Each week we search for the coolest comic book art that you won't see in actual comics. The reason you won't is because artists often draw sketches for fun or commissions and post them on their blogs, Tumblrs, and websites. Some artists even pre-arrange commissions through their sites so be sure to check them out.

Last weekend was WonderCon so we apologize for the lack of an installment. We will have another edition to the Mystery Art Challenge coming up this week!

Todd Nauck was busy at WonderCon last weekend. He posted some of his commissions on his Tumblr. I also got a Star Wars commission from him, reproducing the cover to the novel Splinter of the Mind's Eye.

That Rod Reis Thor pic is EPIC, befitting the God of Thunder! Also love the Deodato Ben Grimm piece- will always love that blue-eyed idol o' millions. I also love Anka's Bucky(always draws a killer Winter Soldier), Cap & Zemo. Also, Asrar's Black Widow is sexy-cool. (Loved his art since the first Nova Annual, DnA-era.) All the Daredevil pieces are great, esp. Francavilla's & Rivera's.

Anka's Spiral reminded me of her almost non-existent existence...where is she anyway?

Smallwood's Moon Knight rocks!

Gomez's Daredevil is awesome too!

And last of all, Deodato's Thing looks boss.

That Nauck Mary Jane is ridiculous.

Mahmud continues to make me want a Mahmud piece.

Albert Nguyen's Frozen is very nice, I bought some buttons from him.

Still like Henderson's stuff, I just need to save up to buy it

Fairchild not wearing pants was the only time Fairchild was relevant. I wish when they brought her into the new52, they made her be Supergirl, or Powergirl on prime-earth, they could say her powers were from superman's DNA.

Wish they'd make Carrie Kelly look attractive. & if you are going to have a female Robin, then have Barbara & Cassie recruit a Batboy/Lad as well. Because to me, Robin = Batboy/Lad, so therefore should NOT ever be female. Same with Kid-Flash & Speedy.

I think making her Supergirl or Power Girl would be kind of bleh. There is no reason Gen 13 couldn't have been relaunched as something to get kids on board with. Bright colors and kinda 'toony artwork.

Yeah, I agree. Gen13 embodied everything that the 90s were about. Translating that for today's readers would essentially mean creating whole new characters.

But wait, did they actually re-launch Gen13 or bring them into New52? I never new that.

I always liked the way Carrie Kelly looked. She looked like such a normal person, it was so unique. She reminded of girls I actually knew instead of most super-heroines who look like porn stars.

Yeah, but she was a clone. Apparently, Deathstroke killed the real Fairchild in his first volume. But who knows if that was really her, because I saw a pic of gen13 in one of those final pages every comic has where they feature future comics or features. But that could just have been that DC is publishing the ver first Gen 13 volume, 1994.
