    Stumbling through the snow, Swamp Thing attempts to rescue a man from a grizzly bear. The man dies, but not before warning Swamp Thing that horror resides in the nearby town of Perdition. But in desperate need of shelter and rest, Swamp Thing ends up in Perdition anyway, where he is first met with hostility by the residents, but then welcomed. But they seem a little too welcoming... is there something they secretly want from him...?

    A Return to Horror in Swamp Thing Year 2 0

    Again we have swamp thing entering an isolated village with no ties to the outside world. Again we have the usual shovel-wielding mob - a situation even Swamp Thing himself admits to getting tired of. But, cliché though it may be, it's far better than seeing Swamp Thing dressed in a trenchcoat and engaging in standard superheroics like the last couple issues.  Again we see the influence of Roy Thomas ' version of Conan , with Swamp Thing as wandering adventurer.     An authentically creepy story 0

    One of the best Swamp Thing stories. One of the few that scared me as a little kid when I read it for the first time in elementary school. Mnagalah is one of the scarier foes. Although a terrific story, I think this issue has some of Wrightson's best artwork, which magnifies the effect of the story many times....
