions (which have a power level of 5500, and I'll briefly mention power levels in a separate post after this one)

She can also create barriers powerful enough to take attacks from a mountainous Albion with a power level of 5500. She made a barrier that spread all across Camelot.

I wanna make note, that the shield was notably weaker because it was spread out and not focused as noted by Merlin, if a barrier was entirely focused on a smaller area there's no doubt that it would take more hits. This Albion was shrugging off attacks from Meliodas and had a higher power level than Meliodas who's around 3000.

While his power was sealed thanks to Merlin,Meliodas was capable of slashing a small mountain in half with a twig.......this feat is insane, because Meliodas maintained no contact with the mountain in question, and slashed it in half with a shockwave. He swung the twig with enough force, in an angle and fashion that it would slash through, along with the speed being used in the feat in question, Meliodas swung the twig so fast that the mountain itself got slashed before the twig vaporized due to the force.(Mountain or small hill, this is still vastly more impressive than most feats for this tier.)

You argue, kido techniques, especially ones that can restrain her, I argue that Merlin can cancel them, considering she has can cancel magic that shrank Diane as I shown before

You argue he's too durable to be taken down by her attacks? I argue that Infinity would make that irrelevant. Lets say Kisuke is resistant to fire attacks right? And he can last for 5 minutes until he starts burning up and his skin starts turning to ash. (this is a hypothetical) now imagine that burning sensation that you've dealt with for 5 minutes, actually lasting hours, weeks, months, years, an eternity, and you get a far scarier picture. Merlin can keep attacks going constantly non-stop to whittle down Kisuke despite his durability.

You would think a mad genius would have no weaknesses right? Unfortunately Merlin would laugh at the challenge and say:

"I see. I suppose I should start taking this seriously too..."

Initial thoughts:

Let me just say that this was a VERY impressive post! You have a lot of valid points and I will try to address as much as I can. Also sorry for my posts having like a thousand typos each in advance. English is not my native language which makes this tricky even with a grammar nazi tool. Anyways, before I respond to your argument in the counters section below, let me break the debate into 5 layers that I think should be addressed separately to a degree. These being the Speed argument (I will try to prove Urahara can blitz Merlin and dodge anything she can throw at him), the fighting skill and strength argument (I will try to prove that Urahara's very high CQC capabilities do matter and give him a significant advantage) durability argument ( I will try to prove that had either side be tagged, Urahara can no sell most of what Merlin can dish out while Merlin can get one shot in a variety of ways, naturally giving Urahara a greater chance to simply outlasting her in a back and forth duel) intellectual argument (I will try to prove Urahara can spend the prep time more effectively and that he has a superior intellect in general, giving him the capacity to outsmart Merlin, distract and provoke her into losing her ground) and magic argument (I will try to prove Urahara has more versatility, utility, hax and overall power in his magical kit then Merlin does, resulting in their possible exchange of magic spells resulting in Urahara winning) I'f you'd be kind enough to adress each of my arguments somewhere along the way of your counters, that would be great. Thanks! Now let's begin, shall we?

Speed argument

A) Merlin is an expert in super-speed spell casting, but she is not a speedster.

First, let’s address the speed issue in a general way. The very reason why I gave the calc for attacks per second, and not Mach XXX is to be more precise and show you the destined difference between Merlin and Urahara, proving that speed DOES matter, and indeed, it is one of the most crucial, if not THE most crucial aspect of this fight. In above post you have proven without a shadow of doubt that Merlin has incredible feats of reacting to speedsters and that in general, she feels comfortable fighting among and against them. I will not deny that in the slightest. I will also agree that this trait will help her fight Urahara to some extent. To the contrary even, it’s something I have addressed myself from the very beginning and I believe it to be true.

However, despite that Merlin is not a speedster herself and that must be addressed and underlined for all readers to understand. I'm not saying you directly stated that she is, but in the light of you posting dozens of scans worth of SDS speedster feats I feel this needs to be addressed and the line needs to be drafted. Posting countless feats for Meliodas, Ban or other characters who are actual speedsters in the SDS universe with physicals registered at tens of thousands is really pretty pointless when comparing them to Merlin, and you should know this best. Merlin’s physicals are at the level of 70, which is low street level of overall stats. It's kinda like showing Batman fighting alongside Superman and trying to prove that since Superman can move MFTL then Batman can too because here and here he reacts to him. They do not scale to eachother, at all, obviously, same goes for Meliodas and Merlin. If you will try to argue that, you are discrediting the combat level system of SDS altogether which heavily nerfs if not completely throws out of the window all of your arguments.

Some can surely retort with – “Well BUT she is capable of reacting to and cooperating with guys like Ban, Meliodas etc! So how is she NOT a speedster then? How does she do it? Is it all PIS?” Yes. I agree. That is a valid question, and I am not intending to call PIS on all that, though I could probably make this argument. Merlin wherever you look her up, is described as a particular KIND of speedster. She excels in one particular kind of speed, which is her casting speed and overall casting timing. Any reader of this thread can go through all of the feats you have posted for Merlin specifically (not for Meliodas and others ofc) and you’ll notice that right away. It’s all her casting timing. She never moves at the machxxx speeds. She does not have the ability to run, dodge, swing her arms, talk or do anything at super speeds, but only and ONLY cast spells with enough precision to tag events and characters moving at superhumans speeds. Now I'm not saying it's a bad kind of speed to have. Merlin is most certainly gonna make good use of that here. But she CAN'T dodge 100 attacks thrown in her face by moving her head around. She can't cast 100 spells to block 100 incoming attacks in one second. Much less a thousand, or a million.

Now we arrive to our main problem with your argument. The way Bleach characters fight, is by throwing countless thrusts and attacks mixed with abilities and spells in your face in a fraction of a second. Gin vs Ichigo rematch fight is a very good example of that, and I recommend checking it out for anyone not familiar with Bleach style of fighting. Throughout the fightm Gin is using his bankai abilities and spamming blade attacks at Ichigo at crazy speeds. My point is, they don't just attack once, let you counter and then wait for you to pull yourself together like SDS characters do against Merlin (Which I suppose is just PIS if you think about it). Here are some examples:

Notice that the only reason why their opponent doesn't instantly die from that kind of assault is because they have reflexes to defend themselves or just dodge the attacks... continuously. Not by performing a well calculated reaction feat but by showing ability to move precisely at the same speeds for an extended period of time, and at a continuous rate. In that context Merlin may be able to react to Urahara's initial single spell or attack by timing it correctly, but she won't be able to react to 200 million attacks per second that he can pull off. And like I mentioned, even if my calc for attacks per second is VERY much off (I'll try to back it up better below) the amounts of attacks that Urahara can throw in Merlin's face in an instant is still far too great for Merlin to digest with her feats of reacting to only a singular event each time. In other words, if Urahara sends a barrage of attacks Merlin's way, attacking her from behind, above, below, in front, spamming blade attacks and using his dolls as fakes, blasting close range rnergy attacks from his sword in between and who knows what else... and he does not even millions but just a 100 actions like these all in a fraction of a second, Merlin will not be able to react to all of them and you know that very well. Not even close. That's really all there is to it.

B) My scaling calc is better than yours either way!

In order to completely SMASH this section of our argument, I'll just unroll with the fact that I didn't give you my best calc on purpose. Actually, I barely gave you any calc at all, I just elaborated on Bleach character's ability to attack continuously, in order to use it for above argument. But now that this is dealt with, and now that your calcs have been displayed too, let me kindly match and surpass them, so that it's completely obvious to any reader that even casting timing feats of Merlin can not even compare with Urahara's, scalings or not. To meet your calcs, I'll use the linear movement calc featuring MACH's, MPH's and LS% Enjoy!

One of Yhwach's abilities is called Auswählen. It's a beam of light Yhwach's sends to strip his unfitting subordinates from power. At one point, he sends the beams of light all the way back from Soul King Palace from Soul Society and hits several Sternritters with it. The distance is approximately 1,900,000,000 miles as it apparently took Ichigo 9 hours to cross and we do know his top speed at the time would be about 220,000,000mph based on some simple scalings:

Ichigo’s top speed by the Blood War arc would be around 220,000,000 mph based off him being lightning speed (220,000mph) during the Byakuya fight (which was stated by the guide book)

No Caption Provided

and having at least 2 times 10 multiplications along the way (BWA Ichigo has the combined powers which include Vasto Lorde, a form at least 10 times faster than Masked Ichigo which is at least 10 times faster than Base bankai Ichigo. The times 10 multiplication is taken from the shikai-> bankai scaling difference that is visible between each form. Masked Ichigo scales to that difference because of him being comparable to Grimmjaw before and after Ressurection which is an official bankai equivalent and Vasto Lorde Ichigo scales to difference between Ulquiorra before and after Ressurection which is again, an official bankai equivalent, in other words a times 10 powerup. Nerfing Ichigo handily to only achieving the level of first form Ressurection Ulquiorra by the time of BWA we come to the conclusion he is at least 220,000,000mph. I think it would be fair to say he is a lot faster by that point, but I'm lowballing him on purpose to stay clear out of any wank speculations.

Either way, based on that calc we know Auswählen, which traveled that exact distance instantly upon Yhwach using it is actually a MFTL attack (about 1200 times faster than speed of light). And despite that, there were numerous instances in which mid-tier Sternritters were able to react to it, and DODGE it.

No Caption Provided

If this seems to be a ridiculous highball and PIS, let me just address the fact that there are characters who have light-based attacks among Sternritters, a good example of that would be Lille who's entire ability kit is based around light-based attacks, and BW arc characters react to his attacks without it being seemingly out of the realm of possibilities.

No Caption Provided

Now since we already established that mid to high tier Sternritters from BW arc have reactions relativistic to light speeds, how does Urahara scale to that? Well he fought Askin, one of the most powerful Sternritters in the series, and not only was he keeping up with him throughout their fight, but he even when heavily slowed down by the effects of toxicity coming from Gift Ball Delux he was able to BLITZ Askin.

With that feat up his sleeve, we can calculate that Urahara is able to move at last at MACH 1,048,836,000 ...while being severely slowed down. I know it's pretty ridiculous, and honestly I don't think the final result is accurate at all... but hey, if we're going all the way with these calcs, I'll take it, even if we consider it's a highball and inconsistent writing, it still gets the job done - it clearly shows you that Urahara is simply much faster then anything Merlin ever reacted to.

CONCLUSION:

Merlin might be super fast in her casting reflexes and casting timing, but she is not a speedster and I proved that. Urahara is on the other hand. This is a very crucial difference, because while Merlin may be able to react to some of Urahara's attacks by timing them with a counter spell properly, she won't be able to react to a barrage of attacks coming at super speeds, which is something likely to happen considering its a common fighting strategy in Bleach.

With that I conclude Urahara should win the fight, due to his ability to shower Merlin with a hail of super-speed attacks she can't possibly respond to in time.
Even if we ignore the fact that Merlin can't respond to continuous super-speed assault and only focus on our little competition of comparing speed calcs of other characters who scale to Urahara and Merlin, I win handily with my feat of Urahara blitzing top tier Sternritters while being slowed down, who fight and operate at light speeds, and even have feats of reacting to FTL attacks. (Which puts Urahara roughly at least at MACH billion by proper calculation... which is a ridiculous highball, but still shows you at least a grain of truth and proves Urahara is simply put, much faster then anything ever seen in SDS)

With that I conclude Urahara should win the fight via good ol' blitz.

Fighting skill and strength argument

You addressed this part of the argument rather briefly, which I feel doesn't do the justice to an advantage Kisuke's holding here. Obviously Merlin's ability to dodge attacks with teleport and shield herself with Perfect Cube can not be denied. And even if we ignore the issue of speed, call it too hard to properly measure and for a moment consider them equals in that field completely, do you actually think fighting skill is altogether completely irrelevant and doesn't provide any additional edge in a duel? Obviously it does and in SDS that's clearly visible as well.

Let's turn around for a second. I mentioned Urahara is a professional assassin and that he loves dirty tricks and cheapshots. He will literally do anything to win, without stupid pride getting in the way. This is his mentality.

