Chris Claremont makes his triumphant return to NEW EXCALIBUR with one of the most personal stories of his career. One of the team's members suddenly succumbs to an all-too-real tragedy.
During a fight with some unnamed enemies, Dazzler is shot in the back and killed. She's taken to the hospital where she promptly comes back to life. Since she's died and come back three times already, the doctor decides to run some tests. After the tests, the team visits and as they are getting ready to leave, Nocturne suffers a stroke.
Since Nightcrawler is off-world, no one knows how to treat her so they can't do much. While she's out, she remembers her life. Memories of her original Earth, her time with the Exiles and her life on Earth-616 rush through her mind and she eventually wakes up. Once awake she discovers that she can't control her body or her speech. She can think, but she can't communicate and she can't remember friends from Excalibur!
