Who has been Batman's most challenging villain in the New 52

The New 52 has been around for a few years now and in that time Batman has faced some tough enemies. But who has the Dark Knight had the biggest challenge to defeat? Maybe an older villain will take your vote (people have said about how Bane has had a large strength upgrade) or perhaps you'll go with a new bad guy (the Talons caused quite a stir when they were introduced).

P.S. Try to stick to bad guys who have appeared in Batman titles rather than one's he's fought in the Justice League (Darkseid is obviously going to be more powerful than Killer Croc, you get the idea).

Court of Owls definitely gave him a run for his money.

Though the Eternal story might end up taking the cake for this.

Lady Shiva, because:

1) They only had one fight, and she won.

2) It was Batman's New 52 first defeat...she was the first one to do it, the first one to get the job done.

3) She had both Batman and Robin at her mercy, she could have killed them, but she choosed not to, and walked away like a total boss.

@bat_girl_cc: I know, I've seen threads where people were saying that he could beat Captain America 9/10 times and take down Moon Knight and Black Widow at the same time without any noticeable trouble.

Bane is a beast!...on-venom, he gets overall amped...without venom, he relies more on his skill (yeah, among other areas, he is a skilled Hand-to-Hand fighter).

@bat_girl_cc: I was pretty pleased when I saw the New 52 had raised his stats above 2 ton strength while on Venom, he was cool before but I don't think Batman had enough villains who could show off his ability of being able to take down guys much stronger than him (Killer Croc doesn't count). It would be good to see Bane with a bit more skill in the New 52 though.

Physically challenging? Bane probably, he's basically almost a ten-tonner at this point.

The Talons are pretty hardcore too. Enhanced healing, strength, speed, durability, etc. Plus elite ninja training. They are basically Wolverine Lites.

Intellectually challenging? Riddler seems to be doing well in that arena right now.

It wasn't really much of a fight. She tagged him with a poisoned shuriken, and from that point on it was basically just her wailing on a solo Robin. And while I don't dispute Shiva's skill, beating up a 16 year-old sidekick (who was doing remarkably well, all things considered) while his mentor is barely standing up isn't really that much of an impressive feat.

Joker duh,DOTF was the bestest thing evah...

But really Leviathan takes the cake,Bane has been hit(Knight Terrors,Arkham War,Talon) and miss(Batwoman, recent Batgirl issue),Riddler is up there as well based on Zero Year atleast,Wrath was cool too, Court of Owls were inflated and hyped.

Court of owls easy. That stuff cut deep, all the way to his childhood and parents death. Only the stuff in batman eternal compares.

I didn't said that Shiva proved to be more skilled than Batman there, also Shiva was basically testing Dick's skills that's why she said: "come then, impress me, Bat-boy"

I said that they only had one fight, which Shiva won...Shiva was also the first one to do it, which i consider very relevant...and she decided to not kill them, when she could have...all true, plus, it's just my opinion, if you think that Bane, has been the most challenging one, then for me it's fine, but remember, in the New 52, Batman has beaten Bane as well, as Bane has beaten Batman...while Shiva has beaten Batman, and Batman has not beaten Shiva, yet.

Each of the major villains in the new 52 has challenged Batman in different ways. The Joker forces Batman to question his identity and moral code, and mentally tortures him. The Riddler challenges Batman in an intellectual capacity where the Dark Knight has to rely less on his tech and his physical abilities and more on his wits and cunning.

But I have to say the Court of Owls was Batman's biggest challenge. Even though it's for a brief moment, they did break Batman physically and psychologically. Talia/Leviathan on the other hand may have left Batman bloodied and battered with his son dead in his arms, but that was only an impetus for Batman to come back harder and stronger than before.

Well now that joker is back I think he's a contender too. The red hood stuff, death of the family, and now he has the JL against batman.

The Joker/JLA may take the cake, depending on how the Bats vs Supes fights turn out to be.

well I mean Joker tore the Bat-family apart, we can still see the repurcussions from DOTF now, so he's definately up there.

Physically challenging though?

The court of owls sure put him through a lot , and Shiva had Bats at her mercy.
