Who is the true voice of Batman? Kevin Conroy or Christian Bale?

Is this a joke? It's like comparing The Empire Strikes Back to The Phantom Menace.

Believe me, my friend, there are actually people out there that like Bale's *WHERESHATRIGGAR?!!* voice over Conroy's. I know, I find it hard to believe as well.

Bale may have been great in most other aspects of the character, but his voice wasn't natural and you can hear the difference. Bale strains to put out the Batman voice (reason behind it is sound though), but Conroy (as you can see in some interviews) can switch almost effortlessly from his own voice and to the Batman voice. Like this vid with Newsarama shaky-cam.

I would expect comic fans to pick conroy and general population to pick Bale, but this is comic vine so it makes sense Kevin is winning. Both voices are iconic on their own right though

Yeah, and you think it's iconic because people like it? his voice is so damn comical and ridiculous it's impossible to not make parodies of it to oblivion. It's iconic for sounding like a throat cancer-cookie monster-heavy metal singer.

Oh Kevin Conroy all the way! Every time I think of Bale's voice I think of Linkara's when he is reviewing a bad Batman comic and then I just can't take Bale seriously after that. Although Bale's Bruce Wayne isn't bad at all.

Yes, that wouldve made the trilogy a thousand times better if he spoke like he did in BB. But it's still not anywhere near as iconic as Conroy and its comedic to say otherwise. I love the movies, so don't get me wrong. I loved bale as Batman a much as the next guy, and could not see anyone but him taking his place in that trilogy. But there just comes a time where you have to put fanboyism aside and be logical.

Conroy. But I enjoyed Bale's more.

@modernww2fare: I'm watching the dark Knight on AMC right now and it reminded me that its actually a cool voice. Conroy's is still more iconic and Batman's true voice though.

@modernww2fare: Most of the other guys who played batman in animated films have a whispery voice. Conroy is the only one that does it smoothly. But c'mon bales voice was cool! Deep and grumbly, but also cool. Its really not even that bad
