Origin
Tabby and Birdie Rosebud are two women in their seventies who are devoted to radio mystery programs, so devoted that they know almost all mystery tales by heart, so that even when they hear a new one they usually dismiss it as “the same old corn.”
Their familiarly with tales of murder and mayhem may be the explanation for why when they encounter in it their day to day lives it hardly effects them. In fact they prove to be more than capable of not only stopping, but reforming criminals with hardly any effort.
It helps that during their seventy plus years they have studied martial arts (in one story Tabby tosses a 250 pound crook over her head using only one hand) hypnotism, race car driving and other skills, add to that their devotion of mystery stories make them efficient casual amateur sleuths.
