Hal Jordan was accused of the murder until it was discovered that Darkseid was to blame. Batman held onto the bullet and shot Darkseid with it just before he was hit by the Omega Effect. The bullet weakened Darkseid and would have eventually killed him if Superman had not destroyed him first.