No Caption Provided

Now how is Merlin reacting to him, for example, hiding and suddenly striking her from a blind spot, which is very likely? (He attacked from behind almost every opponent he ever faced) I proved he can conceal both his magical presence and the noises he makes perfectly with the use of gadgets such as reiatsu cloak and stealth skills. So if Merlin can't sens him, and has no training to react to assassins like himself, is Merlin then immune to element of surprise? I can't see any proper reaction from Merlin when she got her back taken by Galand. Others had to protect her. No Perfect Cubes or Teleports. Seems to me she was just taken by a surprise, don't you think? You say it doesn't matter that Urahara is a pro assassin? I disagree.

No Caption Provided

The same argument can be made about Merlin's inability to match Urahara in strength and general CQC skill. Even the fact that Urahara has a sword and Merlin is completely unarmed works in Urahara's favor instantly. Obviously if they were somehow restricted to fight from a distance using spells only, this doesn't matter at all. But like I proved above, Urahara even with completely equal speed will be able to close the distance EASILY and then the difference in their skill and overall CQC capabilities will be a great deal. Cutting someone's face open with a flick of a wrist takes much less time than casting a spell and is a lot more convenient. The fact is, Urahara is a very well rounded character, while Merlin is your typical range support character. She needs her tanks and DPS's to be really effective as a team member. When she faces solo against other characters with similar abilities (for example other mages or Ten commandments members who use hax rather than strength) she may be a tough opponent to face because you can't beat her in her own game. But against Urahara, she is physically outmatched way too much to ignore. Urahara is perfect as a support character too with his hax and magic but he is also a deadly solo player and a duelist. His duel against Aizen, a guy who a Bleach team buster with tons of stats, hax and wits all around proves that best.

CONCLUSION:

Merlin may be a great mage, but she is no fighter, and in the end it does matter if Urahara ever manages to close the distance between them, which is very likely. Even if Merlin gets away with a spell once or twice, her escaping him indefinitely is very unlikely due to his speed, misdirection techniques, assassin training and general stealthy and dirty approach to combat. Challenging Urahara to a pure magic duel is out of the question. If this guy sees a single opportunity to dip his sword in Merlin's back, he will take it and Merlin can't survive a successful assault. This heavily increases his odds of winning this battle.

With that I conclude Urahara should win the fight by taking it to CQC with one of his tricks, which if ever happens even for a second will result in him stomping Merlin badly with his superior strength, dc and skill.

Durbility argument

This is interesting. I'd really like you to elaborate more on this part of the argument because you barely mentioned it. What you did say is mention that Infinity makes Urahara's edge in durability irrelevant. I disagree very strongly. Even assuming Merlin somehow gets around Urahara's incredible reflexes and that she manages to tag him with a spell and bypass his regai decoys, and say, if she uses a fire storm or exterminator ray or any other dc spell, Urahara is most certainly not going to stay within the range of the blast. I mean come on! He is not stupid. Being targeted with a spell and tagged he is gonna dodge immediately or cast a defensive shield or bakudo spell and then dodge before the shield breaks exposing him again. The scenario in which Urahara just lets Merlin roast him for good couple minutes until she can finally deal enough dc to actually hurt him is just silly. In general I think this argument is a very strong case in favor of Urahara that really hardly can be debated. Unless some hax that bypass conventional durability are involved, durability always matters. The fact that Urahara can simply take much, MUCH more punishment then Merlin can not be denied. I'm not saying that this is enough for Urahara to win. But it certainly helps! And you can't deny that much. If these two ever engage in a prolonged duel, Urahara will be able to outlast Merlin very effectively. With his feats of surviving hax of Gift Ball Delux and Aizen's AoE energy attacks I think argument can be made Merlin lacks the ability to put down Urahara for good at all.

CONCLUSION:

With that I conclude Urahara has increased chances of winning this fight based on his ability to tank most of what Merlin can do, while Merlin is getting one shot by most of what Urahara can do.

Intellectual argument

A few times throughout your counter you said that Urahara's plans take a long time to prepare. You are wrong. In fact, there was not a single plan that took Urahara a long time to prepare in the entire series. Even for his revenge against Aizen he did not prepare for the 100 years they were separated. To the contrary. Urahara only learned that Aizen managed to fuse with a hogyoku and that because of that he became immortal minutes before his arrival on the battlefield, and his plan to successfully defeat and seal him away thus had to be literally put together on the spot. Remember, that Aizen kept that a secret and he only exposed it to Ichigo after defeating General Yamamoto.

No Caption Provided

If you want more examples, Urahara has conducted research, found an antidote and prepared a proper magic device to counter Yhwach's bankai stealing seals in a matter of moments. There were no time lapses between Urahara arriving to Hueco Mundo where he observed the phenomenon first and him handing over the complete countermeasure product to Gotei 13 when he handed in over to Mayuri. If this doesn't sound impressive, this bankai stealing technique was by far the most powerful weapon quincy's brought to the Blood War. Only because of that they were able to crush Soul Society the way they did, killing Yamamoto and crushing majority of the Captains. And Urahara just needs a few moments in his workshop with scraps of knowledge he has on that technique, and he counters it.

No Caption Provided

The 1000 steps ahead thing I talked about never included long prep time either. It's rather his mindset than a literal 1000 steps he prepared for before stepping into Blood War. He didn't have any intel on Askin and his abilities when he told him that. If you assume Urahara literally created 1000 steps in his fight against Askin, he would've had to do that WHILE fighting him, without a minute of prep time beforehand. And if that's not an effective use of prep time I don't know what is!

I'm not trying to prove Urahara can come up with an instant anti-Merlin gadget in an hour. Probably he could, but I'm trying to stick with what we've seen him actually do. I think this is only fair. He most certainly is going to spend his hour of prep time studying Merlin's magic, and her ability Infinity to find a countermeasure. I think it's safe to say that in an hour he will be very productive doing that, and he is likely going to come up with a gadget that can repel or dispel Merlin's magic and Infinity's effects. He may also try to tap into some of her weaknesses, like her weak physicals with some gadgets.

With that said, I also find your argument on Merlin prepping a 1000 clones of herself pretty weird. When did she ever do something like that in the manga? I can't recall her ever doing something even remotely similar. If that's not her usual way of utilizing prep, I suggest you also stick with what she is usually doing with it and then I suppose I can talk about that and try to counter it. What you described I find very unlikely. It also wouldn't take long for Urahara to take down 1000 clones with an AoE spell or just by blitzing them Yoruichi style so... yeah, so much for that.

No Caption Provided

I'm not gonna argue too much in this section, because you clearly acknowledge that Urahara is the smarter between the two. I'll just say that I'm convinced that Urahara will spend his hour more effectively and I proved that he can prep incredible plans and make countermeasures to even most powerful magic in a matter of moments. And finally, like I mentioned Urahara can outsmart Merlin while in combat. You didn't address that either, so I was wondering, if you could elaborate on that as well?

CONCLUSION:
Urahara is clearly the smarter between the two and I proved he can make perfect counters to complex and powerful abilities in a matter of moments and with limited knowledge. With full knowledge and an hour of prep at his disposal, he is likely going to find a way to get around Merlin's magic and abilities even more comfortably and he will surely use his hour of prep more effectively. He will also be able to counter anything stalling or provocation related Merlin can think of, being a mastermind in those kind of tricks himself.

With that I conclude Urahara will win this fight by better utilizing prep time and bringing a counter trump card into battle. He will be also likely able to outsmart Merlin while they are fighting.

Magic argument

Let me just start by saying that although I think Merlin is a very powerful mage, it's rather clear from what you've shown that she lacks in both DC and hax to really compete with Urahara in a magic battle. Unless you hide some trump card spell for Merlin, I don't think the two spells you listed are really gonna be a factor.

Perfect Cube:

Like I mentioned in my opening post, Urahara has a perfect way to counter Perfect Cube. First of all, there is the Senkaimon, which Urahara later in the story can put instantly, anywhere he wants, without any preparation. Perfect Cube does not deny anyone using their magic or abilities. It simply denies you getting past the barrier. So if Urahara can put up a Senkaimon while he is being sealed in Perfect Cube or if he would want to get inside of it from another world - I can't see why he would't be able to do it. Senkaimon is a gate between dimensions. It doesn't take you outside the barrier, it takes you into another dimension altogether. In other words Urahara can just put up a dimension gate to get out and into the Perfect Cube by crossing dimensions. If there are any instances when Perfect Cube denied a dimension crossing attempt then by all means, I'd like to hear that. But unless you can prove it can, I consider countering Perfect Cube a piece of cake for Urahara.

Then, there's Urahara's bankai. Urahara can restructure reality with it,and Perfect Cube is a part of reality, I believe it is a physical barrier made of magic energy. It's not intangible or smh, it just seems to be a tangible forcefield to me. In that case, Urahara should be able to restructure it with his bankai, splitting it open. I mean I don't know that much about Perfect Cube to really argue here, but it seems to me to be a fair conclusion. Unless, of course, Perfect Cube has feats of resisting reality alteration.

Magic curse engage:

This is rather interesting, but I doubt Merlin will be able to use it on someone as powerful as Urahara. Urahara is not a mortal, but a death god too, so the odds of a curse affecting him are very thin in my opinion. Additionally, I think Urahara will be able to dodge Merlins's spells. We've seen it is possible to do it. No spell is really instant in SDS. Even teleport that doesn't seem to have any visual effect and is homing to a target Merlin just thinks about, can be dodged with enough mobility, which was proved by Galand:

No Caption Provided

so even if we assume that the Curse would work fine on Urahara, he can always dodge it. Additionally, giving Urahara's insane intellect, he would be probably able to find a way around the condition set by the Curse and still win. For example, with the same conditions you gave as an example, Urahara would still be able to use his sword abilities which are technically not spells, as well as his technology, and physical attacks, which all would be enough to finish the fight.

I'd also like to point out in this section, that though Merlin may be able to shield herself with instant Perfect Cubes from most incoming hado spells, she really has no way of dealing with bakudo spells. For example, bakudo 99 I described, are homing threads of black cloth that appear around you strangle you until you can't move a muscle Rikkujokkoro similarly, produces homing light beams that strike you and paralyze your every muscle. If Urahara uses that, Perfect Cube wont really help. The beams and cloth will be inside the Cube attached to Merlin, she will be sealing them with herself.

If you'll fine time, I'd also be thankful for some more counters to the spells and zanpaktou abilities I mentioned. Many of them I feel are very powerful trump cards in a magical duel between the two, but they sadly went unaddressed, even the bankai!

CONCLUSION:

Since I've presented a lot more hax and magic spells Urahara has at his disposal, and much of them are yet to be countered by my opponent, I consider Urahara vastly superior mage and spellcaster for now. Most importantly, Urahara's shikai and bankai powers - his most powerful abilities, are still not countered, which leaves Urahara with a significant edge in utility and dc.

With that I conclude Urahara will win this fight by being a more powerful and versatile spellcaster, with much wider range of abilities and more hax at his disposal.

Counters

Why Combat Speed Doesn't Matter here, And Counters

The problem with this is the fastest and most dangerous technique in the verse is Mach 500. A stronger and faster Ichigo was struggling with this technique.Based off this calc, correct me If I am wrong since you did the research, but this seems to exceed that stated value, making it inconsistent If I were to accept it. , mind you, I am aware that Gin said he lied about the speed and length,

First of all, this. Gin was talking bullshit to Ichigo, which he himself pointed out, so saying he actually meant Mach 500 when talking about his bankai is just not true. Secondly, since data books talk about Ichigo being the speed of lightning as of his first bankai amp, this is obviously incorrect. Then we have the characters using light as weapons and other characters reacting to that, which I addressed. In other words, this is both an outlier if taken seriously that does not match with everything else shown in the series, and a straight lie even in the context of that line.

Secondly, there is literally no way to know how many petals he took down per slash, several being the one you used to lowball the calc, is vague as well. He could have taken down hundreds, thousands, or maybe millions with each slash. And who's to say it was precise cuts?

