Silver Surfer arrives on a lifeless planet to think and rest. He hasn't slept in years. Suddenly a skull shaped building appears. Surfer believes he is dreaming, a chance for him to adventure in his own uncharted depths in one of the most inaccessible realms. He discovers two dmons carrying a chest and they seem oblivious the the Surfer.

The chest is brought before Death herself. The chest is opened and a soul comes out. She speaks through her minions and tells the soul that he is to be released to life and that she senses a severe imbalance in the universe since the events of Galactus and Eternity defying her and the actions of the In-Betweener.

The demons spot the Surfer and attack him. He flies out of the structure to find the previously deserted planet covered in a sea of aliens. He flies toward a volcano where he sees a woman throwing an infant to it's death. He saves the infant but it transforms into a monster and attacks him. He wakes up on the planet and it is how it was when he arrived. He wonders about his dream but is soon met by the soul brought back to life by Death - Thanos.
