Battle of the Week: Gladiator vs Supergirl

Match Rules

• Combatants are in character.
• This is a random encounter (no prep for either side).
• Both characters have standard gear/equipment
• They're fighting on empty planet Earth
• No Power Upgrades and amps unless they are permanent.
• Earth 616/Prime Marvel Universe Gladiator.
• Post-Crisis/New 52/Rebirth Supergirl.
• Incapacitation, knockout, or death all count as elimination. Making a tactical retreat counts as a loss, too. "What's a tactical retreat?" It's leaving the fight with the intention of not returning to the battle in the immediate future. Going to another spot in the environment to catch your breath for a moment or two or for a tactical advantage is not a tactical retreat.
• No Battle Field Removal (BFR)
• Treating everyone else in the debate with respect is a sign of a good debater. If you think someone's saying something that just isn't true, go ahead and stick to the facts to point out why. There's no need at all to drop insults just because you disagree with someone. This is just talking about a fictional fight, there's no need for immaturity and mudslinging about fan fic.
• If you think the poll isn't going how it should, making an informative post about why a character is being underestimated and spreading the word is far more useful than complaining.
• One more thing: you don't need to write an essay to have your post highlighted in Friday's article. Sometimes concise posts can be way more effective than a flood of paragraphs.

Gladiator should win this in a good fight.

Gladiator is a baaaad mutha-*BLEEEEEP!* Ain't gonna lie.

And if I read a story with him beating Kara, I would not scream and holler in protest, because such an outcome is more than possible.

But I think Supergirl has a slightly better chance of winning, because

Supergirl has done THIS to Solomon Grundy

Grundy gives the whole JSA problems, and has team busted the JLA

Kara has also done THIS to Doomsday

---so, for that reason, I think she can defeat Kallark 5.5-6/10.

I would go with Kara for sure here. Gladiator is too inconsistent, and overall he seems to have worse physicals than her

@theonewhoknows: Batman has also done this to Solomon Grundyy

@all-father: (A) Grundy re animates at different power levels (and always seems to be in his lowest possible stage the majority of the times Batman faces him in one of the "Batman" titles), and (B) Since Kara, as I demonstrated in my post, deals with characters in Grundy's tier in the fashion I displayed all the time, while Batman does not handle Grundy tier foes in the manner depicted in your post---then that means said incident you scanned has some context to it (context that Supergirl, as she consistently shows doesn't need)---or that scan involves massive PIS.

Either way, it doesn't invalidate Kara's Grundy feat in the least.

@theonewhoknows: Grundy wasn't operating at a different power level in this fight, he was beating both Gotham and Gotham Girl before Batman arrived. Don't get me wrong, i'm not saying Kara doesn't win.

Kara doesn't need context. Well... It doesn't become more obvious than that. As long as it is a character you like and you have the ability to puke the most painfully longest posts ever, you can ignore 100% context.

Kara "doesn't need context" because her long, long history of feats back up her legitimately knocking Grundy and others of his tier around. And if course, if one writes a short post, then one "hasn't proved anything". But if one makes a detailed post, then one "pukes the most painfully longest posts ever". But of course when others "puke painfully long posts" to make their alleged "points", it's okay because---well, just because.

Gladiator lost to a weakened hulk correct?

If supergirl can fight with superman and flash (holding back or not) she should have enough power to take this in around twenty four second or less.

This is a good fight

Gladiator has great speed and strength both at least close enough to do harm to Kara. The major thing in favor for Gladiator is the lack morals. Gladiator will go all out and give Kara some great harm, I can see him nearly beating Kara here, given he doesn't hold back. He's a better skilled fighter as well the two things in favor for him. His skills should prove useful and allow him to make this a good brutal fight.

Kara is stronger and more durable. As strong as Gladiator is Kara is more so, proving fighting Superman is within her range and capability.

