Professor Veronica

Origin

Veronica Chase was a professor at Empire State University in Earth-2149, a dimension that soon became better known as the Zombieverse when it became infected by a virus that transformed many superhuman beings into flesh-eating zombie-like creatures. Professor Veronica was among a small pocket of survivors that holed up in the university, developing a safe haven, and worked towards creating a cure for the zombie virus.

Creation

Professor Veronica was created by Victor Gischler and Bong Dazo. She first appeared in Deadpool: Merc With a Mouth #8.

Major Story Arcs

Next Stop: Zombieville

When Deadpool, Headpool, Dr. Betty, and Bill, Agent of A.I.M. ventured into the Zombieverse, they were quickly assaulted by several zombified heroes. During what seemed like a moment of reprieve, they were ambushed by a zombified Mecho-Marauder, only to be saved by the timely intervention of Professor Veronica and her rocket launcher. She introduces herself and reveals that she has been studying the zombies and working towards a cure. Deadpool and company are then taken to the safe haven at Empire State University.

After some collaboration with Dr. Betty on developing a cure, Professor Veronica tells Deadpool that she needs an infected superhuman specimen to experiment on. Deadpool happily accepts the mission and manages to capture zombie Cypher. She then rewards Deadpool by having sex with him, causing him to get the wrong idea and think she wanted a relationship even though she just wanted sex. The next morning she set out to help Deadpool return to his own dimension, only for them to run into the zombified Absorbing Man, Aguila, and Armadillo, who'd followed Deadpool to the safe haven after he'd captured Cypher.

Deadpool manages to defeat the three zombie supers rather swiftly, but unbeknownst to him, Professor Veronica gets infected by the Absorbing Man and ends up becoming a zombie as well. She then assists Absorbing Man in getting to the survivors holed up in the Empire State University safe haven.

During an attempt to eat Dr. Betty, Professor Veronica ended up being pushed off a rooftop by her, presumably killing her for good after hitting the pavement below.

Powers and Abilities

Professor Veronica possesses great intellect, proving to be a highly skilled geneticist by developing a serum that was able to reverse the dreadful zombie virus of Earth-2149. She has also demonstrated leadership skills in taking charge of group of survivors and keeping them safe in a zombie-infested world, as well as showing proficiency with fire-arms, most notably rocket launchers.
