Jason Momoa Allegedly Cast as Aquaman

Well, it looks like we can potentially add another character to the cast of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. HitFix is claiming Aquaman's appearance will just be a cameo to help set him up for Justice League. The website says they've confirmed Momoa has landed the role and director Zack Snyder has "already finalized his designs for the character so shooting can take place soon."

So, why will the King of Atlantis appear in the upcoming DC movie? The website states Arthur Curry will likely make a cameo because he's not pleased about what happened with the World Engine and the Indian Ocean.

Good choice.

1) Women think he's extremely attractive.

and 2) he's not easy for guys to make fun of. He's not a pretty-boy.

Aquaman's image = instantly fixed.

Also, I'm beyond excited that we're actually going to get Aquaman in 2016. Seems to make sense with the story too. A lot of potential there with the Clark/Arthur parallels.

Excellent casting choice!! But please… No… more… this movie is far too crowded, even if this is just a cameo. How are all these heroes just now showing up?! How did Aquaman not react immediately when the World Engine kind of nearly obliterated the Indian Ocean?? He's not THAT slow.

I guess I don't care. I've never heard of Jason Momoa. Seriously, who is he and what's he been in before?

I am extremely excited for him in this role. I agree that he can help bring a lot of credibility to an already great character.

I like Jason Mamoa. He wasn't even on my radar as a potential Aquaman.

Decent enough actor. At least we don't have to be worried about Aquaman not being a badass lol

Im gonna shed a tear if they confirm all this is true at Comic con next month.I always wanted Charlie Hunnam for Aquaman or that guy from Game of Thrones or Alexander Skarsgard

@patrat18: I was a big fan of Stargate Atlantis and I liked Ronan Dex.

He's not gonna win any academy awards for acting, but he is great at being badass. Dex, Drogo, Conan etc lol.

That's more important for the first live action Aquaman then anything else

I never thought there would ever be a big screen Aquaman so I can totally accept him not being blond.

As I said on the other thread, this is only a rumour so far with information gathered from a so called 'reliable' source. Nothing has been confirmed yet and Momoa denied that he was Aquaman a while back. Nonetheless, if it were true, I could see Momoa pulling this role off. There are some similarities in Karl Drogo's role that can easily be applied to Aquaman plus he's a pretty good actor to boot with the physicality to match Aquaman's appearance. This could potentially work well if true.

@justthatkid: I'd be willing to be they're gonna totally redo the costume. I'm not sure a bring orange dude with green pants is the way to go for live action.

Maybe something based off Kingdome Come Aquaman. though with as big as Momoa is, they'll probably have less costume than more, to show off his physique lol

I approve. Jason Momoa will really give Aquaman a good public image.

Id rather a Pacific rim vs Godzilla movie.

I like this casting it isn't some blonde white guy. Aquaman as a sort of barbarian king could be interesting and it isn't like he hasn't done it before in GoT and Conan (solid if underdeveloped film).

IF his reason for coming to the surface is the World Engine at least they are making the tonaly dissonant destruction work a bit.

Well, he looks nothing like Aquaman, but I suppose this would be an instant fix to Aquaman's reputation, huh?

I can get behind this at least he knows his way around Atlantis.

I hope this is true. He was awesome in game of thrones and to be honest I'd take just about anyone if it means aquaman is in the movie.

You should rent "Bullet to the Head" with him, Sung Kang of "Fast and Furious" fame and Sly Stallone. Hell of a way to spend an hour and a half, and you will believe (especially after watching the final fight scene) that he will be amazing swinging around a Trident with authority.

@jeremy1989: U have a point, Momoa could play Lobo but I think the Undertaker from WWF would have been the best. I guess my Wonder Woman movie plot with Aquaman and Wonder Woman is starting to become more plausible. Some jackass on twitter is talking about no Martian Manhunter in the Justice League movie and my worst fear is Darkseid will be the lead villain and Maxwell Lord will be his lackey. mixed emotions. i want to see aquaman, and i like jason mamoa but i was hoping for a shazam the Rock vs a black adam jason mamoa oh well im sure he will do well i mean he kinda already did the role already. wonder if they will keep the beard or make him clean shaven? though i like my men smooth i think the bearded man of the sea look would be better, his new 52 look from before him joining the justice league when he was with the others springs to mind