You are being very unfair here. Obviously you can't cut millions of petals each the size of a flower petal with one blade swing which is the size of a normal blade. You can cut a few of them, sure, but how do you cut down more than the blade can literally swipe with one swing? You can't. Also the cuts HAD to be precise. If as much as a single petal went through Ichigo's defense, it could cut into his heart and kill him. Byakuya said specifically he cut down ALL of them so obviously he had to be very precise, cutting down a billion petals without skipping as much as one. I really feel like you are trying to nerf this feat more then it deserves. Like I said I don't need the number to be that precise to prove my point. But I see no reason to lowball this feat THIS much. It's obvious that cutting a billion tiny objects down in a second with a thing steel katana is bloody impressive and requires absolutely ridiculous speed and precision, and Urahara scaling to that proves my point about Merlin not being able to dodge a combo of attacks from a high tier Bleach character. That is really all there is to it.

This feat is not quantifiable nor reliable to use. I'm sure you have better.

Actually I think that since we're given both the time frame and a number of objects Ichigo cut down this is pretty insanely accurate and quantifiable giving that most anime feats don't give us a single measurable property to work with. Also I did give you other feats and calcs just in case you don't like that one :)

That's not enough nor anywhere near impressive. For example, Meliodas was able to do something better.

I already proved in the Speed Argument section that Melioda's feats in the end are not as impressive as the feats of high tier Bleach characters. I also talked about Merlin not being a real speedster anyway so I'll just skip this section.

Merlin's ability to use teleport is clearly not enough to save her in all situations. There are many counters to it I already described in the sections above, but let me just say that teleport:

- wont save Merlin indefinitely. She can be tagged before she can react and cast another teleport, for example her fight against Galand.

- won't prove a defense against homing spells, which Urahara has a few. Merlin can only teleport across real world distances, so the homing spells will follow her and some of them being for example beams of light (take Rikkujokkoro) they will catch up immediatelly.

- won't protect her if she is caught off guard using stealth

- won't protect her gainst barriers that block teleportation. Yeah, actually those exist in Bleach as well and Urahara as a kido master should be able to use them, or at least learn them in his spare hour of prep.

- won't protect her if she is attacked faster then she is casting. Which I already proved in Speed Argument section, is pretty much inevitable.

....

Why Strength And Durability Is Meaningless(Offensive Abilities)

I already said anything I wanted to in the sections above I think...

Intellect/Strategy/Technical Magic Abilities

And same here.

Overall Battle?

Is going to be very, very ugly for Merlin, that's for sure!

Speed

However, despite that Merlin is not a speedster herself and that must be addressed and underlined for all readers to understand. I'm not saying you directly stated that she is, but in the light of you posting dozens of scans worth of SDS speedster feats I feel this needs to be addressed and the line needs to be drafted. Posting countless feats for Meliodas, Ban or other characters who are actual speedsters in the SDS universe with physicals registered at tens of thousands is really pretty pointless when comparing them to Merlin, and you should know this best. Merlin’s physicals are at the level of 70, which is low street level of overall stats.

......first off, the fact that she kept up with them immediately makes this entire argument null and void, you cannot negate it, you cannot say "oh she will struggle" there's no ifs and buts about it. Consistently,(the only anti-feat being Galan who I will address) Merlin has successfully reacted to every hostile threat that has come her way. She has only been tagged three times out of every single combat showing she has in the series and all of them, so you have no argument, you have no ground. And you're bringing up powerlevels now? I'll just copy and paste what I normally bring up for PLs

NNT is basically a more sophisticated and consistent DBZ, along with more detail in fights. Power Levels and Power Scaling is the easiest thing in the world in NNT, because you can automatically tell who's in what areas of stats and ability based off the fights and choreography of said fights. For example, Gloxina of the commandments although durable based off feats, without certain amps or abilities, his physical strength is just as pathetic as Kings and he's pretty fragile. All Fairies are like this, but their TK strength and magic power is pretty impressive. Meliodas naturally has balanced out stats in terms of magic and power, spirit varies from person to person, what the hell am i talking about you may ask? Check this out:

Power Levels are divided into a few subcategories

Say someone had a strength feat they performed with a level of 2000 or something, arguments could be made of someone with a higher level or a comparable level doing the same, and they wouldn't be too much speculation because it would be someone of a particular STRENGTH level. And the thing is, it's not inconsistent, i could sit here, and spend time showing you each power level of each commandment, sin, holy knight, goddess, then going in detail as why it makes sense a certain character has this power level and that power level, i couldn't do this with DBZ.

Now, the strength level, is mostly raw power, physical strength. It doesn't always have anything to do with speed. I wanna focus on your next horrible analogy real quick

Huge difference is, Batman is clearly seen as inferior, and I can find several different scans of superman or a similar tiered opponent blitzing him without him being able to respond whatsoever. Merlin is one of the strongest characters in the series.... Merlin clearly scales off of them, Batman for obvious reasons clearly doesn't scale off of superman.

No I'm not, the fact that you are arguing this shows you know little of the combat level system considering King and other fairies have a strength level of 0 but King has insane durability feats, tanking explosions, taking hits from characters that can level cities and bust mountains, and outpacing explosions.....Hell Gowther, one of the most analytical characters in the series, even states PLs are basically a form of reference anyway, and similar to DBZ they aren't 100 percent reliable for measurements.

This is nice and all, but like I said before, its reaction time. If she can perceive and react, she doesn't need agility, she doesn't need fantastic motor reflexes to do a cartwheel away from Urahara's attacks, all she needs to do is fly or teleport away, which is an insanely simple solution and approach that has effectively worked against fast opponents. She doesn't need to turn her head, or duck under an attack when she has instantaneous teleportation that she can utilize.

My point is, they don't just attack once, let you counter and then wait for you to pull yourself together like SDS characters do against Merlin (Which I suppose is just PIS if you think about it). Here are some examples:

???? But why would that matter? If you are agreeing that Merlin can simply react and dodge at least once, why couldn't she do it twice? Or three times? Her mobility option is an instantaneous teleportation technique. Lets say she can react to a lightning strike to be very specific, all she needs to do is teleport to dodge it right? Why wouldn't she be able to constantly repeat this process if she has the mobility option to do so?

And lets assume you are right, one single counter is all she needs....

You aren't understanding, she isn't reacting by timing it correctly she simply reacts. When I said she has barely been tagged, I'm not talking out of my ass, she was doing fine defending herself in fights against Chandler and Cusack(I think I showed this already)

If she can react to an assault by simply casting a spell, or teleporting, or putting up barriers, whatever the case may be, why can't she simply repeat the process everytime she counterattacks?

In other words, if Urahara sends a barrage of attacks Merlin's way, attacking her from behind, above, below, in front, spamming blade attacks and using his dolls as fakes, blasting close range rnergy attacks from his sword in between and who knows what else... and he does not even millions but just a 100 actions like these all in a fraction of a second, Merlin will not be able to react to all of them and you know that very well. Not even close. That's really all there is to it.

???? Okay? So Merlin wouldn't be able to counter attack with large AOE techniques, immediately, magic cancel or absolute cancel(which can both be used at a range) or bring up a barrier? Or even teleport Urahara away?(Mind you Galan only avoided Merlin's teleportation because he specifically knew the exact radius, and jumped outside of said radius, that's easier said than done, the amount of prediction you would have to do to even pull that off is insane) even if you were right, all Merlin needs is one spell to ruin Urahara's momentum in his assault. If by some chance she gets tagged, Merlin either always has personal shields up in combat or she actually has durability feats, because there have been specific instances where she took attacks head on.

The first time, was when she was ambushed by Zeldris, who attacked her with hellblaze.

Hellblaze is a demonic fire magic exclusive to the demon clan, it generally prevents regeneration, is hotter than normal fire, and cannot put out through normal means. To give you an idea, Dolor of the Giant Clan, went out of his way to change his molecular composition just to defend against it utilizing the technique Heavy Metal to make his body heavier, denser and more durable.

The Seven Deadly Sins Chapter 173

Another time she got tagged was when Zeldris was utilizing Ominus Nebula, a technique where Zeldris draws his sword and swings it so fast constantly that it creates a vacuum that drags his opponents into his sword range. Escanor did shield Merlin, but herself and Escanor still got sent flying into a wall at massively hypersonic speeds, with Escanor(who weighs like 700 pounds) and his axe(heavy enough for Galan and Meliodas to only be able to drag it) being sent flying with her(you can see it in his hand)

Although she admits here that she had trouble teleporting in time, mind you she was carrying Hendrickson and Gilthunder with a telekinesis spell, and Zeldris drastically increased his speed and force(this is the scan before the ones I posted above) Merlin had no problem teleporting to avoid getting dragged into his range afterwards.

The most recent time she was tagged was against The Sinner, a composite between Chandler and Cusack, that managed to counterattack one of her techniques. She was only minorly inconvenienced and got back up just fine.

It would take way too long to go through all the scaling of the characters, to give you a solid idea, Galan The Truth, not counting Melascula and Dreyfus, is arguably the weakest commandment, is in the mountain level range.

This is incredibly impressive, considering Galan was one of the bricks of the Ten Commandments, who had feats such as these:

Cutting mountainous landscapes and creating huge fissures as a result.
Cutting mountainous landscapes and creating huge fissures as a result.

Wipes out a portion of camelot, just because he wanted some space. He did this with merely a shockwave.

and Galan is the weakest brick of the commandments(Dolor, Zeldris, Estarossa are all massively stronger to the point where he's actually fodder)

Escanor was among one of the most powerful characters in the series, boasting insane durability and strength. He took a hit from Galan at full power,(imagine all of his feats and multiply that by 2) and the slash was powerful enough to cut nearby mountains/hills

Anime Version: https://streamable.com/3q96a

Escanor no sold that attack, but was pushing himself and getting pushed around by The Sinner at higher levels of power, and was nearly half dead.

None of this even matters because of the strategy Merlin's going to pull anyway.

After reading that entire section, that calc is a bundle of multipliers and assumptions to a degree, especially with the properties of the attack. By that reason couldn't I say Merlin is LS or beyond as well? Ark, the main technique of the Goddess clan, is created by light particles. And pretty much most techniques of the goddesses, like Ludo or Elizabeth are based off light.

Ichigo’s top speed by the Blood War arc would be around 220,000,000 mph based off him being lightning speed (220,000mph) during the Byakuya fight (which was stated by the guide book)

Huge difference between like and as bro. The databook statement doesn't really prove anything, plus right after it describes his speed as "godlike" which is very vague. The lack of credibility on that alone destroys your whole calculation.

Wait, maybe I read it wrong, but isn't that faster than the final result you got for Ichigo????? Wouldn't that mean that your calc is basically saying that Urahara is faster than Ichigo, who fought the strongest character in the series? In addition lets go back to what you were saying about mid-tier Sternritters.

They were able to react and dodge the beam of light, but yet it took Ichigo 9 hours to cross it? That's a huge contradiction, plus Ichigo easily blitzed these same Sternritters who dodged it in your scan.

So you determined the speed of Auswahlen, based off how long it took Ichigo to cross it? Then showed someone who is fodder to ichigo dodging it instantly? That makes no sense.

Also I only mentioned the Galan calc specifically for the sake of mentioning it, its not a reliable feat to use in debates currently. Similar to your calcs, there's contradictions and other variables that need to be taken into account.

Skill

You addressed this part of the argument rather briefly, which I feel doesn't do the justice to an advantage Kisuke's holding here. Obviously Merlin's ability to dodge attacks with teleport and shield herself with Perfect Cube can not be denied. And even if we ignore the issue of speed, call it too hard to properly measure and for a moment consider them equals in that field completely, do you actually think fighting skill is altogether completely irrelevant and doesn't provide any additional edge in a duel? Obviously it does and in SDS that's clearly visible as well.

But clearly in fights that Merlin has partook in, skill didn't play a factor because she was using magic to make it irrelevant. She's a mage, not a swordsman, why should I bother talking to you about close combat when its obvious Urahara has that advantage? I'm not responding to an essay that gets us nowhere.

I disagree.

Because she has high level senses, can create illusions to prevent you from tracking her, and can conceal her magic power just like Urahara???? Plus she will have knowledge on his capabilities to do all this? Took her back? I mean that's a given considering he completely jumped out of the radius of her spell with raw speed and then rushed behind her, plus that was merlin prior to her development of infinity, along with the experimentation she did while Meliodas was MIA. As soon as she appeared to fight Grayroad, she was basically stronger and was ready to fight the commandments.

