There is something  that vexes  Nathan , a worm  that gnaws at  his soul :  Special Agent  Alfa  number  2 decides to  deal with it,  and so penetrates  down  into the bowels  of the old  Alpha  Building to  confront the  puppeteer who  has  moved  the wires  of the Agency,  so as to  find out the secrets of  Mr.  Alpha.  
Nathan discovers that the main events that have  shaped the  recent history  of the agency and  the city ,  from the creation  of the breed  of the shifts  to the success  of the religious movement  of the Divine  Presence  of Reverend Skotos  up  to the situation  of tension between  the Earth and  the colonies  is about to  escalate into  war,  were  all  orchestrated  by the same hand, that of the enigmatic Chinese crimelord.
