- Young Zuko in his Prime ( Whenever that was during the continuation in the comics)
- Both willing to Kill
- Basic Knowledge
- Standard Gear
R1 - Normal Fight
R2 - Sozins Comet Amped Zuko
bump Round 1 is pretty close.
Zuko's combo seems much more promising and deadly, however Ghazan's mobility combined with environmental attacks could turn the tides.
I'm now intriguted to give it to Zuko, esspecially if he has his swords, but Ghazan could definetely win and was my first choice after all.
Round 1: Ghazan murders Zuko without it being close. In raw power, Ghazan wins by a landslide. Anyone who says otherwise is not thinking straight. Ghazan took down a giant wall in Ba Sing Se with minimal effort. Something that comet-enhanced Iroh and The Drill could not even do.
Old or not, Ghazan has been in prison and disconnected from his element for 13 years, so a well-nourished Ghazan would murder Zuko in his prime. The nighttime affected both of them, since Ghazan couldn't see as well. He was also standing barefoot on ice, not well-connected to the earth, and severely limited on his earth. Don't even get me started on his lack of lava. Even with his swords in his prime, Zuko would get dropped if the fight took place in the middle of an earthen city filled with lots of land to which Ghazan was connected. No lava needed.
Round 2: Close fight, since Zuko is so enhanced and can fly even without Sozin's Comet. Use Zuko from "North and South" and give him his swords. And then set the fight in Ba Sing Se or some other aera filled with an abundant amount of earth. The heat from Zuko's fire and swords enhanced by Sozin's Comet would make it easier for Ghazan to liquefy his earth into lava, and then Ghazan would melt his swords and knock him around. In agility, Ghazan still has Zuko beaten even in his prime, and in raw power, Ghazan wins hands down. the way that he took down the giant wall and Air Temple is well beyond anything that comet-enhanced Iroh, let alone Zuko, did.
Still, Zuko would be better than Ghazan during Sozin's Comet in speed, equal in agility, and close in raw power, but still behind Ghazan there.
Overall, Ghazan stomps Round 1 and Round 2 could go either way, 50/50, maybe 55/45 in Ghazan's favor.
If we were using kemurikage Azula with Sozin's Comet against Ghazan, then it'd be a different story, since she's at least as agile as him and has instant lightning and flight. Zuko from "North and South" during Sozin's Comet, however, is at best tied with Ghazan. Still giving Round 2 to Ghazan 55/45.
I don't see how Ghazan can win either round tbh. Zuko actually has him beat when it comes to combat applicable damage output. Ghazan's lavabending is more dangerous and destructive but that doesn't make him more powerful. Ghazan's demonstrably slower and less agile, and his attacks aren't any better. They've been avoided by every character he fought besides old Zuko, even Bumi was able to maneuver his way around his attacks to get within biting distance. Ghazan's also shown a lack of adequate defensive options to block attacks as powerful as Zuko's.
@anthp2000: What feats of agility come to mind? Even S1 Zuko could match Aang at times with trading attacks like in the perfume episode.
Zuko matching Aang was speed (which I agree, he's faster than Ghazan, excluding raw travel speed). But as far as agility (acrobatic abilities) goes, Ghazan's casually performed high end somersaults and backflips while maintaining offence.
Zuko's pretty agile in his own right, but this is one of the few categories Ghazan has an advantage in (as unimportant as it might be for the most part).
