I have chosen Spiderman and Wolverine they have both have had a lot of costumes so their are plenty of options to mix and mach The contest will end at 12 PM 5/15/09 you know the rules it must be new for this and that's about it have fun.
here's mine(i call him spiderine). kept most of the wolvie type stuff(i like him more than spidey. notes-chest tattoo is metallic gold from 'iron spider' spidey, wolvies wearing an iron fist style headwrap with spider eyes on top
But you are getting way better this one is awesome I love the Iron Fist mask with the spider eyes on it and the the chest design is sweet I like the use of positive and negative space When are you going to start inking your stuff

p.s. as far as inks go...im really still trying to get my pencil skills down. read in a book somewhere that you should try to get really good at one area(pencils/inks/colors) before trying the others. of course in fairness now that i think about it i think the 'book' was just a letter from a fan in an archie comic....:)
much appreciated cm. wish i had a tablet...no at present my materials include 1)a ream of office max copy paper 2)some pencils:4h-6b(rarely if ever use more than hb for finishing) 3)a staedtler eraser pen and 4)bunch of staedtler metal pencil sharpeners. the next contest should have the winner get a tablet of his/her choice. :)
The reason I ask is because your art looks so clean yet you can still see some of your skeleton - which I love. Do you do any touch ups after you scan it in?
oh sure...i run it through photoshop and use auto levels(sometimes i do levels manually) to darken the sketch then i run around with the eraser getting as many stray pencil marks as i can(or feel comfortable getting)...and that's it. trying to learn more photoshop tricks but i would rather draw than learn it...
p.s. auto-levels is a huge huge help gives the pencils an almost inked look
Ok guys here is my submission! I had a slightly different take on mine, trying to make Spidey the more prominent since most were going the opposite. Also my Wolverine take is slight - going old school with the Samurai sword and of course much body hair. I hope you enjoy!
Thanks for the compliments guys! Really trying to work on my physique and details such as muscles, eyes and hands so I can impliment them better. Right now I find myself cheating to try and hide parts of the body I'm no good at drawing haha!
Hopefully we can keep the participation up and have a lot of fun with the future challenges.

Spider-X
well in the pic James Parkett AKA Spider-X has Wolverine's original mask on with 6 extra eyes going vertical. he has on two shoulder pads on (supposed to be golden) with the spider emblem on them. also he has the blue X on his chest (reppin the X-Men) with the webbed shirt underneath
also you might notice Spider-X's lover/enemy, Felicka Haryama AKA Deathcat.
Did his left arm get chopped off? Or, oh I see now. You should work on that stuff, it took me a long time but I kinda got it right, still kinda suck at it though, lol.
