Sam Shearon Aka ‘Mister-Sam’ is a British Dark-Artist born in Liverpool in the United Kingdom.
Best known for creating 'Dark-Artwork' for the bands such as Rob Zombie, Rammstein, HIM, A Pale Horse Named Death, Fear Factory, Godhead, Biohazard, Piranha and Iron Maiden and for the magazines/Comics: Fangoria, LA Weekly, HEAVY METAL Magazine, IDW Publishing including 30 Days of Night and The Call of Cthulhu, The Picture of Dorian Gray, the rock group 'KISS' and many more. Other clients include ESP Guitars, Schecter Guitars, Dean Guitars and CoffinCase.
Specialising in horror and science-fiction, his work often includes elements inspired by ancient cultures, the occult, industrial/art/revolution-eras as well as classic literature and the often controversial side to the study of the supernatural, the paranormal and the realm of cryptozoology.
Sam studied at the University of Leeds in the College of Art & Design, West Yorkshire, England.
He was awarded a Bachelor of Arts Degree with Honours in 2000 for Visual Communication. Shortly after, he went on to become a qualified Art teacher gaining a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from Huddersfield University in the United Kingdom.
His first solo exhibition entitled ‘A Walk On the Darkside’, boasted forty five pieces of his original artwork including 6-foot-tall (1.8 m) demonic statues, bio-mechanical monsters and giant canvas’ depicting images of horror and the macabre. The exhibition was featured in various National newspapers and radio shows. These included The Daily Telegraph, The Daily Star, BBC Radio ONE and live interviews on BBC Radio Leeds North - resulting in the show being extended to six weeks due to popular demand.
His work has been described by the British press as 'Bizarre' by The Daily Telegraph, 'Gruesome' by The Daily Star and 'Groundbreaking' by Lancashire Today Magazine as well as many other newspapers and magazines labelling his dark-artwork as ‘Grotesque’, 'disturbing', 'surreal', 'controversial' and 'Too Scary For Children'.
When it comes to creating visions from the darker side of life, Sam’s work is often labelled as ‘Dark Surrealism’, ‘Dark Steampunk’ and also ‘The Art of Darkness’.
Sam Shearon or ‘Mister-Sam’ has created Dark-Artwork for a variety of clients in both the rock and metal music scene and the world of the comic book and graphic novel.