But that's just it, Merlin can force a fight from a distance...... she can manipulate the fight to her favor because she has the tools to do so, massive scale illusions, teleportation, AOE techniques, everything she has is a counter to a duelist. She can even cast illusions on her attack magic. Making you think one attack is coming but its an entirely different attack to begin with. In addition the Ten Commandments were mostly bricks with some magic at their disposal. Chandler, Cusack and Zeldris barely used magic in their most recent fight.(Zeldris and Cusack are master swordsmen) you say he can cut someone's face open faster than Merlin can cast a spell? Tell that to her when she teleported Meliodas away from the commandments hundreds of miles away before Zeldris and Dreyfus could cut him down.

BTW she had to manually cast the spell after 10 seconds passed, meaning as soon as time was up she had to cast the spell before those two even managed to blitz him.

If she can teleport away the first time, why not the second? She can spam her teleportation technique.....she managed to easily stop someone else from teleporting just by spamming it at high speeds faster than she could react. I think I showed this already.

That makes no sense, plus she has ways to stuff his approach via ranged attacks or AOE attacks. SHE CAN LITERALLY CAST ILLUSIONS. So how would Urahara confirm Merlin's location as the battle begins?

Durability

This is interesting. I'd really like you to elaborate more on this part of the argument because you barely mentioned it. What you did say is mention that Infinity makes Urahara's edge in durability irrelevant. I disagree very strongly. Even assuming Merlin somehow gets around Urahara's incredible reflexes and that she manages to tag him with a spell and bypass his regai decoys, and say, if she uses a fire storm or exterminator ray or any other dc spell, Urahara is most certainly not going to stay within the range of the blast. I mean come on! He is not stupid.

I didn't? I apologize, Infinity allows Merlin to constantly put power into her attacks, to keep a magic going, in other words, her magic reserves are literally infinite. She cannot tire out, she cannot run out of magic power. This allows her to continuously amplify her own attacks for example. She beat someone in a beam struggle that she normally wouldn't by utilizing this method.

But I never said he was going to stand there and take it.

I don't really care that Urahara has better durability? I mean I'm arguing that Merlin is beating Urahara in a fight, not arguing who is more durable and who has the better physical strength. That in itself doesn't matter, what matters is who is going to win and why, if you think it is because of that then argue as such and move on, don't constantly ask for a comparison of durability feats and strength feats if my main argument and approach is not a slugfest but essentially a hax vs hax showdown. And yes she can bypass conventional durability, by literally creating weaknesses. Chandler and Cusack were incredibly well rounded, but they had elements that even they were susceptible to even if it was to a small extent. Merlin figured that out by analyzing them utilizing a spell called Double Impact.

This combined multiple elements together as one attack, and multiplied its effectiveness and strength, and she used it to figure out what attacks they are most resistant to and what attacks they are least resistant to.

You're probably thinking "okay so what? Urahara will know she is capable of this and when it happens he will be able to counter it or offset or even negate it someway" Well, that's just it. Its not that simple.

She casted various magic spells to make her attacks harder to deal with, she made them invisible, imperceptible so you cannot sense their starting part or origin, auto tracking to automatically hit targets without her needing to move a finger in response to words and movement. So literally every step you make you will get hit.

She doesn't even need to analyze Urahara's weaknesses to do this mind you, making her spells invisible or auto-tracking would be child's play. On top of already being capable of creating illusions to cause misdirection? That's checkmate. You say she'll sneak up on her and attempt to assassinate her? That's cute. Merlin was already aware that Vivian was following Gilthunder utilizing invisibility, and had Meliodas and Gowther do the dirty work for her.(BTW this is insanely impressive, Meliodas and Gowther have the most impressive senses in the series yet they couldn't sense Vivian while she had invisibility casted on her, a technique Merlin likely taught her)

To give you an idea on their senses. Meliodas sensed Gilthunder throwing his spear from 8 miles away and knew that the trajectory would hit the village they were staying at.

Gowther can tell the exact distance and location of an explosion with only his hearing.

Sensed a projectile coming towards their location and calculated the exact timeframe that it would arrive

Meliodas sensed a chimera near Margaret Liones that could turn itself invisible, and targeted it and destroyed it.

So the fact that Merlin not only has spells that can make her attacks untraceable and make herself and other objects invisible, but knew that Vivian was the one who was following Gilthunder says a lot about what a stealth attack is going to do. Also do you mind showing me some scans for the cloak in question and its effectiveness? Because I believe I found a scan in relation to it, and it leads me to believe that it doesn't render him invisible, it simply makes it impossible to sense him. Which doesn't really help him.

No Caption Provided

Also Aizen was apparently able to detect and dodge his attack

Intellect

I won't bother going back and forth about this because I don't feel like spending an hour researching the arc just to refute it, so i'll take your word for it, for now. But I would appreciate it if you would post scans for your prep and intellect related feats, since those are reliant on context, and you simply telling me, without at least citing the chapter number to make up for the scans, doesn't help at all.

How will he counter Infinity? Infinity is literally a form of time manipulation. Its not something you can just sit in a workshop for. All the prep related strategies and counters I made were based off actual feats and items she had or created. Urahara has some nice feats of countering others, but deciphering time manipulation isn't that simple considering he never did anything like that. Tap into her weaknesses? I mean if he is going to spend time doing that, I doubt he will find time for deciphering anything else.

???? Illusions of herself? I mean I literally showed scans of her casting an illusion of an army. Why couldn't she do something similar? Anyway, so he blitzes the "clones"; In the interval he wastes attacking the illusions, Merlin takes the time to either immediately counterattack, or prep any more spells for the few seconds she will be given by Urahara doing so.

Im not gonna argue too much in this section, because you clearly acknowledge that Urahara is the smarter between the two.

You're asking me to elaborate on things that don't need elaborating, my argument above pretty much did all of that. You say Urahara can outsmart Merlin, that's great, how is he doing that? What is his approach? Tell me what is he going to do? Because your strategy from what I can understand is literally him assassinating Merlin somehow.

Magic and Stuff

Let me just start by saying that although I think Merlin is a very powerful mage, it's rather clear from what you've shown that she lacks in both DC and hax to really compete with Urahara in a magic battle. Unless you hide some trump card spell for Merlin, I don't think the two spells you listed are really gonna be a factor.

Already posted what I needed for Merlin to win this fight. I only mentioned the two spells to show variety. I could easily scale her magic to mountain level if not beyond in terms of potency if necessary, but that's not the main thing that will win her the fight.

??? Merlin used teleportation, which is a manipulation of space in most fictional works, and couldn't get past Perfect Cube.... great Urahara can use his abilities, and? Where does that get you?

Even if you were right, he doesn't use Senkaimon's in combat. Plus Senkaimon's don't open up that fast, so the instant one opened up in perfect cube Merlin can teleport him back in.(with the knowledge she would have this would be even easier.) And if she used it to protect herself, and he tried to enter, she could just escape with teleportation.

?????? Restructure reality? Can you post more scans in relation to the bankai please?

Magic curse engage:

This is rather interesting, but I doubt Merlin will be able to use it on someone as powerful as Urahara. Urahara is not a mortal, but a death god too, so the odds of a curse affecting him are very thin in my opinion. Additionally, I think Urahara will be able to dodge Merlins's spells. We've seen it is possible to do it. No spell is really instant in SDS. Even teleport that doesn't seem to have any visual effect and is homing to a target Merlin just thinks about, can be dodged with enough mobility, which was proved by Galand:

Don't really care that he's a shinigami, you need a feat or something that suggests a curse wouldn't effectively work on him. Curse Engage isn't much different from some of the sealing kido other combatants have used except more potent and specific. Galand only dodged her teleport because he knew the range of the spell, and guessed the activation speed.

so even if we assume that the Curse would work fine on Urahara, he can always dodge it.

Good luck dodging literally every spell that will be invisible, impossible to perceive or sense, and that auto-track your every move. "probably finding a way" isn't an argument. If that can qualify as an argument, then I can say, "given Merlin's track record of trickery and magic/science innovation she could probably find some work around Urahara's intellect with her own intellect" its not a good argument, you need something to go off on at least. Go ahead and use your sword attacks against Perfect Cube, which redirects force at whoever attacks it.

Yes she would because the spell would have to gain entry. If teleportation couldn't work, the bakudo spells aren't working. Plus she can teleport away from them if they are coming towards her. I don't think you realize how much of a solution Perfect Cube and Teleportation are in this matchup.

you'll fine time, I'd also be thankful for some more counters to the spells and zanpaktou abilities I mentioned. Many of them I feel are very powerful trump cards in a magical duel between the two, but they sadly went unaddressed, even the bankai!

The post was very long, and at the time I was making the post, I was rushing. Most of the spells are virtually the same and have the same exact effects, or they are basic offensive abilities. Plus you gave me still images from the anime for all of them, but no citation of any of the spells and when he used them.

Poor durability he says. This wouldn't harm her, and she is tougher than she looks, likely due to her magic resistances or personal shields.

Scans please?

Modified Hado – Jugeki Byakurai – Urahara created this spell in the sore purpose of fighting Aizen. This modified version of “white lightning” spell appears to be a red laser that Urahara is able to shoot at his target without any chants or incantations. The beam is small but has frightening level of piercing capacity, as it was able to pierce through semi-transformed Aizen’s hierro and his body all the way through in one shot. Another way Urahara can quickly execute Merlin from great distance sniper style, before she can cast ANY spell.

Again a citation please? So much important information, also from what I recall this was literally a sneak attack. Plus she will have knowledge on this.

He literally only used this once against Yammy, and it was in close quarters. Do you have any other showings for this technique? Absolute Cancel actually can be used at a range, Chandler proved this, and Merlin even did it herself in the video I showed above. Also this technique is apparently difficult to time according to Urahara.

Merlin either needs to touch it or lift a finger and the job is done.

Slow technique that usually catches people off guard, but Merlin will have knowledge on it, plus I doubt it will get through Merlin's barriers or perfect cube.

Bakudo 63 – Sajo Sabaku – Summons chains made of yellow light that hurl at the target, binding it tightly and severely restraining it’s movements. Another way to restrain Merlin on top of the previous spell.

Merlin could deflect it, or simply you know, dodge it.

Bakudo 75 – Gochu Tekkan – Summons five gigantic iron pillars connected with a chain that fall on the opponent, spreading him flat on the ground and pinning him down. Another way to restrain Merlin, though in all honesty this spell would likely kill, not restrain her.

It would literally never land, Merlin can stop it with telekinesis and simply chuck it at Urahara.

Magic Cancel, Absolute Cancel, or teleportation. Moving on.

Magic Cancel or Absolute Cancel should work. Magic Cancel isn't as potent as Absolute Cancel, but considering her feats it should work just as well against Urahara, and Absolute Cancel can be used at a range as I showed earlier. So the instant he tries to shield, Merlin capitilizes on that, negates his defenses, and he will get tagged.

Also if you don't mind, please post scans or cite the chapter, episode, ova or movie the feat came from, giving me a still image and a wall of text doesn't help.

This is useful against those who utilize only brute force, but why can't she simply use telekinesis to remove it? Or teleport out of it?

I don't recall him ever using this in combat, besides Merlin can basically do the same thing, but why do that when you can move around with a gesture? The Garganta takes way too long to open compared to Merlin simply snapping her fingers.

Well Aizen knew nothing about it. Merlin will.

Its a good thing Merlin will know about this and prepare countermeasures huh.

Other Counters

First of all, this. Gin was talking bullshit to Ichigo, which he himself pointed out, so saying he actually meant Mach 500 when talking about his bankai is just not true. Secondly, since data books talk about Ichigo being the speed of lightning as of his first bankai amp, this is obviously incorrect. Then we have the characters using light as weapons and other characters reacting to that, which I addressed. In other words, this is both an outlier if taken seriously that does not match with everything else shown in the series, and a straight lie even in the context of that line.

Obviously he didn't mean it, the point I was arguing is that, Mach 500 was apparently impressive, lightning speed is apparently normal for ichigo so it didn't make sense. Also I addressed the guidebook statement.

