Origin
The Auctioneer is an immense, vastly powerful alien being with a mania for collecting and resale. Plugged into hundreds of galactic buying networks, the auctioneer uses his robotic staff to monitor interstellar commerce, keep tabs on his best customers, and forward leads on the locations of exotic treasures. His starship is the size of a city, with storage capacity to a house entire buildings.
When the Auctioneer took an interest in Earth, he snapped up monuments from the Eiffel Tower to the Golden Gate Bridge until opposed by Superman. viewing the Kryptonian as the greatest prize of all, he captured Superman and other metahumans for sale at auction. The Man of Steel allied with Skyrocket, the Veteran, Nightwing, Aquaman (Arthur Joseph Curry), and others to escape. After Superman threatened to release the Auctioneer's private database, the alien withdrew.
