Billy Hargrove (Stranger Things) replaces Daniel Larusso in the Karate Kid. What will change?

Premise: Instead of Hawkins, Billy Hargrove moves to the Valley with his father and stepmom (no Max). After being invited to a beach party, he starts flirting with a girl named Ali then gets his ass kicked by some blonde guy. A series of events later, he gets ambushed by a whole group of them on Halloween before getting rescued by Mr. Miyagi. Billy then finds himself having to train for a karate tournament.

What changes in the movie? What changes to Billy and the cast?

Guidelines:

1. Assume that Billy pursues Ali, which he most likely will. She might be put off from his nature.

2. Billy and Johnny, two alpha males, have a rivalry.

3. Miyagi's teachings get through Billy's heart.

​ To me I thought this premise would be interesting in the sense that someone like Billy could achieve redemption. Seeing as how no little sister for him to terrorize here and no bullying her friends , there’s potential.

Billy’s size alone would be a hard counter to Johnnys karate

@allstarsuperman: How do you think he would do against the Cobras in the tournament with Miyagi's training?

Assume that he stays for the whole duration of it, and Miyagi's teachings reach his heart

Why would it be a hard counter when I think they are roughly the same size to begin with? Billy might be bit stronger but not enough for it to be a hard counter to Johnny having years of training and fighting experience.

Well if he is being cast in the movie then he wins because its his story to win at the end with the crane kick.