You are being very unfair here. Obviously you can't cut millions of petals each the size of a flower petal with one blade swing which is the size of a normal blade. You can cut a few of them, sure, but how do you cut down more than the blade can literally swipe with one swing? You can't.

In a weaker form, the shockwaves of his blows contributed to the destruction of a large city block. Good luck convincing me or anyone else that his swings couldn't swat away several petals with the right amount of force and considering how easily he did it? Child's play.

No they didn't look at the gif you posted. They are all clustered together anyway, and he seemed to be wildly swinging his sword even after most of them were gone.

No Caption Provided

Actually I think that since we're given both the time frame and a number of objects Ichigo cut down this is pretty insanely accurate and quantifiable giving that most anime feats don't give us a single measurable property to work with. Also I did give you other feats and calcs just in case you don't like that one :)

How is it "insanely accurate"? If Byakuya said something like "he precisely cut down all 1 billion blades" then I would have no argument, but all he said was something like "he cut down all of them." Lets say we have bowling pins right? If I threw the bowling ball at the pins, all of them would be knocked down specifically because it took up enough space, and had enough force to bring them all down at once and it was aimed at the right place. Its the same thing here. If you have blades so closely packed together, you cannot tell me he deflected each tiny one with his city block busting swings and his long sword, which would make it awkward to do so in the first place. That's absurd and it makes no sense, especially when you consider the huge gap between Bankai Ichigo and Byakuya. The other calc you made was such an absurd scaling fest that it couldn't possibly hold up and there seems to be contradictions anyway. I could probably find other calcs as well that people made to put Merlin on the same tier, but we wouldn't be going anywhere if we both put baseless calcs that aren't consistent with portrayal or consistent with their actual powerlevels and feats. I'll let the voters decide, if they think any of your calcs make sense or seem legit.

Galand was way faster than her during that stage of the series, at the point of the series he was blitzing literally everyone. Plus he had prior experience with teleportation spells.

So does Merlin, and she can make all her spells invisible, create illusions over them to make you think they are one type of attack, can make them impossible to sense, and can make them auto targetting, even a word will immediately get you hit. And she can keep this all going via infinity until your death. Plus homing spells get cucked by barriers.

Its too bad that stealth won't work against a character from a verse of fighters that can sense others from hundreds of miles away. Good try though.

Proof that he can use them? Just because he's intelligent doesn't mean he can go and add moves to his moveset otherwise I would be bringing up several feats I can scale off of that would immediately end this debate right now.

And I already proved that Bleach isn't any better than SDS regarding its speed problem, at the very least I can argue for an actual lightning attack in 6th chapter of the series. You're using a guidebook statement that explicitly says fast "like" lightning. Which isn't the same as fast AS lightning. And it proceeds to prove that the statement is hyperbole by saying "godlike speed" in the same text.....

You have nothing that Merlin couldn't account for, or at the very least counter in a combat situation and considering both combatants have knowledge on each other, there is literally no way to surprise one another. This isn't an actual manga/anime encounter, so its not like either player is going to bring in something brand new that the writers never shown in their series, to counter the other combatant. Based off everything I've shown, Merlin has more combat applicable techniques that are guaranteed to work than Urahara.

You're in check, try to get yourself out of it with your last post.

You're in check, try to get yourself out of it with your last post.

Am I? You’re the one who’s been dancing on thin thread the whole time, desperately trying to prove that Urahara’s overwhelmingly better stats, skills and spells somehow do not matter because Merlin is just SO GOOD at running away and hiding. Well your Merlin is going to finally run out of this steam with this final post. Let’s see how Urahara CRUSHES Merlin once and for all.

FINAL POST

No Caption Provided

"When you counter, you don't let them cut you. When you protect someone, you don't let them die. And when you attack, you kill."

Counters to speed argument

first off, the fact that she kept up with them immediately makes this entire argument null and void, you cannot negate it, you cannot say "oh she will struggle" there's no ifs and buts about it. Consistently,(the only anti-feat being Galan who I will address) Merlin has successfully reacted to every hostile threat that has come her way. She has only been tagged three times out of every single combat showing she has in the series and all of them, so you have no argument, you have no ground.

How adorable. So Merlin was tagged 3 times by characters far inferior to Urahara in speed, and this means that she won’t be tagged here in your opinion? Did you already forget the feat I posted at the very beginning, about Urahara making hogyoku Aizen a statue and dancing circles around him without him noticing when he set up his gigai and took his back before his very eyes>WHEN exactly did you post anything even remotely similar for Merlin OR any other characters you scale her to? You are the one who provided no argument, no ground, to prove that any of these guys who tagged Merlin are any faster than Urahara from what we’ve seen so far. You are the one who has nothing to say. You just try to buy time, it seems. I’m sorry, but the speed debate was dead end for you from the very start. Urahara won’t have any troubles tagging and blitzing Merlin, period.

This is simply not true. You just pointed out yourself, that guys like Meliodas have well balanced stats when it comes to magic and strength, so how do you exactly wanna prove to anyone that strength is unrelated to speed, when you are using a completely different and ergo unreliable, balanced example such as Meliodas, and on top of that, it’s not even common sens. Strength and speed and durability are all directly related, they are all physical stats of your physical body.

Can you have super-strong muscles, but no super-durability? No. Your own punch would break your arm, correct? So strength and durability are related, obvious. You need to at least be able to tank the force you are able to produce, every time you attack.

Can you have super-speed, but no super-strength or super-durability? No. If your body is capable of moving through the air ignoring the absolutely insane amount of friction and air pressure that super-fast movement would produce, you both need super-durable body that needs to survive those kinds of rapid accelerations and stops without hurting yourself, damaging your brain etc, but you also need the muscle power to get the job done in the first place.

The only scenario in which these rules do not apply involve some specific hax or magic. Durability of TK users like King can be enhanced with TK itself, for example. Or an abstract example regarding speed - Flash from DC is super-fast, but has only human durability. Why? Because his speed is not generated by his muscles, but by a cosmic force that inhabits his body. He is not actually producing the energy, nor does he suffer the natural physical consequences of his body moving at those speeds because of his speed force.

My point is, that unless you are able to specifically prove that Merlin is using her magic to make her body immune to consequences of moving at high tier speeds, or you prove that she is amping her speed to these Meliodas tiers in general, your argument is absolutely mute and makes no sens. It’s impossible for Merlin to be roughly at the street level of physical strength, but somehow have speeds relativistic to sound, or better yet, light, as you will soon try to actually argue below. This whole argument was as one sided as it possibly could form the start. Merlin is NOT in one tier with Urahara when it comes to general speed and mobility, and though her spell timing is impressive, it’s still nowhere near enough to compete here, and most certainly it doesn’t prove she is an overall speedster like you’re trying to make it sound.

It's kinda like showing Batman fighting alongside Superman and trying to prove that since Superman can move MFTL then Batman can too because here and here he reacts to him. They do not scale to eachother, at all, obviously, same goes for Meliodas and Merlin.

Huge difference is, Batman is clearly seen as inferior,

So is Merlin. That’s my point.

and I can find several different scans of superman or a similar tiered opponent blitzing him without him being able to respond whatsoever.

There are examples of Merlin being blitzed by higher strength tiers too, like the Galand feat. You yourself claimed that Galand is a pretty fodder brick for SDS standards, so if Merlin can get blitzed by this guy, you can’t save her with any other argument. Just because you mentioned it a couple times as her “only anti-feat” and such, doesn’t mean she can just get away with it in a CaV. It happened and I see no reason not to scale from this instance. Just like superman-tiers blitzing Batman happened. There are also many examples of Batman keeping up with said tiers, just like you can find these with Merlin. And yet, all that doesn’t change the fact that Batman IS a street level in physicals and is not immune to blitz, and it’s common knowledge based on the information we are given about him – For example, that he is HUMAN with no superpowers. We know this because it’s stated many times. So even if we see Batman suddenly reacting to superman-tier villain or something, we know it’s just PIS and an attempt to make Batman look cool rather than a statement about his stats. Same with Merlin. We were clearly told her physicals are low, and it’s her magical powers that are very high and competitive. So trying to scale her speed from SDS speedsters is just useless. This is completely not the case for Urahara, who is an incredibly powerful death god who are known to be speedsters and from having largely super-human physicals. If she has physicals on the level of 70, she has no business trying to compete with speedsters who have that level in multi thousand. This is my point.

Merlin is one of the strongest characters in the series.... Merlin clearly scales off of them, Batman for obvious reasons clearly doesn't scale off of superman.

“Merlin is one of the strongest” SO? Batman is one of the strongest overall too, right? That’s no argument. We have many characters including Superman saying he’s the most dangerous human on earth, he is the core member of the Justice League, the most powerful league of supernatural entities in DC multiverse, he has several storylines in which he proved that he is a global threat capable of single-handedly beating entire JL combined if he wants to. Endgame is a good example. He just pulls off some suit he made BY HIMSELF that was dusting in his garage called the “Justice Buster” or “Fenrir” and wrecks entire brainwashed and bloodlusted JL with it, while holding back as he didn’ try to kill them. Batman is not powerful? If he can solo bloodlusted JL, a team chuckfull of planet busters, while he’s holding back? Big joke. He is just a different kind of powerful. His technology and unique mind make him powerful. Just like Merlin is powerful because of her magic, not stats. That DOES NOT MEAN SHE SCALES TO OTHER HIGH TIER IN SPEED. Obviously. So just STOP with that silly reasoning already.

she doesn't need fantastic motor reflexes to do a cartwheel away from Urahara's attacks, all she needs to do is fly or teleport away,

To fly away, she needs to fly faster than Urahara’s shunpo, and she doesn’t. To teleport away, she needs to cast a spell faster than Urahara can tag her, and she can’t do that. And even if she manages to teleport, Urahara with his FTL mobility will be right there in her face, wherever she teleported, and he will be cutting her head off before she can snap her fingers again.

If she can react to an assault by simply casting a spell, or teleporting, or putting up barriers, whatever the case may be, why can't she simply repeat the process everytime she counterattacks?

I don’t think Merlin can dodge the first attack at all. I was just giving an example that even IF she would be able to dodge once, Urahara will follow up with another attack in the next fraction of a second, before Merlin can even process if she evaded the first attack or not.

Her mobility option is an instantaneous teleportation technique.

Which is known to not work even against characters far slower than Urahara. A joke argument, repeated throughout this CaV like a mantra and debunked by myself already. This is PROVED to not work every time. If Merlin was tagged 3 times by characters inferior to Urahara in speed and power, there is no reason why she wouldn't be eventually tagged here.

Or even teleport Urahara away?

Because Urahara is too fast. She magic cancels one of his beams and he already cast 10 of them. Urahara doesn’t need ANY casting time for many of his spells and abilities, especially shikai abilities that he can just spam from his sword like from a machine gun without saying a word. If she puts up a barrier, well Urahara can cancel it too, and before she can cast another, he attacks, because he is, again, much, much faster in every aspect. She teleport herself away, Urahara blinks to wherever she went instantly, and cuts her head off. When difference in speed tier is so great, there’s nothing Merlin can do, but eventually die.

Thanks for providing 3 more arguments, proving Merlin can be tagged and hurt by opponents with far inferior speed and dc to Urahara. This is only a further proof that Merlin can’t run forever and that eventually Urahara will just gut or incinerate her.

I’m not sure why you suddenly bring in striking, but that’s not impressive at all by Bleach standards. Urahara can create much bigger fissures in solid rock just by exerting his spiritual pressure against Ichigo’s.

No Caption Provided

In other words, without striking or any shockwaves, he creates that kind of damage with his sheer presence.

As I mentioned, he can also one shot two Captain class reigai, characters with easily mountain+ durability, with a single ability.

Both feats Urahara can accomplish with very casual effort, without using his most powerful spells or entering bankai, that multiplies his overall power by 10. In other words, a casual Urahara is more impressive than anything you’ve posted.

None of this even matters because of the strategy Merlin's going to pull anyway.

After reading that entire section, that calc is a bundle of multipliers and assumptions to a degree, especially with the properties of the attack.

