Public Domain Re-design #24 - Nightro

Time to redesign another public domain character. This time it's NIGHTRO.

"Hugh Goddard was left for dead in a radium mine by criminals. He survived the experience but was blinded by the radiation. Wanting revenge, he uncovered a pair of special glasses that gave him his sight back, but they only worked if he avoided light. He then created the identity of Nightro, which he would use to terrify and fight crime. Hugh Goddard was accompanied by his guide dog, Blackie, during the day, but at night, he donned his glasses to become Nightro. Sometimes Blackie accompanied him on missions as an attack dog."

Deadline is October 2nd.

The potential in this one is outstanding.

Interesting to see what can be created with this one.

Reminds me of Dr MidNite. I would like to take him in a different direction. I smirked when i read that he has an assist dog. Makes sense in a way.

Hoping this one gets a few entries. Will see what I can try but really looking forward to seeing what some artists create!

I've designed my costume. Hoping to get a chance to do an actual drawing.

@armiv2: Hopefully there will be a few entries tonight or tomorrow. Good character to re-design. I think a lot of artists have been busy with a few things of late. I love this contest, hope it continues.

I know I've been real busy with stuff, but dang, I didn't think everyone else would be so busy too...
Shoot. I really don't want it to end either.

@armiv2: Sometimes each contest has a slow period. I think this is the slow period for all the contests and the site in general. People returning to school or starting school, as well as new jobs and the like. This is the time of year for all that to happen. I don't think it will stop I know there are a number of us who like this contest. Personally I've not had time to get to this one but will try to do something. I don't want to be the only one. Perhaps it can get an extension if artists need more time?

I think an extension could help. I think I'd like to try and get myself to create a design for this.

The Radium mine not only stole his sight but also his mind. Alone to fend for himself Hugh Goddard stumbles upon a pair of sunglasses which triggers the alter ego most homeless know as - NIGHTRO .

I worked on my drawing most of yesterday but couldnt get it to look right. Hoping to finish it tonight. Or I could just post my costume sketch

I'm going to extend the contest for a couple of days. This'll give people a chance to complete their entries (including my own).

New deadline is October 2nd.

I rushed this just to get an entry in before the deadline. Time willing, I may do more to it with the extension in place. If not, this is my entry.

@payno - Nice work as always.

@redscare: Great work. Love the colors and especially the "third eye" you gave him. Nice touch. I think you managed to convey a sense of the Golden Age with the current Modern Age designs for his costume.

I'm gonna try an' have my entry in by tonight.

Here's my take on Nightro and his seeing eye dog...errrm...Werewolf..."Blackie." Nightro uses his special goggles to do more than just see in the dark, he can also see certain spirits, entities, ghosts, monsters, demons and the like. He can also shadow meld and teleport.

Blackie helps sniff them out and tears them apart when need be but otherwise obeys Nightro's commands.

Don't know if I will color it but here's my entry for this contest

I am so sorry about the crappy quality. I spent the entire day getting floored in Character Modeling, so I really didn't have any time to do some proper cleaning up.

@decept_o - I really like that design. It's a really cool re-imagining of the character.

@armiv2: It isn't crappy. I like the dog quite a bit.
