Well, I guess I get to head this baby. Since I've been watching Spartacus and playing God of War III I've been on a greek Mythology Kick. Well, lets see you guys come with some interesting creatures from mythology. Show me your versions of Medusa, Ares, Poseidon or whatever ancient character suits you. Just make sure we can tell who it is and it's not just some guy/gal in a toga! Deadline is April 16th.
Edit - Don't be confined to the "typical" ideals of mythology. This is meant to be YOUR version of the character. Imagine Ares, the god of war, still in his ancient armor but adorned with weapons and trinkets throughout ALL of history. Aphrodite as an ancient dominatrix, Hercules stitched up and scarred (I know these are silly examples but I'm tired). Think of what McFarlane did with Oz and you get the idea.
Charachter Creation Contest 24
Don't mean to burst any balloons, but isn't this the Character Creation Contest, where you have to create an original character based on a simple suggestion. If everybody does Medusa and Zeus and Hercules, then it's not original. That sounds more like an idea for the original Art Show-Off Contest.
it's still character creation if you put your own spin on it, for example Bill Finger and Bob Kane "created" Batman, but Frank Miller re-created the character, and in no-way would i consider the Frank Miller Batman the same as Kane's Batman they are two completely different entities.
it happens like that all the time in comics.
Well the last one was a create your own Deadite from a pre-existing franchise so I figured this could be interesting to see people's interpretations of the greek gods and other creatures. For instance, look at the all the different versions of Hades. In Disney's Hercules he has blue fire for hair, In God of War he looks like this gladitorial demon. There's still lots of room for creativity. Hell, You could even modernize Ares to see what he would look like if he were still around nowadays.
Since it's our version, I made mine with an oriental twist. :D
"AKIRESU" is the hero of Giresu; a nation that attacked the kingdom of Turoyu after Turoyu's prince Parisu took Giresu's queen Herenu.
He fought and killed Turoyu's own hero: Hekutoru. This is the story of Turojanu Taisen! Ehehehe! I'm allowed to make fun of Japanese accent cause I have Japanese blood :p....
Achilles is a Mythological creature right? I hope this is a valid entry.. :D

Medusa's Blade
Her is the story of a virgin priestess of Athena, Goddess of the Wisdom, who was raped by the God of the Sea, Poseidon. Asking for comfort to the goddess she adored whom she believed will save her but instead cursed her to be a terrifying creature whose mere looks can turn anyone into stone.
Bitter and angry of her fate, she happened to lure the godly and divine weapon, the Witchblade. Together, the two set out to kill the two gods who made her, who she is.
It took the power of the entire Olympus Gods, The Darkness and The Angelus (parents of the Witchblade) to pacify the attack but enough to wound and cause havoc to Poseidon and Athena.
"this picture is amazing i love the pose and i love the background. ok i love everything about this piece of work. NICE JOB :D"Medusa's Blade

I stumbled on this yesterday when I decided to take a break from AION first time ever not playing that thing in 6 months go me! lol, anyway, I couldn't pass up a Greek mythology one so I quickly drew and inked this, I might colour it and repost if I have time but probably not.