There were no assumptions at all in my calc. Just feats and facts. I tried my best to be as accurate as possible. If you have anything concrete against my feats or facts I posted, you should’ve been specific so we could talk about it. Now since this is my final post, I guess it’s too late for that. I haven’t heard any reasonable arguments from you why this wouldn’t be valid. And even if we assume it's not very precise, it still clearly shows Urahara's speed is completely on a whole other level to any SDS character. Well all I can do now is just stand my ground since you have nothing to say to that.

By that reason couldn't I say Merlin is LS or beyond as well? Ark, the main technique of the Goddess clan, is created by light particles. And pretty much most techniques of the goddesses, like Ludo or Elizabeth are based off light.

If you wanna make an argument that Merlin is LS in speed, DO IT. Again, I don’t think it makes any sens in the context of her character, that is supposedly a human-like being with a fragile body but great magical power. It doesn’t make sens to me why she would be light speed. It makes sens to me how her body can ever tank the extreme conditions that would be strained on her if she attempted to go even as fast as MACH 10. A trained pilot can go through a seizure while going at speeds relativistic to sounds in a secure pod.

And you are telling me Merlin, clearly a human-like street level character can go at MACHXXX or hell, even lightspeeds? Then tell me how, why, and how does it make any sens.

Urahara can achieve this because his body is made of spirit particles that are known to be super-durable throughout the series and because he has a technique called shunpo that allows you to use superspeed. Some death gods tanked nuke and above levels of explosions and similar strains with their spirit bodies, so there is no reason why they wouldn’t be able to travel at great super-speeds if they have the means to do it like the shunpo technique. Anyhow, vague statements like those, which do not even scale to Merlin’s feats and make no sens in the context of her character in any way mean nothing. I gave you very specific examples of high tiers in Bleach utilizing LS and above movements, and Urahara in Bankai blitzing those tiers. It is an ABC logic, alright, but it makes sens in every way. Your statement doesn’t.

Ichigo’s top speed by the Blood War arc would be around 220,000,000 mph based off him being lightning speed (220,000mph) during the Byakuya fight (which was stated by the guide book)

Huge difference between like and as bro.

In this context there is no difference between like and as. Lightning has very measurable speed so if Ichigo’s speed is said to be like lightning, we can measure it very adequately. It also feats the context and his other feats. After all, in the same fight that this paragraph described Ichigo cut those billion petals from the sky in a 2 or so seconds. It’s clear that there’s nothing wrong with the quote.

The databook statement doesn't really prove anything,

Because you say so? Sorry, I think Kubo who either writes or approves those has the authority over your opinion.

plus right after it describes his speed as "godlike" which is very vague.

Godlike is not measurable. It’s just a term used to communicate to a reader that his level of speed is very, very impressive. This does not discredit a comparison to perfectly measurable speed of lightning at all. The only thing that’s vague here is your cheap attempts at lowballing anything I post that’s related to speed.

The lack of credibility on that alone destroys your whole calculation.

I don’t think any calcs you’ve provided this far were any more concrete to be honest. I realize that measuring speed is difficult in manga, anime and similar stuff in general. We are talking about fiction. The authors of fictional characters never really go through the trouble of giving an MPH stats of speed to any of their characters, so all we ever get is feat and statement based calcs like those. Just because mine are better than yours doesn’t mean they suddenly become irrelevant or not credible. Maybe it just means my character is faster than yours, and you should probably just start realizing it at this point.

Welll, first of all, calc for Ichigo’s speed did not include his bankai amplifier, so his speed is actually much better then I presented it when he’s at his peak. And secondly, there’s nothing wrong with Ichigo not being the fastest character in the series. Yoruichi, Urahara’s friend and rival in speed was always portrayed as faster than Ichigo and was stated many times to be the fastest character in the series. So though I wouldn’t claim Urahara is faster than Ichigo, I don’t think that even if we end up with that conclusion using a calc it’s a lore-breaking statement, if anything, it’s actually logical.

That’s not a contradiction at all. Your mobility and movement speed is usually a lot slower than your reaction speed, it’s only natural. There are people in real life who can dodge an arrow, and even catch it with their bare hands:

No Caption Provided

And yet, obviously, they can’t run as fast as an arrow, not even close. To the contrary, Lars above is a very poor sprinter and is physically rather unimpressive in general. In other words, some people have arrow level reaction speed, but are only capable of running many, many times slower than arrows either way. Similarly, mid-tier sternritters can dodge a FTL beam, but wouldn’t be able to move nearly as fast as it does, and neither would Ichigo because their reaction speed is simply much higher than mobility, which is simply natural. My whole point was, that Urahara can blitz characters far faster than those who are capable of reacting to FTL attacks. If he can do that, he sure as hell can blitz Merlin. In fact, it's an overkill... overblitz... yeah. that.

Also I only mentioned the Galan calc specifically for the sake of mentioning it, its not a reliable feat to use in debates currently. Similar to your calcs, there's contradictions and other variables that need to be taken into account.

None of your attempts to discredit my calcs got the job done. Not to mention the entire section you were on the defensive, non stop trying to lowball my statements and never providing your own. The conclusion is simple. Merlin is not as fast as you’d need her to be here. Well too bad. I won’t defend her for you. Urahara, which should be obvious at this point, is many, many times faster than Merlin in reaction speed, and in all other speed aspects such as combat speed, movements speed etc, he absolutely dwarfs her and can blitz here without too much trouble.

Counters to fighting skill & strength arguments

Just because Merlin usually happens to conveniently never come across an enemy who thinks about assassinating her from close range rather than engaging her in a magic duel, doesn’t mean Urahara has the same SDS mental handicap. He actually prefers going straight into CQC, so he will immediately utilize that advantage here, and when he does, Merlin is toast. Actually, Galand did attempt to assassinate Merlin by taking her back too, he even took a full swing at her and the only reason why she didn’t blow up into a million pieces right there, was because she had another wall character, slader shielded her in time. In this fight, she won’t have a benefit of anyone taking a hit for her when she screws up in countering a backstab.

I disagree.

Because she has high level senses, can create illusions to prevent you from tracking her, and can conceal her magic power just like Urahara????

You didn’t demonstrate any senses that helped her to NOT get assassinated before. You also didn’t demonstrate that it’s a common tactic for her to hide her presence under layers of illusions, hiding spells and etc. I think I saw all Merlin’s fights in the anime and manga at this point and this was never the case for her. Yeah she can use illusions etc. but she is seen fighting in the open without any shields and protective spells constantly. As for he senses, how exactly can she sens Urahara if characters with MUCH better senses couldn’t? For crying outloud, Aizen couldn’t sens Urahara’s attacks coming several times and this guy can fight entire Gotei 13, trying their best to defeat him with sneak attacks all at once without getting tagged once.

No Caption Provided

Plus she will have knowledge on his capabilities to do all this? Took her back? I mean that's a given considering he completely jumped out of the radius of her spell with raw speed and then rushed behind her, plus that was merlin prior to her development of infinity, along with the experimentation she did while Meliodas was MIA. As soon as she appeared to fight Grayroad, she was basically stronger and was ready to fight the commandments.

I can’t see how any of that is impressive. Commandments are very underwhelming when compared to high tier Bleach characters such as Urahara, in almost every aspect. Below I’ll presend a few feats that put Urahara far ahead in dc to Escanor (read my trump card section), and Escanor is the main DPS in the series while Urahara is supposed to be just average in dc in Bleach.

Once again, scaling Merlin to characters who aren’t nearly as impressive as Urahara means very little here. Not to mention that I have no idea how does any of that matter, since you have not provided a single way Merlin could actually hurt Urahara so far. And for the last time, she has no way to force a fight from a distance to begin with, because Urahara is way faster than her, so can get in range whenever he wants.

BTW she had to manually cast the spell after 10 seconds passed, meaning as soon as time was up she had to cast the spell before those two even managed to blitz him.

Well, there are spells that reveal illusions, like this one:

No Caption Provided

Secondly, all death gods have a special spiritual sens that allows them to track other beings, death gods, hollows and humans alike by their energy across large distances, even if they are not seen and tell apart the fakes easily. The only way to cheat a death god with illusion is to create an illusion that gives away it’s own fake spirit energy that’s indistinguishable to the original. I don’t think Merlin can do that with her illusions, at least from what you’ve presented so far.

No Caption Provided

Thirdly, Urahara has spells in his disposal that can cover a city-seized area in a large explosion. He can bust a thousand clones and the original at the same time with a single spell. A poor argument.

Counters to durability argument

Okay, I understand that. How does that allow her to hurt Urahara with his insane durability again? Didn't I show you tank energy blasts from hogyoku Aizen? HOW exactly does Merlin can possibly match or surpass Aizen in dc? Aizen's spells were said to warp space-time itself, and every tiny ability he was using was the size of a nuke.

No Caption Provided

Are you sure you wanna go there? You wanna try to prove Merlin can compete with that levels of dc and hurt Urahara? You better try WAY harder then this bro!

But I never said he was going to stand there and take it.

I don't really care that Urahara has better durability?

Well, I think our readers will care though. You know, because these two are basically fighting to death?

I mean I'm arguing that Merlin is beating Urahara in a fight, not arguing who is more durable and who has the better physical strength.

You constantly try to act like these stats do not matter at all. That’s just silly. These determine the verdict of the fights most of the time in every CaV.

That in itself doesn't matter, what matters is who is going to win and why, if you think it is because of that then argue as such and move on, don't constantly ask for a comparison of durability feats and strength feats if my main argument and approach is not a slugfest but essentially a hax vs hax showdown.

A hax vs hax showdown can take place here, but that doesn’t mean that Urahara can’t mix it with CQC and sneak attacks. To the contrary, he does it all the time in his fights. Like here, when he was fighting his fake regai clone, and used a behind the back blitz right after blocking an incoming spell, resulting in his win. And it’s likely what this will result in his win here too.

No Caption Provided

And yes she can bypass conventional durability, by literally creating weaknesses. Chandler and Cusack were incredibly well rounded, but they had elements that even they were susceptible to even if it was to a small extent. Merlin figured that out by analyzing them utilizing a spell called Double Impact.

This combined multiple elements together as one attack, and multiplied its effectiveness and strength, and she used it to figure out what attacks they are most resistant to and what attacks they are least resistant to.

Great! That’s very impressive. Well too bad that Urahara is INCREDIBLY resistant to stuff like that. You see, his most impressive fight is actually against Askin, a guy who kills you exactly the same way – by creating a weakness and exploitng it. He can make your own blood toxic for your body, or the air you breathe toxic to your lungs and he can increase how much toxic it is at will. And yet despite him being able to one shot Ichigo with this technique and him doing his best to kill Urahara with it, Urahara was able to have a full fight with him and ignore the effects of is ability for prolonged periods of time. If Askin couldn’t finish off Urahara by exploiting his weaknesses, I don’t think Merlin stands a chance with her Double Impact at all.

No Caption Provided

You're probably thinking "okay so what? Urahara will know she is capable of this and when it happens he will be able to counter it or offset or even negate it someway" Well, that's just it. Its not that simple.

She casted various magic spells to make her attacks harder to deal with, she made them invisible, imperceptible so you cannot sense their starting part or origin, auto tracking to automatically hit targets without her needing to move a finger in response to words and movement. So literally every step you make you will get hit.

Well Urahara has an excellent record of predicting enemy attacks just based on his insane intellect, experience and fighting instincts. Not to mention he has his insane speed an entire spellbook of defensive kido, including Danku that blocks invisible spells, bankai that can heal him if he is ever hurt and defensive shikai abilities to back him up. But it’s not really like it matters if Urahara can just tank anything you’ve shown Merlin can do so far.

If I have to be honest, I’d say Merlin’s dc is pretty much, a joke.

No Caption Provided

Like here, it’s treated like a gag, basically. She tags that guy a dozen times with her offensive elemental spells in the face and all he does is act like he’s stepped on a lego brick. And it's not like he is super-durabble, It's clearly far from noon and semi-bulky Escanor can just casually one shot this guy. Compare that to Urahara’s DC that I will sum up below and to all Urahara has tanked, and it becomes clear Merlin can not really hope to kill Urahara with her magic in a million years.

She doesn't even need to analyze Urahara's weaknesses to do this mind you, making her spells invisible or auto-tracking would be child's play. On top of already being capable of creating illusions to cause misdirection? That's checkmate.

