Carnage can't catch Orochimaru to put him down andOrochimaru is unlikely to kill Carnage due to his crazy regeneration. Still haven't read the last big Carnage event so he definitely got some upgrades I'm not aware of. Orochimaru can put him down long enough for the fight to be over at least.

What makes you say Carnage can't 'catch' him?
Orochimaru is a very evasive fighter and massively faster than Carnage. He was able to avoid lethal blows from 3 tail Naruto. Naruto pre-skip was almost as fast as Sasuke who was able to outspeed Gaara's sand that was catching explosions for him when he was six years olds.
Pretty huge mismatch, Orochimaru has a plethora of ninjutsu to ragdoll, torture, or kill him with apart from being practically unkillable for Kasady as well as the gap in speed which makes it hard for them to even engage in what resembles a fight.
