Brainiac is really powerful but if Barry was serious or Bloodlusted I can see him winning via Speed Force Dump (BFR) or possibly Phasing.

Brainiac inevitably wins.

I don't see an in-character Barry winning this unless he really lets loose.

Considered how they usually fight in character, I'd say Brainiac.

Brainiac has not shown any feats to suggest that he can tag the Flash. I will see if I can post something.

Not really relevant given the version specified in the OP, beat. Also, that was retconned into not being Brainiac in the first place.

@ouroborik: There is a brief fight between Superman and Brainiac in Action Comics #868-869. Brainiac is temporarily incapacitated for a few pages due to Superman severing the cable that connected him to his bio-shell, but gets back up shortly after.

There is another brief skirmish later in #869-870. Brainiac proving himself strong enough to catch an enraged Superman's punch and bring him to his knees by crushing his fist. Superman eventually punches him away and scorches his eyes with heat vision, but Brainiac soon recovers.

He is defeated by being punched out of the ship and into a swamp, with the bacteria sending him in a panicked state for Superman to kick him down while he's disoriented.

The same version appeared in R.E.B.E.L.S. and Adventure Comics (where he faced Conner Kent). I'll post more scans tomorrow.

Contrary to what his name might imply, he's essentially an incredibly strong and highly durable, yet slow moving brick.

@morpheus_: really? When was it retconned. I stopped reading anything Superman related a few months after death of supeman. The whole 4 superman replacements drove me mad (though I kept up with Steele for a while).

Obviously I saw him in rebels.

Honestly dont even know why I get tagged in every Brainiac thread. I think someone has crossed wires over the "Brainiacs" I'm knowledgeable on (which would 2, 3, or 5 - Vril II, Lyrl, or Querl)

@beatboks1: Geoff Johns retconned every Brainiac appearance in his Action Comics run. Every encounter until that story has been a clone or probe. Supergirl mentions it to Superman, and later on Brainiac himself confirms it by stating he has not awoken in over three centuries.

@ouroborik: I wouldn't go that far, but thank you. :)

I'm really not a fan of Geoff Johns retconning every Brainiac appearance and building up the existence of a single one, more powerful than all the other, only to then have the original Brainiac being defeated by Superman...I mean, with all that build-up he should have made the original Brainiac into a Galactus (or at least Thanos) level powerhouse, not just an average Superman villain :(

@ouroborik: Brainiac's power is in his mind, him having nigh-Superman level physical attributes was just a perk to me. Also, a good portion of his menace is derived from the ship he built. In his first encounter with Superman, he made a sun go supernova, destroying multiple planets and knocking out Clark before capturing him. He was a good villain and for all intends and purposes, one of the most terrifying figures in Kryptonian culture due to killing hundreds of Kryptonians and bottling Kandor. Supergirl spoke of him like the boogeyman that kept children awake at night.

Making him Thanos or Galactus level would elevate him at a degree far beyond Superman and you'd require a multitude of characters to challenge him, let alone stop him, so I'm content Johns did not overdo it. And eventually DC did go down that route with an overpowered Brainiac in Convergence.

@morpheus_: Does the Brainiac in Convergence have good feats? It seems like an almost impossible to understand event, from what I've read, too much multiversal confusion. (You don't need to make a very elaborate explanation if you don't want to :))

@morpheus_: it seems the point made is that they didnt do anything to make him anymore of a threat than the previous Braniac "clones". If you are going to make such a declaration of superiority, you should definitely back it up, but the current Braniac has largely been relegated to a similar position that he has always occupied.

@morpheus_: Thanks for posting scans of Brainiac's fights from Johns' Action Comics arc. I bet your post will be a really useful reference for future Brainiac threads @life_without_progress is bound to make.

@JBobGlass: He had an important role in the New Krypton storyline, but since control was delegated from Johns to other writers, it would be unreasonable to expect Brainiac to be the focal point. Then DC rebooted their universe, so this version simply does not exist anymore.

They could be, particularly since I strategically omitted posting Lex Luthor snapping his neck during the Black Ring. :P