The main issue with Kara is that she just like gladiator has inconsistent showings. Diana stomped Kara and Power Girl easily two on one within a few moves, proving more skilled opponents matter when Kara fights. Gladiator will make kara remember that here too. However Gladiator even more so is up and down, I give this a 7/10 for Kara. Because she's Jobs less, and has fought top guys before, has greater speed and strength. But it's close and if Kara makes a mistake Gladiators skills advantage comes into play.

• Breaks free of Quasar's constructs.

• While being possessed by Adam Magus, he breaks free of Quasar's construct again.

• Snaps Hyperion's neck. Hyperion was virtually as physically powerful as Gladiator. Gladiator snapping Hyperion's neck is confirmed in the next issue of where it happens.

• Easily rips away and throws a portion of a building.

• Easily deals with and chokes out Drax the Destroyer. He lets Drax know that he was toying with him.

• Rips apart a Kree Sentry.

• Gladiator can thudner-clap, creating shock waves that blow things away.

• Easily rips away and lifts a large portion of a ship.

• Lifts and throws a large boulder.

• Carries a large city-sized ship.

• Easily lifts and drops a bus on Ben Grimm.

• Lifts the Baxter Building.

Striking

• Destroys a planet.

• Hits Wonder Man hard enough that Wonder Man states that if he didn't roll with the punch his head would've been knocked clean off.

• Punches Ben Grimm clean through several cars and then launches Ben across a few blocks into the Baxter Building.

• Overpowers Nova Prime (Malik Tarcel) and some Nova Corpsman.

• Pummels Wonder Man into the core of a planet.

• Kicks Thor's Mjolnir across a city.

• Easily slams Ms. Marvel away.

• KO's Vulcan with two punches.

• KO's Black Bolt, albeit Black Bolt was stunned from a sonic attack first. Black Bolt in the aftermath.

• Withstands and contains an explosion that Reed Richards describes as comparable to a nova capable of annihilating half a solar system.

• Flies through a red giant star and is unfazed.

• Unfazed by Johnny Storm's flames.

• Unfazed by Johnny Storm's full nova blast.

• Withstands strikes from Thor wielding Mjolnir.

• Easily withstands attacks from Angela, Drax, and Groot, then launches Drax at the others, easily toppling them.

• Unfazed by a bull-rush from Nova (Richard Rider).

• Remains unfazed when a truck crashes into him.

• Colossus slams Gladiator with a stone pillar but Kal is completely unfazed.

• Withstands a blast of energy from Thor wielding Mjolnir.

• Completely unfazed by Vulcan's attack.

• Takes a blast to the face from the Phoenix Blade. The Phoenix Blade contains a tiny portion of the Phoenix Force's power.

Speed

• Fights Hyperion within the span of nanoseconds.

• Gladiator accelerates his speed enough to be able to interact with the Fantastic Four when they traveled to the future.

• Throwing punches so fast they become a blur. As to why he wasn't effecting Reed here, Gladiator was being tricked and was actually attacking Captain America's shield. Reed projected an image of himself onto Cap to fool Gladiator.

• Blitzes Eric Masterson Thor.

• Blitzes past the Starjammers and the Guardians of the Galaxy, incapacitating them all.

• Blitzes Nova (Richard Rider).

• Blitzes through a Nova Corpsman so fast he splits the Corpsman clean in half from the waist.

• Blitzes and splatters some Shi'ar.

• Moves and attacks Johnny Storm faster than Johnny could react.

• Sees a sniper a city distance across, catches the sniper bullet, and incinerates the sniper with his heat vision.

• Is fast enough to count 10 billion micro-sentinels inside a body.

• After hearing a signal from the Shi'ar, Gladiator flies across many light-years in minutes.

• Reed Richards detects that Gladiator was speeding towards Earth at 100-times the speed of light.

• Gladiator can fly so fast that he can slip into hyper-space, following some fleeing Skrulls. Gladiator had been following these Skrulls from when they entered Shi'ar space until they arrived near Pluto in the Sol system. Shi'ar space is located in an entirely different galaxy than the Milky Way.

Heat Vision

• His heat vision is described as hot as a star by Rom.

