Fiona Webb has suffered a nervous breakdown, due to events surrounding her wedding day. An unscrupulous doctor records Webb's delusional ramblings, to sell to a tabloid. The Flash deals with the doctor. Checking on Webb, leaves the Flash distraught with feelings of guilt. Ms. Torres speaks with Detective Frank Curtis, regarding her runaway son, Angelo. Famous trial lawyer, R. D. Redik, is interviewed by the press. Redik contends that by selecting a small town attorney, over Redik, the Flash has no chance of being acquitted at trial. The Flash goes over his case with his attorney, Peter Farley.
Police Captain, Darryl Frye, asks the Flash to aid in the search for a missing person, police forensics scientist, Barry Allen. Curtis asks the Flash to also look for Angelo Torres. While searching for Torres, the Flash is drawn to a strand of colored gas, wafting in the air. The Flash is snared by a psychic trap, laid by the Super-Gorilla, Grodd. The Flash is transported into a nether dimension, with Grodd close behind him. The Flash sees Torres under attack. Rescuing Torres, the Flash races up the energy beam, being emitted by the attacker's craft. A second before the Flash can grab his opponent, the man, along with his ship, explodes. The Flash confers with Torres.
Grodd sends his henchmen after the Flash. The second man, clad in a rocket-powered suit of armor, engages the Flash. The two grapple for several moments. Ultimately, the Flash's assailant loses control of his suit, plummeting to his death. The third, and final, man engages the Flash. This man possesses the same super-human speed as the Flash. Just as the Flash's foe is about to triumph over him, Grodd slays his own minion. The Flash finds himself moving slower and slower. During each of his three battles, the Flash's super-speed has been slowly siphoned off by Grodd. Now, with the Flash right where Grodd wants him, Grodd closes in for the kill.
