The Old Man has returned and wants the Star Brand back. But the Old Man is dead, isn't he? Ken does not have long to contemplate this. For if the most powerful weapon in the universe is not returned to the Old Man he will murder someone close to Ken.
Ken practices how he will tell Barb about the Brand. In doing so, he gets lost in the atmosphere, and has to fly out to space to find home again by looking at the country's geography. He can't get up the courage to tell her when he gets home, however, so he hides the Brand where she won't see it.
He gets good news at work: his boss wants to move him into sales.
He wants to break up with Duck, but she keeps asking him out, and he keeps saying yes. When they're out to eat, the Old Man shows up. He tells Ken that he needs to tell him more about the Brand, but later, and then leaves.
At Barb's place, one of her kids rips his jacket, which he thought was indestructible. Barb tries to seduce him, but he can't focus, and then the Old Man shows up again, this time with Duck in tow, now seemingly in love with the Old Man. He says that there is a giant war in space, and he needs Ken to come help him with it.
They go outside, and Ken threatens the Old Man to release Duck from what's obviously mind control. He does. The Old Man tells Ken a little more about how the Brand works, and Ken almost gives it to him so he can use it, but then Ken thinks that maybe he's being mind-controlled to do that.
Barb is mad about the whole thing when Ken comes back in, and is going to leave with her kids. Ken realizes that the Old Man might hurt Duck, so he goes to help her, but then realizes that actually he wants to get Barb and the kids, so he goes back, where he finds him breaking in.
They battle, and go into space, where Ken defeats him--only to realize that he has no idea how to find his way back to Earth.
