Back in 2012, writer Geoff Johns teamed up with artist Gary Frank and colorist Brad Anderson to create a brand new origin for Batman on Earth-One. This stand alone book was a great starting point for new readers, and followed well in the footsteps of SUPERMAN: EARTH ONE. However, there hasn't been too much news on the sequel to this, until now.

Recently, Geoff Johns released images from the highly anticipated BATMAN: EARTH ONE Volume 2, which will hit comic stores and digital stores on May 6th, 2015, on his Instagram account. Here's the two images.

We don't know much about the story, but we can see that Gary Frank is still doing an amazing job on the art with Brad Anderson on colors. BATMAN: EARTH ONE Volume 2 will be available on May 6th, 2015.

What do you guys think of the released images?

@nightfang: It's on sale now at Comixology for only 5 dollars. I suggest getting it there, because print versions of the Earth One books come in really slim hard covers which are somewhat hard to read.

I know many hate this title because Batman was "incompitent" and I don't blame them really, that how I would feel if Bats was one of my favorites. But this title was so enjoyable. It reminded me Batman Tas in a way, which still is my favorite Batman take. Also that twist at the end was incredible.

Great art, great Bullock, great Alfred, atrocious Batman. I'll get the book second hand, but only for the pretty pictures, as I have no high hopes for the story. Maybe Johns will pleasantly surprise me this time, but I doubt it...

I wish they'd start pumping out the Earth One books faster, like, three a year.

That would be a dream. One E1 book every 2 years is annoying.

@tikbaz: The whole point of this series is that it's a different take on Batman, he's not suppose to be the same as he is in the normal continuity.

Sorry, Volume 1 sucked. Won't bother with this. Johns can't write Batman for toffee (although I will admit his version of Bats in JL has markedly improved since the end of Forever Evil)

I had mixed feelings about the first volume. It's been a while since I've read it but from what I remember it was a fun read with a more realistic, cinematic feel - and the art was great, I might add.

But at the same time I felt like Batman was being written as a bit of a chump. I.e. his gear failing, getting it handed to him by Gordon's cops and Alfred. I also didn't care for his super cocky attitude. I get that Johns was trying to show his inexperience but he went a step too far. But hopefully Johns' will have toned this down a little seeing how this Batman has been around the block a bit.

Then again, it is an alternate reality, different rendition and all that, so I think I will be purchasing this if I can find it at a good price. Maybe off of Comixology.

I thought this would never happen. Wonder who the villain will be this time (assuming it isn't a criminal organization which would be a nice change).

People give Volume one a bum wrap. I think what Johns was going for in the story was to show a realistic interpretation of what trying to be batman would be like. Bruce was going to screw up and did. His arrogance and inexperience got in the way almost killing him a few times, but I really liked the character development. Bruce realized he could never stop fighting the darkness he saw, and Bullock was traumatized by it. I'm a rabid bat fan, and initially had to step back a bit from that to really enjoy the story. The art obviously was fantastic and on the whole it was a good work of storytelling. I think this story will show Bruce developing into a better Batman out of necessity, and I am really looking forward to it.

I only made a comment after observing that the people who are looking forward to this the most(based on the posts made till now) spend their time either complaining about Batman,or at best dont care about him at all. Yet looking at this page it appears as if these guys are the biggest Batman fans of them all.

Secondly I dont care if Batman is drop kicking trees or fighting Gods, dont make corny assumptions, Nolan's Batman did neither and I love his work,Johns Batman just sucks as he completely misses the point. It being an alternative universe also means nothing.

Can't stand this characterization of Batman alternate as it may be.

That costume though is I think almost the perfect Batman costume, it just needs the Hush batsymbol and white eyes. And better boots.

I have no problem with elseworlds characterizations that makes his abilities more in line with a humans in the real world...in fact, that is what most elseworlds stories do.

This Batman however, is ridiculously inept, to the point of only having surface level qualities in common with most other incarnations.

I love this incarnation of Batman. He's the underdog, he's not that great yet, he's sloppy, arrogant, uncoordinated and vengeful. In Year One Batman was crappy too.

Throughout this story alone we see him progress, by the end he is much more effective, swiftly taking out Cobblepot's men, then his arrogance blinded him again and he was caught off guard. It will be great to look back on these in vol. 6 when he's in the Justice League kicking alien arse, it will feel earned. The point of Batman is that he's human, he represent's human endurance, ingenuity and grit.

The pieces have been reassembled, but it's still Batman.

Also, if you're that bothered by his abilities, just practically, he has to progress to a high level, Superman and Wonder Woman exist in this world, at some point they will butt heads.

I want to see Deathstroke, Aquaman or Green Arrow next.
