I just went digital a couple of months ago myself. The tablet was one big purchase, but in the long run, probably a lot cheaper with all the brush, pen, paint, and pencil types it provides (depending on your software) than buying the actual stuff every time I run out.
My first few pieces were kinda like yours, I can definitely see that you're more used to actual pencils. Upon first impression, one thing I'd suggest, which I also still struggle with, is to try to play around with the line weights more.
