What should I use to colour the back ground?

The main image is in water colour, but I was thinking of making the background either lighter or darker. Or maybe I should do the whole thing in water colour colour, but black and white. What do you think?

oh to clarify, i'm not saying get rid of the background images i'm saying the bare spots in the background could be that red and the images could be left there. i'd say exactly the way they are but then i would need to see how they look with that red in there.

Maybe, I should make the back ground that yellowish colour; you know the way old photographs look.

I love THAT idea! The white and grey. I'm seriously considering it.

mix it up a little, it seems like you have four quadrants of close up art in the background, use different colours for each one
