The Empire meets its match in TOKYPOP's Cine-Manga edition of Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi! Darth Vader and the Empire are building a new, more powerful Death Star. While the Rebel fleet faces the Imperial armada, Luke must fight both Vader and the Emperor - for his very soul! Will Luke become a Jedi Knight? Or will the dark side of the Force forever dominate his destiny?

Jabba the Hutt has imprisoned Han Solo in carbonite. C-3PO, R2-D2, Princess Lei, and Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca, and Lando Calrissian barely manage to avoid being eaten by the Sarlacc Pit in a successful rescue.

Master Yoda informs Luke that Darth Vader is his father. Yoda then fades into the Force when he passes away. Obi-Wan's 'ghost' informs Luke that Leia is also his sister.

The rebel alliance is going to try and destroy the new Death Star before it is completed construction. It is currently in orbit around the moon Endor. Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie, R2-D2, and C3-PO decide to invade Endor to disable the shield generator protecting the Death Star. That will allow the rebel fleet to destroy it. Our heroes are captured by some native Ewoks, but they manage to convince the Ewoks to help them fighting the Empire.

Luke decides to confront Vader, in an attempt to turn Vader back to the light side of the force. When Vader takes Luke to meet the Emperor Luke learns the Emperor knows the fleet is coming and has actually set everything up as a trap.

When the rebel fleet arrives it meets the Empire's fleet and engages in an epic space battle. At the same time the Ewoks and the ground forces fight Stormtroopers on the surface to bring the shield down. The Emperor uses this opportunity to attempt to corrupt Luke to the dark side. Unfortunately for the rebels the Death Star is operational - ahead of schedule.

While Luke battles Vader and refuses to be turned Han figures out a way into the shield generator and blows it up. The Emperor, upset Luke can't be turned, attempts to kill him. Vader decides to save Luke by killing the Emperor. Luke helps his dying father off of the Death Star while Lando pilots the Millenium Falcon inside it to blow it up.

The Empire is now defeated and celebrations erupt all over the galaxy while Han and Leia finally kiss.
