When it gets the point where even the filmmakers and his fans think his original appearance as a white blonde guy with a orange and green costume made no sense... that's when you know that Aquaman has been lame since the beginning.

So many Marvel and DC characters get to have actors who look pretty close to the character their playing... but not Aquaman... half his fan base doesn't really give a shit. Lets hope DC learns from Marvel and changes Aquaman New 52 comic look to the film version. Because lets face, hardly any of you would really care...

Original marketing they have there...

And I'm not sure if this can be considered part of the marketing, this is a teaser pic for Aquaman's costume shown by Snyder, not an official poster for either BvS or JL or even a solo Aquaman movie released by WB.

Can't wait to see Khal Drogo of the sea. I understand they based this off the 90's books because late 80's early 90's seems to be the only stuff Snyder ever read but sorry Momoa you can't act and have played the same character in ever performance and this looks no different.

My only main concern about the costume, despite preferring one closer to the comics, is that it doesn't look in any way regal. He looks like a guard, not a king.

I guess when you cast Jason Mamoa you're going for a specific look.

It wouldn't surprise me he was cast on look alone, with only a cursory audition..

Agreed, this guy would never challenge a villain to a dance off. F-ing lame.

How does having a tattoo equate to "bleak and dark." A little ink doesn't make you a downer.

For the record, I was being sarcastic.

For a first costume it's fine. It'll break illusions and catch eyes. Plus, assuming Arthur isn't the most human right low it fits. Hopefully we'll get his more classic look down the road.

On the fence.

I despise Aquaman's orange and green costume, so one that isn't that color scheme is welcome.

He does look rather bad-ass and perhaps that was the look they were hoping to achieve.

Looks solid, but also looks like him playing every typecast character he has in the past. His versatility is very limited, and honestly (IMO), his acting has a lot to be desired, but as a set-piece and one of 7 he should do fine.

The look powerful, and I am glad he is at least getting the green pants.

Why are people bringing up 90's Aquaman. Its not like he appeared that way in the start of a continuity anyways. After each crisis/reboot/revamp we've went back to classic looking Aquaman. 90's Aquaman started off as classic even first wore the classic colors and events made him become the gritty Hook hand character. This is "Aquaman's" first onscreen appearance we should be getting something more classic.

Even Bruce Timm had Aquaman appear in more a classic look when introducing him on film, and really is Timm's Aquaman really the best thing to be bringing up. He had what maybe one important thing come up the entire JL series?

This seriously is like if Henry Cavil first showed up as Superman Blue showed in the DCCU

I really don't like Mamoa as Arthur. I would've preferred something less Pacific Islander and more English since he's based off of King Arthur, but I can't complain.

P.S... He bleached the picture, the colors are bleached out. His pants are green.

Aquaman was never based on King Arthur. And he was American. All they have in common is the name.

@superguy1591: I'm just glad Pacific Islanders are getting some form of representation, even if it does come at the expense of turning a white superhero into a Pacific Islander. As a guy who lives on a Pacific Island, and has many friends who are Pacific Islanders, this is great that they almost have their own superhero. I mean Pacific Islander Aquaman makes so much sense.

I am a huge fan of DC.

That's why i will go the movies and watch every film DC is going to release.

But I must say that I truly dislike this look and the choice of Momoa as Aquaman. Call me old-fashioned but i prefer the clean-cut image. like the new 52 Aquaman , or the one who appeared in the last animated movie. It seems that they tried to make Aquaman look like Momoa and the rest of the characters he has played when it should have been the other way round. He should have tried to look like Aquaman.

Moreover, the hair and the beard look just gross.

@stellar421: Aquaman is pretty much King Arthur thats probably where the name comes from

Trident - Excalibur

Became King of Atlantis - Became King of England

Both were brought it as "destined" rulers to their kingdoms.

Aquaman has Vulko, Arthur has Merlin.

Someone Eastern European would of made sense. (Irish, English, Spain)

I think Mama actually hinted this style some time ago.

The tattoos are probably the type of tattoos that indicate war paint.

Since it actually matches his armor.

It's clear Zack wants Aquaman to be viewed as "cool" to the mainstream audience. I can respect that.

@stellar421: are you sure? I saw a documentary about the Golden Age where they said he was influenced by Arthur Pendragon, being a boy who is unaware of his destiny to be king. King Arthur was unaware of his destiny until he pulled the sword from the stone.

Aquaman was unaware of his destiny until he fell into water.

Excalibur is Arthur's trident.

I could be wrong.

@nathan_abril: unlike many others, I have no problems with diversity for diversity sake. I am perfectly fine with the cast, it's the design that I don't like,

Though, as I've said before, i, too, agree with the fact that a Pacific Islander would be cast as an aquatic based hero.

Here is another image of the costume with colors intact.

I really wish Snyder wouldn't release his teasers in monochrome. These images keep getting a huge fan backlash because they look BAD when all the color is drained out of them.
