Character Creation Contest #49 - Chess

The winner of the last Character Creation Contest seems to be MIA so we shall go ahead and keep this contest alive (thanks to @Decept-O who brought it up). Alright, this time I am going to challenge everybody's artistic abilities.

Rules: You are given a set of parameters (below) in which to create a character. Anything not specified in the creation criteria is 100% up to the imagination of the creator.

The Criteria: The character you are creating must be a rendition of a chess piece. The character can be either male or female, unless the chess piece you chose states otherwise (ie. King or Queen). Make the character a super-hero/villain, a live version of the piece (like a knight) or any other form you can think of to bring the pieces to life.

Here's a list of all the chess pieces in case you don't know them:

• Pawn
• Bishop
• Knight
• Rook
• Queen
• King

@Decept-O: lol let me guess, the computer cheats. HA! That's how I learned to play chess then when I was in the Mayan Riviera I bought a marble chess set which I've never really used.

This should be interesting, not sure if I will have the time to check or mate this one lol, ugh I'm gonna go sit in the corner now.

@EGoD: That is funny. Yes, the computer does cheat, dang nabbit. So do some online players. Nah, no one cheats, I just enjoy the game. An addiction I am happy to have.

The Mayan Rivera? Whoa sounds like you've been around places. A marble chess set, that sounds nice. It does suck if you don't have someone to play against.

@Decept-O: lol yeah I hate when the computer cheats, but then that's what the "undo last move" button is for right. Not like I do that or anything.... I haven't been around too many places just the caribbean mostly, want to go to Greece and Egypt but that requires money, even us travel agents don't get the discounts we used to anymore.

@EGoD: At least you've been a few places. Not many people can claim that. I actually know several people from my hometown area who've never been outside a couple hundred miles and less radius where they live. Regarding Greece, that would be a destination to be certain, although sounds like they are having a rough time of things. Egypt as well if not more so at the moment. I had a roommate years ago who had been in the Army and stationed in Egypt and he did not have anything positive to say about that country. Then again that was his experience, so who knows?

Perhaps you can get those travel agent deals again in the near future. Sounds like a job that would be good to have but that is just me.

Thought of something that appeals to me.. Let's see if I can do it.

I call it The Rook. It's a tad sketchy in places (outline of his helmet) but I did it in less than a day, which is very quick for me, so please excuse any mess.

P.A.W.N was created by a mad scientist to be fodder for his Chess themed robots, but the madman was defeated before the other robots could be finished. P.A.W.N was to be dismantled but a hero took pity on the machine and reprogrammed it to be good. To the hero's surprise this led to P.A.W.N trying to stop villains despite it's weak body and lack of any skill. When a second attempted was made to reprogram P.A.W.N it did nothing, the machine had someone grown a mind of it's own and wouldn't give up it's dreams to be a hero.

Annnnnnnnd Now I know what happens when you move an image and leave the background blank. >.>

Love this idea. I started doing a character for each piece and make them into a team but I'll decide which one to submit before voting begins.

Meet Check Mate, a team from the secret villainous Boardgame organization. Brought together by their leader, Chess Master, the team is determined to overthrow the government and create chaos and pandemonium within society. These members were specifically selected, all having in common the fact that they're all mute but have the ability to communicate telepathically. This team is determined to wreak havoc. So far I've got:

Pawn: A midget from Russia who has the ability to duplicate himself and is invulnerable.

Bishop: A Japanese assassin who has gone blind in her left eye. She learns how to position her body vertically so she can strike her enemies with her stolen Sword of Satan and send her victims to hell...or burn them very, very badly.

Knight: A medieval Irish knight who does not take authority well and has terrible luck. By showing a woman (who was secretly a sorceress) how cruel he was, she cursed him. She turned him into a horse, stealing his humanity, she stole his voice, leaving him forever unheard, and she sent him into the future, making sure he'd have no power to take advantage of. With the power of telepathy and telekinesis, the Knight has vengeance and hate in his heart.

despite a huge server crash on the only machine that could load this somehow I managed to finally get this cooked.

If they ever make this I'll be the first in line to buy it :)

First I made this, which isn't the entry but ended up becoming part of it.

Then I decided to use it as the packaging and made this which is my entry

I'm surprised Billy didn't make this set. But then again I don't remember him on the show. I would also fight you off for the first set

@Raven0207: haha, your almost a mind reader. I seriously contemplated doing the Shazam family instead and there's a possibility I may still do it, it's just too tempting :D

Also wanted to make the Legion of Doom for the other side but there's no way I could get that done by the deadline.

@tonis: They're doing something like that in UK with a weekly magazine at the moment.

This is a Goblin King with his "Rook", an enchanted bat staff which can teleport the Goblin King at his command. As the word Rook has several meanings, one of which being a bird, I decided to use another winged creature, a bat.

In Chess, a move is made between the King and a Rook where they switch places in the back field, provided neither King nor Rook has previously been moved and if the other players are out of the way. Usually used if a Bishop or Queen is in line to put the King in check. The move is called "castling" or "to castle".

So the Goblin King and his Rook "castle" when they teleport.

@Decept-O: that's right, I forgot about that magic move they can do. It's been so long since I player. Very cool way to turn it into an image :)

@tonis: Thanks man I appreciate that. Sorry I've not commented on a few entries here but I love what you've done with the DC characters, especially the Wonder Twins! Nice one. Oh man the Legion of Doom would've been so kick ass on all levels!

Well I may try another approach to it instead of just describing it, I should draw it as well if I can find the time and right way to do it.
