An Avatar Battle Tournament

I did this last year and since then, I think opinions on the Vine have shifted in some ways. Because my other thing didn't take off I'm going to do this again with most the same characters and more. However, due to the nature of bloodbending still prevailing among y'all, I won't allow it this time around.

Rules are as follows:

• All matches take place in the Crystal Catacombs
• Waterbenders have nighttime level power, firebenders have daytime level power
• Everyone is in character
• Everyone has standard gear
• Start 30 ft away on even ground with in-verse knowledge
• Win by death, KO, or incap
• Unless otherwise specified, everyone is at their best (obviously no Comet etc.)

@cocacolaman: i have said this repeatedly, the crystal catacombs is not a neutral location, it doesn't allow waterbenders like Korra/Katara to go to the extent they can with thier abilities and it doesn't allow aerial and evasive characters to utilize space and the air well and it also gives a very unfair environmental advantage to earthbenders like Yun, Toph, bumi.

It being a neutral location for mid tier characters because of the limit of thier abilities doesn't make it a neutral location for high tier characters. I would like to propose a location change if you're considering it.

I'm not sure where would be fairer unless I made up a location of my own. Aystarr Island or some beach would be the only other thing I can think of.

Republic City(the location where Korra froze the colossus, to be exact) could be a good option tbh.

• There's alot of earth and pre existing buildings could be a lot more helpful for earthbenders.
• All these structures have metal in them, so metal source is also abundant.
• The location houses the best unamped waterbending feat, so availability of water isn't a question either.
• The very nature of buildings are excellent agility boosters for evasive characters.
• If you include the book 3 version of the city, where spirit vines were growing near the river, they help the plant benders a lot.

Guess it has something for everyone.

@viking1205: imo republic city has too much environmental advantage For earthbenders and metalbenders considering the layout but it's better than the CC I guess.

No, it doesn't allow earthbenders like bumi, Toph to use thier earthbending to its full potential and it's an unfair advantage for waterbenders like Korra and Katara who can probably flood the whole island with just two wave of thier hands.

Doesn’t limit Fire or air, earthbenders have earth, waterbenders have water, metalbenders have metal, plantbenders have plants. It’s efficient for everyone.

Golden Gate perhaps. I don't think ocean city is a neutral choice though.

Anyway, I mean the closest in verse location to the picture in your link is RC. Miami should be fine imo.

@viking1205: The main thing turning me away from RC is the narrow street limiting earthbenders and the relative ease with which waterbenders can be pushed away from a water source.

That depends on the skill of the benders to be frank.

Ocean City is a large area so it'd depend on where exactly there they'd fight. And I don't think the Golden Gate Bridge would be a neutral location as there is a lot of water but it's far down that it would pretty much exclusively favor top-tier waterbenders - weaker ones would be without resources. Earth- and metalbenders could also just collapse the bridge.

As for in-universe locations, would Royal Caldera City be good? It's open, and it has plenty of water, metal and earth.

For locations you could maybe use the Nan Shan River, but place Zaofu metal around the ground and on the trees or something.

I'm going to try to illustrate a location of my own for this tournament.

Stage 1, Round 2: Huu vs Tonraq

I won't count votes until I get my illustration up

White dot = airbenders, yellow dot = earthbenders, blue dot = waterbenders, red dot = firebenders. Darker green = grassy ground, tall trees, vines, etc. Gray = metal buildings. Big blue lines = river. Darker brown = bridges. Lighter brown = rocky ground. Small blue spots = pools. Everything is proportional, so those small dots compared to the water is equal to how big the people will be to the river in actuality.
