Pretty sure Atrocitus captured and killed a Guardian in order to make his red ring in the first place. He also had magic before his ring, IIRC.

Without his ring Atrocitus has broken free of Sinestro's constructs and tanked attacks by both him and Hal. In addition he has some knowledge of blood magic. Still, I don't think he's displayed enough offensive power while unarmed to beat unworthy Thor.

Outside of trashing lanterns, Atrocitus is lacking in feats against people of Thor's level aside from maybe like Martian Manhunter?
