Artist Show-Off Showdown # 19: Draw What Ya Love: ***VOTING THREAD*** (Vote for TWO)
Thanx, yolo.:)
Hey, mods--what should the last day for all the votes be?
Not a mod, but 5-7 days maybe? It's totally up to you how long the voting period is. The only foreseeable problem with having the runner up also win is that you increase the likelihood of a tie -- and that can extend the voting for much longer, unless you establish that you'll be the deciding vote in any tiebreakers. Whatever works best for you works for us.
This was a cool challenge, by the way. Made me turn on the Eagles "Take It Easy" and let the pencil and imagination flow freely.
I see your point. Well...
If there are several ties (and it looks like it already), I will be the deciding vote on the second winner. I did promise there would be two winners, an' I'm a man of my word.
Don't want this one to go past Sunday, so Sunday morning, I will make the final determination.
Now, the hard part...the 2nd winner. We ended up with a three-way tie, and this one's very difficult to decide because I really, really love all three equally.
Well, after much thought, deliberation, and butt-cheek clenching, I made a decision based on the only thing the other two did not have (no fault of the artists involved; I just had to decide on SOMETHING!). Based on its originality, the second winner is...RamsIllustration's character, Damsel of the Damned.
Congratulations, Rams, you and newagecomics20 will now decide the April challenge!
Hey there Mr, thank you and Im ok with newagecomics20 starting the next one on whatever he wants.
If we dont here from him, Im willing to stay with this theme at least one more time. I think everyone enjoyed putting out their own creative version of something thats a personal fun piece.
Lets see if in the next day or 2 we hear from him, if not thats what I plan to roll with.
Congrats @newagecomics20 and @ramsillustrations both very well deserved wins. I know one of you will put up a great contest :)
@egod: wow that’s amazing!! Thanks everyone I really appreciate it :)
@ramsillustrations: thanks! And honestly that was my first time posting in this forum so I’m not really sure what to do next lol
NP,
Choose a Comic related theme usually, dont make it too complicated.
Just something others will be wiling to test their creativity with. maybe a character from any ComicBook series but if its more obscure use a reference pic.
Or like this last one let them draw what they like. Then choose to start a new topic, title it with what you think will be a cool heading to get the motivation going.
Number the new contest according to the one after this one. Just look at the previous contest title number.
Set a deadline usually 2 to 3 weeks from when you start the post. If you want, set a short and easy guideline of what you plan for the new contest and thats it post and you are good to go.
Call out EGoD to bump it to the top. Thats it! :)
@ramsillustrations: ok I see, could I do it tomorrow as it’s late where I am?
@ramsillustrations: hey dude, could someone else do it?
Nope. I was afraid that this might happen--gang, it's the same as any other challenge here: It's an art contest, not a marriage proposal loll
"Puts on my Logan/Wolverine voice*
Bub, the deal was this--ya both agree ta create the next contest. It can be as complicated as the two o' you workin' together, or as simple as one poster proposin' an idea and the other agreeing ta it. But both o' ya gotta get the job done together. OK?
Fun fact: The Fantastic Four's Brooklyn-based Thing was actually Marvel's first all-out brawler who talked like this. When Wolverine became a more interesting character in the late 1970s (thanks to artist John Byrne, a fellow Canadian like Logan), Marvel transferred most of the Thing's characteristics to Wolverine.
Hey man, I can get it done when I have time.
This happens rarely but every once in a while the winner bows out. I know its a little bit of a hassle and people that enter sometimes do not realize whats expected. If you mentioned that in any post I lost track of what everyone stated since I dont get a chance to read all the comments. Im in the middle of some home repairs, have roofers coming and other home remodeling stuff going on so I can get things going here and probably wont have much time for anything else.
I left it up to him since he was the primary winner but I kinda guessed this would happen. I really just want this moving along, not for myself, just so there is something posted to get the willing participants to join in.
This turnout, over I think the last 3 contests has been pretty good since we have to remember the contest going into the winter was dying. It will again if people start going back out regardless of covid as summer approaches, so we need to make the most of it.
People just need to remember, that the fun is the drawing part but we take on the responsibility of starting the next one. Its just to keep things fluid.
Ok, ok!! lol We all sometimes forget that other people have their own life situations to handle.
Well, I'm a professor, and there's a rule: If ya start something in class, ya gotta resolve it. Therefore, how about this--I got a few ideas for a challenge below, and you two can "yea" or "nay" them.

Idea #1: Civvies: Show any superhero or supervillain in any pose or situation, but the character must wear civilian clothing (jeans, t-shirts, dresses, lingerie, a suit, etc.)
Idea # 2: Tell Me a Story: In no more than one or two sketches (two is the max), tell us a story with dialogue. This means you'll need at least one word balloon in your sketch. Comic Life is a really great tool for this (see below), and it's free to use for thirty days.

Idea # 3: Everything's Ivy: Just like the Wonder Woman/Harley Quinn challenges, but this time, it's Poison Ivy. An' yeah, these are some of my really old sketches as examples.
Those look great Professor X.... ;p
We arent in class and once you hand of the baton to the winners nothing follows from the previous contest its up to the next winner. Thrrrpppp raspberry to you Mr!
Buuuut since you made some suggestions I will just say #1 and 3 work for me but im leaning for 3 since drawing a nice curvy lady thats a villain will get more likes from what I have seen from past contests with more people jumping in to join.
This contest has a few rules but everything here is just really laid back and we work with what we have for the most part. The good thing here is we arent stuck grading papers hehe. I remember you mentioned that.
I really like this last idea you had for everyone to just enjoy the moment with something they wanted to share but Poison Ivy I think will be the next theme.
I will try and have that up tonight but thanks Knotty for sharing some of your old work, you should have tried when you were really into this to get into the business. I love the styling you have and many would have instantly become enamored with it. I know since I would have followed you in whatever book(s) I saw your work being published in.
