Amalgam Contest #93: The ALS Challenge

"An artist with a cause is cause for art."

By now, we have all seen the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge videos. So I thought we could have A Comicvine ASL Artist Show Off Amalgam Challenge. Here is the deal and special rules:

1. 1 Entry per person unless you are collaborating with someone. (Then you may enter as yourself and you + collaborator)

2. You will be given a choice of 3 different characters, you must pick 2 and amalgamate them (or if you want to go for it....all three).

3. Your character choices are:

Aquaman

Lobo

And

Superior Spiderman

Here is the kicker:

So, get busy....and when you finish, hook up with a fellow 'Viner who may not be as artistically inclined, but still has a great idea. You have until the 5th of September. Make me poor guys, for a good cause. :)

Here is my entry, I plan on inking it but just in case here are my pencils. I originally planned to have him riding a dolphin (because dolphins are sort of a Lobo thing as well as Aquaman) on a wave but I ran out of room on my paper to draw the dolphin so I scratched that idea, though I admit it would have been freaking cool. Yes his hair is not black because Aquaman is blonde. The spiders on his boots are an attempt to merge Lobo's boots with the superior spiderman.

I think the ice bucket challenge has grown to be just a social media trend like the duck face, and it wastes water, so I'm glad there is a challenge that will actually get money donated and not waste water, also I get to use my artistic talents to make a difference.

Superior Lobo

Got a design, now all I need is a drawing. ;)

Here goes guys, be patient with me. The only combo not yet done... Spidey and Aquaman. So, presenting the Superior Aqua-Spider!

The design was chosen very carefully...using the main colors from both costumes. Look close in the spider logo, and the silhouette of Aquaman's new logo is there. Green extra spider mimicking the webbing. Gold and red do well, had a bit of trouble with the black.

Powers: basic Spidey powers, adhesion, hydrokinesis, water force fields, danger sense, and total animal telepathy. If I recall, there's a type of spider that lives in water by making a bubble, that's his inspiration. Kinda Golden-Agey, and based off the cover to Superior Spider-Man 14. What does anybody think?

OK, so i haven't had lots of time to draw recently, but when i saw there was a contest for a good cause, i couldn't help myself!

So now let me present: "The Superior Aqua-Man"

@payno: I've seen enough hentai to know where this is going. :) In all seriousness its pretty great though. I would have never though to give him tentacles instead of arms.

@payno: My goodness, we had similar ideas, but yours was of much better execution. Wonderful job, sir.

How @payno made the tentacles work is beyond me.

Here I thought I was going to see characters dropping cold water on themselves...

All I have for my idea is something rough. Kinda disappointed that I couldn't do more with it like I wanted, but school and all...

Not much of an artist but since it's for a slightly good cause without getting wet I thought I'd give it a whirl.
