Utilizing her skills as motivational therapist and expertise in methods of persuasion, Professor Andrea Wye sought to gain power and influence in the world by manipulating other people to do her bidding.

Creation

Professor Andrea Wye was created by writer Mike W. Barr and artist Carmine Infantino. She first appeared in 1983's The Brave and the Bold #194.

Trade Heroes and Win!

Inviting the down-on-their-luck Batman-rogue Doctor Double X and the Flash-rogue Rainbow Raider to her private facility on an island in the West Indies, Professor Wye intended to turn them both into successful individuals by helping the two men regain their self-confidence. Convincing the two villains that they weren't living up to their potentials simply because of their negative outlooks, Professor Wye suggested that they defeat a couple of superheroes in order to give them the confidence boost they need. Rather than tackling a long-standing adversary however that has already beaten them before, she encouraged Doctor Double X and the Rainbow Raider to mix things up and battle each others' respective adversaries instead. Doctor Double X would fight the Flash, while the Rainbow Raider would take on Batman, proving to themselves that their respective obstacles could in fact be beaten instead of allowing their own "negathink" to beat themselves.

Doctor Double X ambushed the Flash at a power station in Central City, and was able to successfully beat the Flash through some sneaky tactics, and then knocked him out with a strong dose of sedatives. Rainbow Raider meanwhile conducted a series of robberies in Gotham City and successfully managed to defeat Batman be capturing him in a crystal prism created with his light. Jubilant in their victories, the two villains delivered the defeated heroes to Professor Wye who is effusive in her praise of her students, noting that now they have their confidence they'll never lose it again. She then intended to use her abilities of persuasion to extract priceless secrets from Batman and the Flash - such as details of the Justice League Satellite or time travel.

Flash's enhanced metabolism had already burnt through Doctor Double X's sedative however, and he freed Batman from his prism prison. Batman then made quick work of Rainbow Raider, while Flash did the same to Doctor Double X. The fight wound up distracting the two heroes long enough though for Professor Wye to escape in her private plane.
