The Olympic Games is an international sporting event where countries that qualify compete for medals and glory. The Olympics are broken up into two types, Winter and Summer. Originally, the Olympic Games were held every four years until 1992 (except during WWI and WWII). From that point on the Winter Olympic Games were next held in 1994 continuing the four year cycle while the Summer Games were next held in 1996. The Winter Olympic Games were last held in 2014 and will be held next in 2018. The Summer Olympic Games were last held in 2012 and will next be held in 2016. The Winter Games feature winter sports such as hockey, skiing and ice skating, while the Summer Games feature summer sports such as volleyball and running.
