The feat isn't an outlier. It's Boruto that ruins almost everything good that there was in Naruto, the shitty writing of Manga( Boruto I mean) doesn't help either. They had to nerf Sasuke and Naruto so that they wouldn't outshine the new characters, and they had to introduce a new organization with 0 (or almost) background in the previous Manga which is basically Cell Saga 2.0 with the Androids.

I tend to agree with you especially if we're basing it on the Naruto and Sasuke for that matter we see in Boruto. He appears to be less capable if Shin can raw penetrate him with a sasuke's sword. I get that for storytelling purposes he can't be too strong but I feel like they do a bad job at making him weaker. It feels like they're just playing fast and loose with his speed as well in various fights. Every new opponent he faces appears to be the same speed and faster at some points to pressure him into protecting someone else. At the same time though boruto and the new set of genin to some extent are keeping up though. This is why I'm not big on sequel anime where they try to hand off the reigns to a new younger character.

Not an outlier Boruto just washed Naruto and Sasuke down this is what happens when your main character (Boruto) is tiers upon tiers weaker than side characters (Naruto and Sasuke) side villains have to scale to Naruto and Sasuke every time (Delta, Shin, Kinshiki, other Kara members) while at the same time not be absolutely above the likes of Kage tier characters even though Naruto and Sasuke is skies above any other ninja in the verse. Genin joining together to take down a big bad (Boro) who was they’re waiting for Sasuke to arrive implying he’d be any threat to Sasuke when, Sarada with a 2 tomoe sharingan could get licks off on him smh.

Remember in Naruto when it took him and Sasuke all they could muster up just to get the drop on a Zabuza clone just so they could free Kakashi, Yup those days are over Boruto is like that scene but replace Zabuza with someone like Juubito or Juubi Madara

It's very hard to gauge at this point because the last naruto has a better durability feat then both war arc and the boruto series version of naruto. So it's either that the boruto series ruined naruto's character as a whole, it is a outlier, or the feats aren't consistent enough for him to have continental durability

It's only as bad as it is due to the fandom ignoring the fact that naruto and sasuke got weaker, If you factor such details in then things such as momo getting damaged by boruto make sense.

The difference between the zabuza scene mentioned and boruto scenes versus beloved characters like momoshiki and isshiki would be that the naruto genin never really damaged or even hit the main villain at the time but with boruto, he was able to straight up beat momo in hand to hand. There was never really any indication sasuke or naruto could do that to zabuza hence why they tried to free kakashi but nice false eqiavance fallacy

Almost all long running battle manga deal with this problem when power levels get to the point where they're damaging/destroying celestial bodies ect

This feats go well in the lore of the verse and are even quite tame to it. The sage of six paths had the power to both make the moon (not yet that hollow) and make it go to orbit after a massive battle and Naruto had his powers directly given by him

It has sufficient showings also: In the last he provides the energy to briefly move the moon as does his opponents, is hit twice by the golden wheel etc. So we have enogh info to infer that his capabilities are at that level, yes

Yeah, Boruto combat isn't very visual in terms of destruction and is more hand2hand oriented (much like Bleach ironically). You dudes are just going to have to deal with it.

@johnnypowers: Not exactly an outlier, you have to understand that although the events of The Last are considered canon, it was written and directed by people other than the original author.

Kishimoto got involved in the project with the character designs and the initial concept to the story, but the script was written by Maruo Kyozuka. That's why there is such a huge leap in the scale of powers.

Boruto is the same thing. Kishimoto is directly involved in the project, but it is actually writen by Ukyo Kodachi. Therefore you have yet the view of another person.

That is the reason for the inconsistences between Naruto's original series, The Last and Boruto.

But they are still canon.

Boruto is just horrible at depicting scale, even just BM Naruto from the war pre-six paths has so crazy feats that it would be dumb for everyone else to be as relevant in Boruto as they are (Shikamaru immboilizing Momoshiki and Kinshiki, all the kage being relevant in fighting them, Boruto and Sarada being able to trail Hokage Naruto undetected, Shin being at all relevant) if the level of power was not super downplayed all the time, but in terms of scaling, statements, lore and such there is a typical shonen power progression.

Stuff like that works better with DBZ because it's way goofier and cartoony, even during serious arcs, compared to Naruto being comparatively more political, gritty and treating lore with more gravitas, whereas it's often basically a joke in DB.

It's rather consistent because:

1. Slicing/moving the moon <<< moon level. I put Toneri at country level with Juubito.

2. Naruto concentrated his kyuubi chakra into his arm only, leaving his body vulnerable. The only reasonable explanation is that it amps his durability, allowing him to tank such a great attack.

3. Naruto probably has more kyuubi chakra than war arc with both kuramas.
