Joss Whedon's Astonish X-Men was launched, Chris Claremont moved over from the cancelled X-Treme X-men to take over Uncanny X-Men, Chuck Austen moved from Uncanny X-Men to X-Men Vol.2 which returned to its original title and New X-Men vol. 2 replaced New Mutants vol. 2. New titles launched included District X starring Bishop and a new Excalubir vol. 3. Wolverine Vol.3 would begin to carry the Marvel Knights imprint. Agent X and Soldier X were cancelled and replaced by Cable & Deadpool. Madrox and Gambit were launched later in the year.
