@tektonic:
I don't know how much clearer I can make this for you: it doesn't favor Korra in the slightest here because it is a statement bordering on a joke that highlights the difference between Korra and a pacifist. It favors neither Aang nor Korra; it's objectively invalid. Even if it wasn't a joke, it goes directly against what this thread is asking, which is who would win if they fought going all out.
Either it's a statement favoring Korra, or a joke favoring Korra. No matter how you define it - it favors Korra, as she is never implied to be in danger it's vice versa.
Even factoring, his pacifism they don't even deny a battle would take place, that Aang would have to resort to a "trick" using his pacifism to end it. And in regards to the 9/10 statement, they basically say if she were to grad a hold of him it would be completely over for him unless he just can;t defend himself.
No he didn't. He picked out the first, most distinct and famous earthbender of the ones listed to take note of the fact that she's considered a master bender, all the whilst mentioning there's no actual ranking system. This is mental gymnastics on your part as far as I'm concerned. And even if I understand your interpretation of this statement - which I don't - you still have to admit that it's a stretch.
You just answered that yourself, if the greatest earthbender on that list, can give her a good fight, than by definition everyone below would perform worse.
In order to legitimize Kuvira's earthbending, he had to compare her to the only person on that list that would universally represent that, otherwise the point would not have come across how he needed it to.
They don't go around compiling lists like we do, but they have general idea's aside from the ones shown in the show itself, which is different from not having one at all, which he does not say.
Your interpretation hinges on BK being lazy or careless in regards to the totality of the question. Which is false it's a Reddit AMA not a red carpet interview he had just as much time to think about it as he did all the other questions he gave detailed or crisp answers towards.
At the end of the day, the statement is never contradicted in any form of media.
I'm sorry if this comes off as aggressive, but I really shouldn't be dignifying this with a response. Everything I've said about the previous one being a throaway statement highlighting the difference between Aang and Korra's characteristics traits applies here, and it applies here even more because the interviewer quite literally opened the thread of who would win in a fight between them by noting it's interesting how different the two of them are mindset wise.
Everything I didn't respond to here is just stuff I disagree with that are besides the point. The thing is, you've brought up 3 statements in this page and you've stretched them all out with assumptions that are really not based on the wording - or anything for that matter, in my opinion.
Aang's pacifism only delays the inevitable or is a cop out looking at the two statements, Korra would not be able to force him otherwise without superior ability being a factor.