First of all, no it’s not, because her dc is SO MUCH below Urahara’s durability it doesn’t matter. And secondly, he can hide and sneak attack her as well, He can create illusion of himself using his portable gigai, he has spells that are auto tracking as well etc. In other words, Urahara can replicate almost everything Merlin can do and treat her with her own medicine, while at the same time he has a LOT of much better spells in his disposal that Merlin simply doesn’t have.

What does that have to do with anything…? That’s not Merlin’s feat. Well, I guess that’s a habit for you at this point.

Gowther can tell the exact distance and location of an explosion with only his hearing.

Again, not Merlin’s feat…

Sensed a projectile coming towards their location and calculated the exact timeframe that it would arrive

Meliodas sensed a chimera near Margaret Liones that could turn itself invisible, and targeted it and destroyed it.

Can you please just stop with an essay of feats that are not Merlin’s and have nothing to do with this fight. She didn’t show that she is capable of replicating any of this.

Also Aizen was apparently able to detect and dodge his attack

He only did it because of his incredible reflexes. The sword was already literally inches from his back, At this point it could’ve been something as subtle as air movement that alerted Aizen of Urahara’s attack. He clearly was not able to notice or detect him beforehand when he was approaching him. Merlin has no reflexes on par with Aizen to repeat this feat. Also, this is not even Urahara in his prime or in bankai, which is the case here.

Counters to intellectual argument

Tessai, Urahra’s sidekick with can manipulate time and space with his spells. Hachigen, Tessai’s sidekick (in other words, a sidekick of a sidekick of Urahara) has ability to manipulate and reverse time with magic. Urahara is the most skilled, knowledgeable and the best magic user in his lore, period. Nobody has magic feats on par with this guy. And you are telling me that because infinity is time manipulation it will be too hard to counter for him? Give me a break. There’s another 10 or so characters who are skilled enough with magic in Bleach to get the job done. For Urahara this will be a piece of cake.

Tessai, Urahara's sidekick casually freezes time and manipulates space with a spell to save Gotei 13 members from becoming hollows
Tessai, Urahara's sidekick casually freezes time and manipulates space with a spell to save Gotei 13 members from becoming hollows

Tap into her weaknesses? I mean if he is going to spend time doing that, I doubt he will find time for deciphering anything else.

I’m just giving examples here. Either way, he will be able to produce a trump card that will be very effective against Merlin and will likely end the duel immediately if things won’t be happening his way throughout their duel.

???? Illusions of herself? I mean I literally showed scans of her casting an illusion of an army.

Yeah. An illusion of an army is not an army of herself. Let alone herself that are indistinguishable to someone as keen as Urahara. In other words, her doing that is completely out of character and too speculative to take into consideration.

Why couldn't she do something similar?

Because she never did that in the manga, anime or anywhere else? Also it’s not similar by any means to create a functioning army of your own clones, and creating a fake army of fodders. Obviously.

Im not gonna argue too much in this section, because you clearly acknowledge that Urahara is the smarter between the two.

You're asking me to elaborate on things that don't need elaborating, my argument above pretty much did all of that. You say Urahara can outsmart Merlin, that's great, how is he doing that?

For example, by predicting her next moves. I already proved he can do that, he is a master in this art. He anticipates, actions, events, attacks and table turns passively all the time as he fights.

No Caption Provided

Basic knowledge here means he knows what she is capable of doing, and his skill in predicting moves makes this fight an automatic chess mate. We’ve got the famous statement of him predicting 1000 steps ahead in combat.

No Caption Provided

Even if that statement is not as reliable, dude, think - if he knows or correctly predicts even just ONE Merlin’s next step, he can kill her without any effort. For example. He predicts where is she gonna teleport to, when she teleports and sends a homing spell there. Merlin teleports – BOOM a spell roasts her face off. There are millions of possibilities. Merlin has no way of countering that.

What is his approach? Tell me what is he going to do?

Because your strategy from what I can understand is literally him assassinating Merlin somehow.

I gave you many ways how this can go down before. I’m not really feeling like repeating myself to that extent. My point in this section simply was, that Urahara is smart enough to outmaneuver Merlin in a fight. If he will be predicting her next spells, he will always made a correct counterspell in time. If he will be predicting her movements, he will be always able to tag her as she disengages. If he will be predicting her general tactic on how she is gonna try to kil him, he can counter it. It’s as simple as that.

Counters to magic argument

Let me just start by saying that although I think Merlin is a very powerful mage, it's rather clear from what you've shown that she lacks in both DC and hax to really compete with Urahara in a magic battle. Unless you hide some trump card spell for Merlin, I don't think the two spells you listed are really gonna be a factor.

Already posted what I needed for Merlin to win this fight. I only mentioned the two spells to show variety. I could easily scale her magic to mountain level if not beyond in terms of potency if necessary, but that's not the main thing that will win her the fight.

Please, don’t be silly. From what you’ve shown so far, Merlin’s spells are barely building level in potency and have no way of hurting Urahara. Merlin’s spells do little to NO environmental damage and are rarely doing any serious damage to her enemies. Time and again we see her playing a support and hax role in combat, while other characters do all the actual dc.

Even if you were right, he doesn't use Senkaimon's in combat.

Other death gods use sudden dimensional crossing techniques in combat all the time in Bleach and Urahara can do this as well.

No Caption Provided
No Caption Provided

Yeah, Urahara in particular didn’t do it, because there was simply no reason for him to do it in his fights. But he proved he can use many different kinds of garganta, senkaimon and others, and these were used in combat many times, so yeah, he can obviously do it. It’s like me saying Merlin will not use Absolute Cancal on Urahara because we never saw her use it on anyone with a hat. Let’s not be silly.

Plus Senkaimon's don't open up that fast,

What? They open instantly. Characters literally CUT right through it. Yeah there are some versions of the dimension doors that require an incantation, but like I said, we only ever saw Urahara made that kinda ritual to open the gate once, later we see him prepare senkaimon instantly without saying a word many times so he can totally do it without any extra time needed. Just like many other characters, he is just able to cross dimensions instantly, even for a surprise attack if he wants to.

so the instant one opened up in perfect cube Merlin can teleport him back in.(with the knowledge she would have this would be even easier.)

Merlin tagging Urahara with teleport is very unlikely, considering he is far faster than Galand, can predict her moves and has counter spells.

And if she used it to protect herself, and he tried to enter, she could just escape with teleportation.

Again, if she was faster then him she could probably do it. She’s not, so…

?????? Restructure reality? Can you post more scans in relation to the bankai please?

Dude you only comment on Urahara’s bankai when I’m in my last post? That’s just low. I said in my first post that Urahara’s bankai is reality manipulation and provided proper scans and examples of what it can do. You said nothing. Now that you’ve made no counter arguments to it, you leave me no choice but to just assume you have no counter to Urahara’s bankai. Which was pretty predictable. Another reason why Urahara wins this fight rather easily.

Urahara knows the range of the spell and the activation speed as well, so that’s no argument. Also, Shinigami of high spiritual energy can ignore abilities and sealing techniques of Shinigami with lower power without any troubles, so actually Urahara will be able to just negate Merlin’s energy with his own by that logic, simply because he is more powerful. If we go further into this logic, we arrive right at the possibility of Urahara being able to paralyze and even crush Merlin with his sheer spirit energy. If the difference between power is too big in Bleach, one character can just passively freeze kill the other, it's called a reiatsu-crush.

No Caption Provided

I'd say Urahara won't have too much trouble both negating Merlin's curses and techniques with his sheer power and even reiatsu crushing her. Not that he needs to do it tbh.

so even if we assume that the Curse would work fine on Urahara, he can always dodge it.

Good luck dodging literally every spell that will be invisible, impossible to perceive or sense, and that auto-track your

He has his own illusions, countermeasures to invisible spells like Danku, his defensive spells, counters spells and his insane speed. Not to mention, he has ability to predict Merlin’s attacks with his genius strategic intellect.

every move.

Yes she would because the spell would have to gain entry. If teleportation couldn't work, the bakudo spells aren't working. Plus she can teleport away from them if they are coming towards her. I don't think you realize how much of a solution Perfect Cube and Teleportation are in this matchup.

I do, but unless Merlin is faster then Bleach high tiers she can not dodge those neigh instant bakudos in time. Like I said, some spells simply wrap you up or paralyze your every muscle and bind you instantly, giving you ZERO time to teleport away. If Merlin would be teleporting away she would be teleporting already with the spell that’s binding her. She just can’t make it in time. Not even guys like Aizen can dodge spells that are literally made of light and bind you immediately, like Rikujokoro.

you'll fine time, I'd also be thankful for some more counters to the spells and zanpaktou abilities I mentioned.

I think you'll find all the proper citation you need for a spell that her one shot Merlin in my trump card category. So if these were not enough for you, that will probably do the trick. It's even got a nice calc and all. You'll like it!

Poor durability he says. This wouldn't harm her, and she is tougher than she looks, likely due to her magic resistances or personal shields.

We disagree on that. I don’t think you shown enough of Merlin’s durability to prove she is immune to level 30 offensive spells. These are strong enough to seriously injure an espada level arrancar, even when cast by a noob such as Renji:

No Caption Provided

Scans please?

There:

Here is kido of 90's level one shotting Kommamura, a captain known for particularly high durability

No Caption Provided

Kommamura was in the center of this explosion for example, and all it did was give him a nose bleed lol:

No Caption Provided

Here is Yamamoto trying to kill Aizen, who has many mt+ level durability feats (I guess just go to his respect thread for those, I really think we're getting off topic and I don't want to spam), with kido of 90's level, believing it can kill him (hogyoku saved him though)

No Caption Provided

Here is Aizen explaining that he "no longer" has to dodge kido of 90's level, clearly stating that before he would have to dodge them as they are a threat.

No Caption Provided

Citation for what? Lol. Here’s a full scan.

No Caption Provided

The spell did go through Aizen’s hierro. It’s legit. Also she has knowledge, so what? Are you saying that knowing that a person you are going to fight has a gun makes you immune to guns? How exactly is Merlin countering a spell this powerful that can be shot without a warning, from the shadows, instantly sniping her down? No argument, ofc.

He literally only used this once against Yammy, and it was in close quarters. Do you have any other showings for this technique?

He was kinda close, but it’s because Yammy was close when he was casting his ability. Urahara didn’t touch him, so obviously he doesn’t have to get into CQC to use it. Most Merlin spells were used only once too. How does that change anything? The spell works perfectly and Urahara clearly says he can do it with ANY reiatsu-based, so in this case, magic-based ability.

Absolute Cancel actually can be used at a range, Chandler proved this,

Are you seriously saying that we are going to have a debate over every spell now wether or not it can be used at range if it just so happened to be used at close range when they were first used? How desperate. Please don’t be silly. Bleach characters simply use magic in CQC sometimes without bothering to gain any distance because they don’t want to give their opponent time to dodge. Many spells have been used from up close, but we clearly see they can be used at any range. That’s no argument. Again, please tone down with the lowballing.

and Merlin even did it herself in the video I showed above. Also this technique is apparently difficult to time according to Urahara.

Well, he can still do it, right? So… what’s your point?

Merlin either needs to touch it or lift a finger and the job is done.

Why does she lift her fingers all the time to cast spells if she doesn’t have to do it? Lol.

No Caption Provided

Bakudo 61 – Rikujokoro – Summons six beams of light that instantly strike an opponent from all sides. The light beams completely petrify the target, making it unable to move a muscle or cast any spells. A great way to pin Merlin down so she won’t be ready to use her hands or chant, her summons or her orb and any of her gadgets will also be useless when this hits her.

Slow technique that usually catches people off guard, but Merlin will have knowledge on it, plus I doubt it will get through Merlin's barriers or perfect cube.

How is it slow if characters such as Aizen and Yamamoto couldn’t react to it? I mean I posted the Aizen gif above but actually in BOTH cases they were informed that the spell is coming with an incantation that they could hear and still couldn’t dodge in time. It’s obvious that spell is super fast, it’s actually beams of LIGHT that bind you here, so yeah, go figure. Aizen and Yamamoto clearly have knowledge on these too, and it didn’t help. Merlin ain’t dodging this.

