I didn't write the other options down, but after all was said and done I figured "Eh, if Toph will have to go out, it might as well be to Korra."

Korra pretty easily. It's sad such a powerful bender like Toph is going out so early.

Korra, far too many options at her disposable and her spouts would give Toph fits.

Wouldn't it be cool if we saw Korra or other firebenders in a comic create a fire spout?

Stage 1, Round 8/12: Lin Beifong vs Pakku

Now this is a match!

I'm going to go with Lin for now, but it'll be a close fight.

Not read the books so can't tell, but I was talking about a pure Fire Spout.

Lin should take this fairly easily.

OT: I'm going with pakku, the only thing Lin has going for her here is her mobility which is countered hard by pakku's own, he has reacted to attacks better/faster than hers and she doesn't have the ability to overpower him.

It's gonna be close but I see pakku having a 7/10 advantage.

Without additional metal in the location Lin will have to rely only on her cables and earthbending, which while powerful in its own right isn't enough to give an edge against someone like Pakku in this particular scenario where there's more than reasonable amount of water, by which he should be able beat Lin when she's restricted to Earth alone.

That said, I believe this would much more tougher matchup to decide if Lin has additional metal source.

I’m gonna think about it for a bit before I vote.

Pakku after a tough one since he has a good source of water and Lin is lacking additional metal.

I'm leaning towards Lin but I could be convinced otherwise.

Lin would stomp Moon Boosted Pakku. And even then, pretty sure only Hama is Moon Boost.

And while they are stronger during night time, still not enough to beat Lin.

Holy shit, people overrate Pakku so fricken much here. He would get absolutely destroyed by Lin.

The only good feats he has is against Katara and those are not close enough to beat Lin.

Toph unfortunately had a terrible first round matchup, and I think she was sabotaged. I have prime suspects, but no one is clear of suspicion...

As far as this round, I'll still be siding with a Beifong.

It was going to be either her or someone else (I won't say who) to fight Korra and the randomizer made its decision.

This is a tough fight to call. Lin doesn't really have any metal and pakku has a fair amount of water. Still, Lin has a mobility Advantage here, and her earth bending is really powerful. I think she can bring out a win.

How is Pakku win here based on the fact he doesn't have a moon boost? Also, how is he even winning with it?

Probably the lack of abundance of metal around sways people away from Lin. I still back her based on a number of reasons, though.

She has range enough, she should be better in CQC, she's got bending abilities Pakku never dealt with (seismic sensing and metalbending) while she has experience against the likes of Ming Hua, and earthbending in general being a great counter to waterbending IMO.

True. People undersell her because of her lack of metal in the catacombs while completely forgetting that she for the most part only use her cables and armor in a fight. She has also shown proficiency in earthbending. Not to mention that the location suit her perfectly.

And as you said, Earthbending is a counter to waterbending unless ofc you can use spouts, which Pakku have not shown he can do without boost. And that is only against Toph I would say as Lin can actually see so a spout would only make him more mobile.

I’m going to vote for Lin by a hair. I don’t think Pakku would fair well against her metal cables. It’s a tight one nonetheless.

On the bright side of everything, pretty much every other match is a debatable one IMO.

Stage 1, Round 9/12: Firelord Ozai vs FM Hama

I'm voting Ozai.

She has access to bloodbending.

If Hama can bloodbend, and according to the tournament rules she does, she wins since there's nothing to suggest Ozai can break out.

If ozai can get a shot like mako, he might win, but for now I pick Hama

Voting for the Puppetmaster

Mako managed to get a shot off lightning off on Amon. Ozai is a more powerful firebender than firebenders that would embarrass Mako, and Hama is a weaker waterbender than Amon. There's no reason that Ozai can't get a fire blast off on Hama and put her down.

Ozai wins due to all his amazing feats outside of the comet, and from not only knowing of bloodbending, but from having already resisted it. And it's not like Hama would have any real desire to outright murder Ozai due to any preexisting grudge against the Fire Nation.

This is sarcasm. I'm going with Hama.

Hama should win. Ozai's lightning is faster than normal, but it's not instant. He can't point and shoot like mako, and unlike Amon Hama usually makes her opponents kneel to the ground, so Ozai will not his finger pointing at her like mako did.

I'm glad Ozai is pit against a bloodbender, thus making it possibly the least controversial way to eliminate him in the early stages, so that we wouldn't have him in battles at his base levels (which are hard to gauge honestly) deep into the tourney.

I would say unless Ozai has comet boost (which he doesn't), Hama should take this. While I think that Ozai would be more powerful, he wouldn't be able to get around her bloodbending.

EDIT: I would say though that if she would give Ozai the opportunity that Amon gave Mako, then honestly, Ozai one-shot.
