Awesome Art Picks: Rogue, Vampirella, Supergirl, and More

Each week we search for the coolest comic book art that you won't see in actual comics. The reason you won't is because artists often draw sketches for fun or commissions and post them on their blogs, Tumblrs, and websites. Some artists even pre-arrange commissions through their sites so be sure to check them out.

I can tell Todd Nauck had a lot of fun with that Thing, so good. Also, Oh yeah Macho Man is a very nice choice. Takara's warm ups are fantastic. Will be looking forward to Dustin's Descender, put it on my pull list. That Young Link is so rocking, I knew it would sell out in an instant.

I can't keep looking at this feature every week, just so many artists I want to commission. It makes my future wallet weep uncontrollably.

@moon_man: You said it. Naucks drawings are so characterless that you get fed up after a couple of these drawings. They are those kind of drawing you see at amusement parks done in a couple of minutes, always just the head or sometimes ridicuosly small bodies, but never any poses that are interesting or tells anything about the character or the situation. Please don't remind us of these and certainley don't post links.

I ordered an Invincible Comission from Mahmud Asrar for LSCC, he said it might not be done in time though, heres to hoping.

i'll throw my hat into the ring with a joker piece...

I can see how people can get tired of them. I wonder if he colors them on-site. Regardless of the familiar poses, I do think the colors & shadowing are always outstanding.

@phoenixofthetides: Nah, it's all about mannerism... As those "awesome artists" who can with different diluted paint layers on the brush in just a brushstroke paint a beautiful flower. It's impressive, but it's just a trick without substance and very tiresome.

I liked the Gasper the friendly ghost Gwen. Not a great week for inspired commissions or warmup art overall,although... Brett Booth's Batman/Plastic-Man wasinspired