Bakudo 63 – Sajo Sabaku – Summons chains made of yellow light that hurl at the target, binding it tightly and severely restraining it’s movements. Another way to restrain Merlin on top of the previous spell.

Merlin could deflect it, or simply you know, dodge it.

Like in the case of previous spells, it’s not happening. The chains are homing to you and no character has escaped them in the series before, and we have many characters far faster than Merlin in there, many of which can teleport as well.

Then Urahara can just cast another spell or shield, you know? These things take a fraction of a second to cast. I mean absolute cancel is a spell just like danku. So if Urahara casts Danku and Merlin counters with Absolute Cancel, he just counters again with another Danku, or another spell shield and it’s a spell for spell situation, it evens out. If you are seriously suggesting that Merlin would, for example, cast a fireball, then when Urahara puts up a Danku she would “Cancel” it in order for fireball to hit, then MAN, that’s some slow-ass fireball if Merlin is capable of saying “Absolute Cancel” inbetween shooting it and it hitting Urahara. In that case, Urahara would likely just dodge the thing, I mean, why would he even need to cast a shield to block something that slow.

This is useful against those who utilize only brute force, but why can't she simply use telekinesis to remove it? Or teleport out of it?

It’s a seal. It seals your magic power completely and you are not able to chant any spells with it, even those that do not require gestures and words. Ichigo, Aizen, Kensei and many other characters were sealed by this cloth before and couldn’t use any of their abilities. This will be a very effective spell against Merlin tbh.

No Caption Provided

Kyujurokkei Kakafumetsu – The seal Urahara used to conceal Aizen in his most powerful form. This spell can be hidden in another spell and shot at the opponent without warning. It will later activate whenever the enemy is weakened, sealing him off completely and leaving him hopeless in a cross shaped statue.

Its a good thing Merlin will know about this and prepare countermeasures huh.

Like what? Could you be more specific?

Other counters:

It maybe was impressive back in KTarc but if we’re talking about EOS version of the characters, these speeds obviously were not impressive anymore. Not to mention that Ichigo was able to react to that supposed Mach 500 attack, so I see no problems here.

There were no shockwaves involved in swiping those petals away. Ichigo did it with his sword. And it was clearly the fact that he was able to do it with his speed was what impressed Byakuya. If Ichigo did it with shockwave from his sword, first – we would’ve seen the shockwaves, second – there would be no reason this would be impressive to Byakuya. Every Shinigami can produce shockwaves strong enough to blow away some flower petal sized things. Thirdly – It wouldn’t be shown to use in the context of Ichigo’s speed, and it clearly was, seeing how Byakuya said that he was able to do it because “your bankai gave you unimaginable speeds”. Nice attempt at lowballing though.

No they didn't look at the gif you posted. They are all clustered together anyway, and he seemed to be wildly swinging his sword even after most of them were gone.

Because he had to knock them ALL down? And there were billions of them? So even after knocking most of them he obviously still had swing until ALL of them were down. If he didn’t do that, like I said, even a single petal could’ve cut to his heart and killed him.

Galand was way faster than her during that stage of the series,

Are you saying that Merlin somehow improved her physicals throughout the series? HOW? WHEN did she do any workout? WHO trained her? Her magic power and knowledge could’ve grown certainly, but physical stats? Get out of here.

at the point of the series he was blitzing literally everyone. Plus he had prior experience with teleportation spells.

So does Merlin, and she can make all her spells invisible

Danku blocks invisible spells. Moving on.

, create illusions over them to make you think they are one type of attack

Urahara can create his own illusions with gigai. And all of his spellshields are universal so her switching her spells makes no difference to him.

, can make them impossible to sense,

Urahara can predict them though, or just tank them.

and can make them auto targetting,

Not a problem for someone who can spellshield.

even a word will immediately get you hit. And she can keep this all going via infinity until your death.

None of that would result in his death, it’s far too weak to affect him at all.

Plus homing spells get cucked by barriers.

Some of those are too fast, basically instant so she won’t have time for barriers.

Its too bad that stealth won't work against a character from a verse of fighters that can sense others from hundreds of miles away.

Which is something that Merlin never did herself. Not to mention sensing an attack from miles away doesn’t equal sensing a silent, magically hidden and super-stealthy assassin.

Good try though.

Yeah, good try!

My final trump card:

Now, since we are about to wrap this up, let me unveil my trump card spell that I was holding, in case you pull something ridiculously overpowered from SDS that I haven't heard about. Well, nothing like that really happened... but Imma put all my card on the table anyway.

Though Urahara has many powerful techniques, and like I previously stated, his bankai IS his greatest weapon because of it's versatility, hax and because of how useful it is, he does have a spell that's even more powerful then his bankai in sheer dc, and that will be particularly effective on Merlin for many reasons, that being Hado #99 - Goryūtenmetsu.

No Caption Provided

Hado 99 is the most powerful spell in the Bleach lore. It summons 5 dragons made of pure energy that swallows all nearby reiatsu/magical energy and feeds on it, destroying everything in sight or protecting it's caster, whatever he wishes them to do. So far only one person in the manga has used it - EOS Aizen in his fight agianst Yuha Bach. In the novel however, Urahara used the spell as well.

Very toned down calcs like this one (the full quote from the Novel of Urahara using it is also there): https://vsbattles.fandom.com/wiki/User_blog:Ovy7/Urahara_Hado_99_calcput even a single dragon that is created with Hado 99, at the level o f 276.3 giagatons, or 276,300 megatons which means all 5 of them would be 1,381,500 megatons, almost 46,050 times more powerful then TZAR bomb, the most powerful nuke humanity has ever tested.

Even a single megaton nuclear bomb is capable of atomizing a few square miles, creating a blazing tornado of fire covering over a 100 square miles, and sending shockwaves of death and destruction throughout half a continent. An attack over a 46 THOUSAND times more powerful should be considered a planetary life-wiper, or at LEAST a continental threat, with ability to directly bust to nothingness a multi-country chunk of our planet.

Why is this spell important?

- Obviously, Merlin can not survive this spell if she is hit with it. It's a LARGE overkill to anybody in current SDS lore.

- With this spell being so powerful as LARGE at AoE as continent level, Urahara can cast it from very far away and still blast her from existence.

- This spell is far more powerful then anything Merlin's barriers has ever tanked. It is not rational to believe ANY barriers from SDS lore can survive this attack, even Perfect Cube, which simply lacks feats to tank anything even close in power, so Merlin can not defend from this spell with barriers.

- An attack so large and powerful that it can bust a continent is obvioulsy also MUCH larger in AoE then Merlin's teleport, which can only cover a few miles as far as I'm aware. Not only Merlin can not shield from this spell, but she also can't teleport far away to get out of it's reach.

- This spell consists of 5 completely separate dragons that will all attack and act as their caster commands. In other words, Urahara won't shoot it at Merlin like a fireball, but can precisely and cleverly steer them using his tactical genius to the fullest. He can cast them while being far away from her and without her knowledge. He can also separate the dragons, making it impossible for Merlin to dispel all of them at the same time. Merlin has also never dispelled magic this powerful, so I can't see an argument being made that she can do it. In short, Merlin will not be able to cancel this spell because she lacks feats of dispelling magic this ridiculously OP, and because it can be used so cleverly, for example, it can attack her from all sides at once, and at a time she will be busy doing something else.

- This spell not only destroys, but can be also used to protect Urahara from hostile spells. Hado 99 actually ABSORBS incoming magic. So if Merlin would be to attack Urahara with any spell, the dragons will eat her magic, and become even more powerful.

- Urahara can actually cast this spell instantly, without incantation or any warning, which is a great asset, because he can use it at any time, and Merlin's knowledge on it's existance will not help her to predict it and react in time.

- Since BFR is allowed here, Urahara if he so chooses doesn't even have to aim the spell at Merlin and restrict the blast to a small radius, but can just detonate it beneath his feet and explode the entire battlefield and a continent worth of landmass around it, destroying Merlin, all of her supposed clones, barriers or anything else she could've possible put up while he himself can just cross dimensions with a senkaimon or garganta to not get caught in his own blast.

Why Urahara wins?

The reason why Urahara wins this battle is simple. Urahara is better in every contested category that we debated over in this thread. These being:

Speed - Urahara is faster then Merlin in all aspects. As he is capable of blitzing characters that can be scaled to FTL reaction feats and even make Aizen a statue with his portable gigai feat, he is proved to be more consistent and more impressive in his reaction feats, combat speed and overall mobility. Speed advantage is a MASSIVE one for Urahara. With it, he can avoid being tagged with spells and sealed/teleported away, he can shower Merlin with continuous rain of attacks and spells that she won't be able to keep up with, go for surprise attacks and blitz, and much more. Though my opponent argued over every feat and calc I presented, he himself still failed to provide any feats direct for Merlin that would've been as impressive.

Fighting skill & Strength - Urahara is not just a mage, he is a fighter, an assassin, and a physical powerhouse, and even my opponent agreed, that if Merlin ever gets in a CQC fight with him, she is a one dead deadly sin, and simply opted to argue that Merlin will never, ever allow Urahara to get close. With Urahara's skill as an assassin far exceeding anything we've seen in SDS though, as well as with Urahara being able to match Merlin in her magic game and having a large edge in speed, it's very unlikely that Merlin will be able to pressure him enough to force her rules in this matchup. Urahara, using his gadgets, spells, overwhelming speed and unique, magically enhanced stealth will be eventually able to get in CQC with Merlin, and when he does, it is obvious beyond a shadow of doubt, that he will one shot Merlin with his swordsmanship or H2H skill and power.

Durability - I believe my opponent failed to present any substantial arguments proving that Merlin can get around Urahara's durability and actually hurt him. Urahara was able to resist incredible displays of hax from Askin and sheer power from hogyoku-Aizen, (both of which are known for one-shotting the main protagonist of the series, Ichigo, who is Meliodas's known CV rival) without receiving mortal wounds, while Merlin remains very short in feats when it comes to her dc, which leads me to a fair conclusion, that she lacks the necessary means to seriously injure, let alone kill Urahara. On the other hand, Merlin's durability falls short from Urahara's amazing displays of power. The enormous gap between the two proves, that if one of these two is to be killed the other, it can really only happen one way around.

Magic - I think I proved Urahara is by far the more accomplished mage between these two characters. Having a large repertoire of offensive, defensive and utility spells up his sleeve with far better feats then Merlin's, on top of having a magical sword that can warp reality and a ton of haxy gadgets, Urahara remains for the most part uncontested here. My opponent left many of Urahara's most powerful abilities without a comment, including his bankai, clearly dodging the subject, as it is in fact Urahara, who is more versatile and more powerful when it comes to magic between the two. In a direct exchange of spells between Urahara and Merlin, Urahara will be overpowering Merlin's spells barriers and offensive spells with his incredibly devastating Juzutsunagi and hado 99, effectively shielding from her magic with his barriers such as his blood mist shield, tangling her with endless chains of bakudo spells such as rikujokkoro and bakudo 99, cancelling out her magic with Tsupanne and blocking her invisible spells with Danku, and most importantly, healing himself from any harm if need be, and warping reality on Merlin's ass with his bankai. Urahra's arsenal leaves Merlin completely overwhelmed and overpowered.

Intellect - Finally, Urahara holds an incredible advantage in this fight when it comes to his intellect and battle genius. I proved that Urahara is not just your average "clever" fighter but actually a legit battle genius, who constantly plays on your emotions, doesn't hesitate to resort to any unfair strategies and who drains you into game of layers over layers of bluffs. Even Aizen lost the mind game against Urahara, and Merlin is a poor contender in this field. He is capable of predicting his opponents moves at the large scale beforehand, countering even the most powerful magic in the lore in a matter of short moments, and creating countermeasures on the fly. Given prep and knowledge on Merlin, Urahara is sure not just to overpower Merlin, but actually outsmart her too, luring her into activating spells that he prepared countermeasures for, providing counters to her most powerful abilities and setting a clever trap for her by using spells and abilities in creative ways she is not prepared for.

Because of these 5 core advantages that Urahara holds in this matchup, I declare him a winner of this fight.
