The citizens of the United Planets first learned of Omen (so named by his acolyte, Prophet) when the astronomy research station on Trewsk was consumed by solar flares. The Omen, a being of near unimaginable power, observed the ending of lives but did nothing to save them. When he observed one lone survivor later leaving the planet, his curiosity was aroused enough to keep the creature from death and transform him into Prophet.
When the Legion of Super-Heroes were sent by the U.P. to investigate, they found not only the scorched bodies of the research team, but also the Prophet, who was appearing on the surrounding populated worlds and warning the inhabitants of Omen's coming.
Frightened by Prophet, the worlds attacked him. When Prophet reached Khundia, the Legion joined the battle against him. When the Omen arrived and noticed the absence of his acolyte, he attacked, and then absorbed the essence of the Prophet. Meanwhile, Dream Girl activated the Khunds' negaton bomb, which opened a dimensional rift and propelled the Omen through into an unknown dimension. He ha not been seen since then.
