Psylocke has returned to the X-Men! Following the defeat of Madelyne Pryor and her Sisterhood, Psylocke travels to Japan to re-inter her former body in its proper resting place. But when a swarm of Hand ninjas attack Psylocke and do the unspeakable under orders from Matsu’o—the assassin originally responsible for transplanting Psylocke’s mind into the body of an Asian ninja— Psylocke determines that Matsu’o is one loose end that can no longer be left unresolved. Over the course of her life, Betsy Braddrock also known as Psylocke, has been many things: a young girl growing up at her family's manor in Britain. A purple-haired supermodel turned X-Man. And a telepathic ninja, her mind transplanted into the body of the Japanese assassin Kwannon. Though she was transformed into Kwannon against her will, Psylocke long ago made peace with Matsu'o Tsurayaba, the man who was responsible. Or so she had thought.
As Psylocke arrives in Japan, eager to bury her former body, she is attacked by a swarm of ninjas. While she keeps her attackers at bay, she is unable to prevent them for carrying out their mission. They immolate the body, doing so under orders from Matsu'o.
As the last remains of her former body crumble to dust, Psylocke vows: Matsu'o Tsurayaba must die.
