It's October so that means I'm doing a Halloween(ish) themed character creation contest. Show me what goes bump in the night...what is waiting for you in the dark? Although AJ won the last contest, he has been MIA for over a week so I am taking over since I was the runner-up from the last one (and I cleared it with sora_thekey first).

yea definitely fermenting on fears for this one, glad there's so much time, it's one of those challenges where that is a big plus. I can't wait to see all the horror.
@AJ: Hey, no trouble...Will you be participating in this one? @Dark Walker: Thanks! I always appreciate the comments. You should try this contest out - It is good for an artist to work outside of their comfort zone and expand their skill set.
@Decoy Elite: Hey thanks for participating, I was hoping that more people would get in on this one. Creative Criticism: I think you need to alternate the tonal values of the wall and the characters clothing. The way it is, it looks like he is popping out of it, not standing the the shadows behind it (I had to do a double take to see it because of how dark the maroon wall is. Won't bother commenting on anatomy. Still waiting on you to figure out how to scan or even take a picture of your work and upload that.
@LT1085: I don't have a scanner(sadly) and my camera need batteries currently. I haven't drawn anything good on paper lately anyway. I only really added something because it's clear that this contest needs more submissions and I was hoping others might join in if I did.
Here's mine. This was an exercise in composition, drama and foreshortening for me. I decided to use a sketch technique with my inks to have a grittier look...

excellent work my friend, and very nice touch with the bucket and mop :) I promise this contest will have much less blood from me, couldn't resist with Jason.
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner but I was very busy this past weekend with work and such and surprised I got the drawing done too, and I wanted to say thanks for all the positive comments.

Being a HUGE fan of all things horror. My wife and myself designed this character together complete with a very long origin story. But long story short this is Helloween and her sentient jack o lantern (no name yet). Basically Helloween is the current grim reaper which she gained her power by defeating the former grim reaper. Long story short she gets set up and tricked into a portal into our world by an unknown assailant hoping to take over the position as reaper. Helloween has all the powers of death itself. That should give everyone the jist of this character. Now on that note its friggin 3:42am I have been drawing for way to long tonight, time for bed.

I went through a LOT of ideas for this one. Horror is such a fun theme to work with. What I decided on was a tribute to the great EC horror classics of the 50's and all the brave souls armed with a flashlight and a book. Happy Halloween Comic Vine :)
@DavidR: well it's not as entertaining as smashing the Wonder Twins heads together but I did say I would use less blood this time. I saved the cleaning lady from having a miserable Nov 1st :)
