It's that time of the week. Time to look at the latest edition of Best Battles in New Comics. Comics often feature big battles with superheroes fighting supervillains. Sometimes we even have superheroes fighting other superheroes. Get ready to cheer and possibly cringe at the brutal punches being thrown.
It was another close week. Sadly one book got knocked out at the last minute.
INJECTION #2
(By Warren Ellis, Declan Shalvey, Jordie Bellaire)
Simeon Winters is a strategist. He's also a secret agent. You can pretty much say he's a guy you do not want to mess with. As he moves in on his target, he knocks on the door. You'll think twice about using a peephole from now on.
Once he makes his way inside, he goes after the main target. There's absolutely no hesitation and he knows where everyone is supposed to be from their surveillance.
Do things always go according to plan? Of course not. It turns out, somehow, someone else was inside. I big someone else. The fight moves across the place and into the kitchen. If you think about that, you know there's all sorts of things that could be used there.
Unfortunately, Simeon gets hit from behind.
He still gets a chance to use the knife he just picked up. Luckily he kept a tight grip on it.
Things are getting pretty nasty. Is Simeon prepared to get out of this one alive? The rest is pretty brutal so you'll want to see it for yourself.
RED HOOD/ARSENAL #1
(By Scott Lobdell, Denis Medri, and Tanya Horie)
The Outlaws have sort of broken up. Roy Harper, Arsenal, is on a stake out on his own. It turns out a U.S. Senator has been kidnapped by a drug cartel. Some "negotiations are about to go underway to get him back. Roy knows things are going to go poorly and ends up having to jump in himself.
Using a couple different types of arrows, Roy catches everyone off guard. He blows up a car and then clouds the area so no one can see him coming.
He is dealing with some pretty bad guys. It's hard to say just how sharp and pointy some of his arrows are. That does look like some blood and pain going on.
But Roy doesn't just use sharp regular arrows to take down the criminal scum. He has more fancy high tech arrows at his disposal.
But you know what, things take a bit of a turn after this point. And where the heck is Jason Todd? His name is also on the book?
CHRONONAUTS #4
(By Mark Millar, Sean Murphy, and Matt Hollingsworth)
What do you do when your trapped in the 1500s by an evil general and have the authorities from the present searching for you through time while your best bud is about to get killed? You find a way to get reinforcements, especially when you can find some from across time. Corbin Quinn is a smart and sneaky guy. He'll find a way to make you sorry you ever saw him.
Making his way across several time periods, he amasses a huge army. Corbin likes to put on a show. Obviously there's easier ways to save his friend but this is the route he takes.
After a preliminary battle, the action really kicks in. I love this two-page spread so much.
With all this flashy explosions and destruction, he still hasn't saved his friend. So why not get a fighter jet from some point in time?
Is all this enough to save Danny? Is it too much? This books is pretty nuts, in a good way. I envy those that haven't read the four issues yet since that means you have so much to enjoy.