• Gladiator's heat vision is narrated as being hotter than a star.

• Gladiator's heat vision briefly matches Tyrant's, though he does get overpowered, as would be expected.

• Gladiator matches Phoenix-empowered Cyclops in a battle of eye-beam blasts. They remained in this stalemate until Gladiator decided to physically attack.

• Gladiator uses his heat vision to power up a stargate, which he states take an enormous amount of power to do.

• His heat vision easily blows through Smasher's head.

Super Breath

• Easily blows out Johnny Storm's flames.

• Briefly freezes Wonder Man.

• Drops a water tank on Thor Girl and uses his breath to briefly freeze her in place.

Enhanced Senses

• Hearing - Hears a Shi'ar signal from light years away.

• Vision - Gladiator's son Kubark uses "x-ray" vision.

• Vision - Sees a sniper from across the city.

• Vision - Sees the Fantastic Four from light-years away.

• Vision - Uses his hyper-vision to see Galactus from light-years away.

• Vision - It's narrated that his vision can see through the densest matter.

• Vision - Uses his micro-vision and is able to count that there were 10 billion micro-sentinels in Jean.

Miscellaneous

• Mental Strength/Telepathic Resistance - After realizing he was being mentally assaulted, he forced Rachel Summers out. Rachel is an omega level telepath.

• Self-Confidence - Gladiator is completely unfazed by Vulcan's attack simply because he believes himself to be so.

• Self-Confidence - Despite his vulnerability to magic, Kallark fights through the attack and defeats the enemy.

• Self-Confidence - Even when faced with the task of having to kill his mentors, Kallark maintains his confidence and self-belief, thus maintaining his power. The other Strontians fell due to losing the will to have to kill their mentors.

• Misc - Gladiator keeps a bubble construct, which he can use as a temporary transport prison for criminals, in his utility belt.

• Misc - Kallark is a pretty good father.

• Misc - Hype - Gladiator's son states that he's seen Gladiator crack moons with his punches, states that his heat vision burns hotter than the sun, and states that he's seen Gladiator tear apart a black hole with his hands.

Fights

Gladiator vs Fantastic Four

• Handles them rather easily.

Defeats Colossus.

Gladiator vs Thor - Fight 1

• Gladiator was exhausted from mainting hyper-speed for a while.
• The fight doesn't really go anywhere as it's interrupted by the F4

Defeats Wonder Man.

Gladiator vs Thor (Eric Masterson)

• After dealing with Wonder Man, Kal is attacked by Eric Masterson Thor.
• Gladiator was dominating the physical fight until Masterson used Mjolnir to manipulate Living Lightning and use him to attack Gladiator.

Gladiator vs Nova (Richard Rider)

• Gladiator mostly dominates the physical fight, proving to be faster and stronger than Nova.
• Gladiator is taken down by a combination of his own heat vision used against him and a nova blast, though Nova is also seen to be exhausted.

Gladiator vs Hyperion

• Gladiator and Hyperion are physically equal, their eye blasts are also equal.
• Gladiator and Hyperion are fast enough to fight in the span of nanoseconds.
• Gladiator proves to be a more skilled close-quarters-combatant and manages to break Hyperion's neck.

Gladiator vs Cannonball

• This fight is really only one of the few examples where Gladiator's confidence wavers.
• He hits Cannonball with his most powerful blow, but Cannonball's powerset allows him to redirect the force.
• Gladiator is still able to quickly recover.

Gladiator vs Thor - Fight 2

• Gladiator defeated Thor in the first part of the fight, using his speed and strength to blitz Mjolnir away from Thor and KO Thor.
• Thor Girl intercepts but he briefly incapacitates her with his freeze breath.
• Thor returns and manages to eventually down Gladiator with multiple strikes from Mjolnir, but it's Thor Girl who puts him down for good, using her power of the Designate, which is Skyfather level.

Gladiator vs Uni-Powered Susan Storm

• Despite her vast cosmic power, Gladiator was still unafraid to fight her.
