if you give a mortal in the DBZ world Goku ki they would be as strong as goku, have his Power level but their body is still the same, as long as they dont use ki to cover themselves their durability is the same as an ordinary person, it means if they get caught of guard or a point in their defense that is not covered in KI anything that can injure an ordinary human can injure a being capable of destroying a universe, this is why Kienzan/Destructo Disk is so hax because it makes Ki barriers literally useless thus bypasses all durabiliy in the DBZ world because the fighters themselves cannot physially block it when their ki is ignored.
for example goku cannot enter lava/magma without covering himself in ki because his own physical body cannot withstand that damage thus you hae the instances like goku getting injured by rocks, and even lasers and many instances in DBZ, DBZ power level= KI, Body power is not measured in DBZ universe because the only way to cultivate it is via Gravity and even saiyans have their limit.
The east understand this more than the West, more people just think goku is strong without understanding how the power structure even works, read some Wuxia novels and it would be easy to understand how KI or internal Force is applied.

Its a good representation on what would have happened though. In Ressurection of F, goku let down his ki shields for a second and he got pierced by a laser(maybe it was special, but a laser is a laser)
